@Alex...Thank you so much ya😊

Its simple math, CVs, PH & Channel knew what would get them TRP & what not, yet they went ahead & screwed the show😡They rushed tracks which could have got them good TRPs but didn't move an inch on ra...khi track for 2 plus months showing the same scene in different scenarios🤢Why weren't the PH & channel bothered to improve the ratings then? They just wrapped up the original story haphazardly, revamped the show with out giving thought to content🤢There is no solid reason which PH & Channel can give to justify their lack of creativity & revamp😡

My pleasure Sahana.

@AlexWaverly...You seem to know your stuff, thanks so much for giving a detailed insight into what happens with shows, PH and television channels.

You know, I remember that once upon a time Zee had some really nice shows years ago where I wasn't turned off by them but as time went by for some reason or the other the shows and them have gotten so unwatchable. They will start off good and then from the middle they take a nose dive and end up in the land of fantasy and make believe. For this reason I had taken a long break from Zeetv. I started to watch EMA in May only because of Rachana but then lo and behold this show went the same route like every other show before.

I honestly don't know how people do it, I don't know how they could continue watching a show day in and day out which has no logic and going nowhere. I'll be honest, I tolerated EMA after May 9th only because of Raghav and Kalpi, cvs had such a good thing going with this show, they could've done so much with it but they choose to go the fantasy path. I know channels have power yes but so does the audience, if audience use the power that they have and exercise such power, channel or PH would be forced to improve their show, afterall channels and PH need people to see their shows, if they don't have an audience how will they survive?

By the way, thanks KyaRe for a nice post.

We got our cable connection in 1999.Zee then was the leading Hindi GEC,followed by Sony I guess.Knew nothing about Star Plus then.

Watched a few programmes of Zee & liked them
1:Rishtey
2:Gubbare
3:Ghar Jamai
4:Hum Paanch
5:TVS Saregama
6:Bournvita Quiz Contest
7:Jhatpat Khana
8:Hip hip hurray

Things were far better then.Would call it golden era of HIndi GECs.Had variety in content and the shows were watchable.

But with Kaun banega crorepati being a huge hit in 2001,Star Plus displaced Zee as the number 1 Hindi GEC.Star plus continued its place at the top helped by a spate of Ekta Kapoor soaps. What followed therafter continues to haunt TV viewers to this day.
Concept of TRPs came into being.Huge sponsorships came into play.Lakhs of money just for some seconds of air time during Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi-read one article.

So channels started copying programmes. That gave way to more melodrama, less content.

Most of the programmes I watched thereafter were comedies, about dramas, none of them were good.
I liked "Hubahu on Sony".These past 10 years, haven't watched much shows.Hindi GECs have no comedy shows.Full of high voltage dramas. So,I stay clear off them.

The show I watched in a really long time before EMA was "AFSAR BITIYA".It was pretty good and then Rab se sona Ishq which they ruined it up pretty bad.

EMA,I had been watching since the 4th or 5th episode.Liked it a lot.But its now destroyed beyond salvation.

And yes,it is beyond comprehension how people can sit through all the nonsense day in and day out.

Sadly channels have the power to serve up anything.Because they don't take into account opinion of millions of TV viewers in India.Rather it's just 8500 homes(all of them in cities) who have a TRP metre attached to their TVs who determine TRPs.Government seriously needs to regulate it but the channels put up excuses about the TRP metre being exepensive and that they don't want to burden the viewers by charging extra money.Government seriously needs to increase the sample size for the survey.Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India prescribed certain regulations for regulation of TRPs which are yet to be implemented.

Doordarshan(India's national broadcaster) too put up a claim for increasing the sample size and installing more TRP metres to get a realistic picture of a program's popularity.

But yes, audiences can affect if they can unsubscribe the said channels.Since 60% of their revenues is contributed by subscription fees. That won't happen. So till that day we will just have to be a mute spectator to everything.
