Racism has been apparent among many other things in the cast and CVs in their behavior & treatment towards Rachana and her onscreen character.

@ TM did not mean any disrespect to Asha. This is not about her at all.

Like it or not, many Indians have a fair skin hang up. This is a general statement, again I am not referring to Asha.

Lets leave Asha alone as I m not talking about her. Read my post Asha's name is not there. There is a reason why I feel its a serious accusation.

Color is main discussion in this post still its general statement? Amazing

Its not about what is the color of many Indian girls. This discussion is not about ratio of fair and dark girls in India.

Ok let me explain why I made this accusation

The thing that attracted me to this show was the choice of kalpi and the character of kalpi - I had assumed it was the story of a girl from a modest background, a girl who has had to fight for everything in her life, moreover a girl who was dark skinned, and more earthy looking than the pretty and glamorous pakhi. It was unstated, but it was a huge plus for me for kalpi to look like she did, in this fair and lovely advertisement dominated world, where the overarching message always is that to become successful you need to be fair, that fair is lovely.

The fact that Raghav fell in love with kalpi, and not pakhi, who was more from his world, was great, kalpis determination to bring Raghav into her world, made for awesome watch.

The new kalpi by a stroke of CVs pen is rich, and also fair skinned, I am objecting to that. I felt that the replacement is not the issue, as I said it's their prerogative and we don't know why it happened

It's the fact that they have rewritten her as a rich girl all of a sudden, and replaced her with a fairer kalpi. Her struggle, her childhood difficulties, her hard work, all that could have been shown to bear fruit, instead of this plastic surgery script

That's why it's a general statement, that why should her fortune and skin colour change by an accident? Why couldn't the writers have kept to the script of kalpi breaking the corporate glass ceiling by sheer determination and hard work?

I would have loved a kalpi whose restaurant chain went on to become the biggest and that made netu and pakhi who today make derogatory statements about her, acknowledge her as the superior one.

Now she's already a rich and strikingly beautiful just because cvs have changed her into it!

It seems as if the writers are pandering to the conventional mindset!

I am not looking to fight with anyone, never have in all my years on IF and not about to do so now either.
@ bold - I am going to ignore the sarcasm.

My mistake was assuming you are an Asha fan who has started watching the show recently and were unaware of the offscreen and onscreen drama, politics, ego and powerplay which ruined a show that had a lot of potential leaving ardent fans severely disappointed and heartbroken.

Often when we voice our thoughts newer fans get defensive or aggressive without knowing the history. For many of us its not about Asha but other folks connected to EMA.

My apologies to you for assuming you were offended being Asha fan and in my own way tried offering an olive branch with a little clarification.

I wish the newer fans take a little time to look into the past of EMA which would explain why this post was made. This is a general statement, not directed to anyone specifically.

I dont know Asha but sincerely hope she doesnt face discrimination or is a victim of politics in EMA.

This discussion ends here for me.

I understand everything. After reading posts in this forum I know one thing main issuee is replacement and their attachment with original actress. That's fair enough. I do not expect from anyone to accept replacement with pinch of salt.

BUT bringing skin color is very sensitive issue and for me its racism. Dark girls have right to dream but not fair girls? Struggle of dark skin is struggle but fair skin everything is available on platter? Color of ur skin can change ur destiny is that moral of post?

Bank balance, banglow and luxary of diwans r not for her. She is living life of someone else. In reality that rich status is not for her and one day she will come back to her originality. But what is the differebce. Kalpi1 was in love with rich raghav and planning to sattle with him and kalpi2 has rich dad. Any difference?

Lets assume some dark girl as replacement still it won't make any difference. Same complains and objections posts u will find in this forum. Becoz real matter is not skin color but they want their original kalpana back. SO lets not turn into skin color matter.

To connect with any story/character first understand the depth of story not color of skin.
There is very minor difference of skin color if u compare both the girls. Rest is work of make up. Lets not take this minor difference to another level.

I think u r taking me wrong. I m not fighting. Fight is when u start to get personal and put down each others fav. Thats not a case.

Thats not sarcasm but fact.

You read my original post no actress name is mentioned. My issue is giving different direction to this replacement and dragging skin color.

@TM...You made the post on the characters & expectations of apples, and how in one stroke CVs changed the apple into an peach. Which is a totally different fruit & has no connections with the original fruit except having a slight resemblance to shape??? Isn't that the what your are trying to say??
