Last Part

'Kalpana Raghav Singhaniya ' said she in a hushed tone as her fingers ran a hand above those words. Her lips bore a ear-to-ear smile along with the dark red blush that adored her cheeks. "Is this how it feels when u r in love ? Is that how secured one feels when he is in love ? How I wish I could feel so always ...but aai.."

R : Hmmm...plane ticket ? How unusual & interesting it is ...isn't it wifey ? Thats why u r staring at it since such a long time.

That familiar voiced whisper in her ear startled her as she looked in its direction. It was Raghav , he was peering over her shoulder trying to look at what was interesting Kalpana so much in the ticket. Then allowing his rear to hit the soft seats of the airplane he again looked at Kalpana questioningly

K : It's ...ummm...Nothing ! U say ..u called Gauri aunty ? Why has she called us back to Mumbai in such haste ??

R : I am wondering the same. I hope everything is alright ! Her monotonous voice I heard on the phone is worrying me Kalpana. Never has she spoken to me in such a manner. It sounded so dead ...as if someone has betrayed her bad !

Kalpana held his hand comfortingly.

K : You are just over-imagining things Raghav. I suppose it is another 1 of Paakhi's pranks. I bet !!

R : I hope so !!

K : (squeezing his hand lightly) Why worry when u have wifey ?

That made him smile. The last time he had used this dialogue , they were fake fighting ...

The plane took off leaving behind a snowy Dehradun. The journey was short , but Raghav couldn't help watching his huge hand under Kalpana's. Her small lil palm barely managed to cover his hand, but its warmth was spreading uniformly across his body. Minutely observing her as she kept staring at the clouds outside "She has changed ...she has definitely changed ! She no longer hesitates to touch me, her eyes ...the shine in them was something else...but why do they yet have confusion in them ? No worries, I wud discard the confusions also. But I am really happy today wifey ...Today u entrusted me with your secrets, ur past. I promise u ...I will always keep u happy...but I will wait for that day , the day when u will urself let go all your inhibitions & come running towards me. (Hayee...my special liking for this bhaaga-daudi scene). At the end , its only u who can conquer ur own fears.I hope u don't take much of time though...It hurts a lot every time I have to call u fake wifey or realize that our marriage is just a deal..." He sighed.

Their plane soon landed in Mumbai as they took a cab home. Now standing in front of the main door to their apartment, they rang the bell. Then waiting for it to open , they looked at each other. The feeling was similar to the one school kids have when they haven't done their homework. The only difference being, this time none of em knew what was coming their way.

The door creaked open with an irritating voice which echoed in the ultra-silence of their floor's corridor which just had their apartment.

K : (gasping) Aa...aa...Aai ?

She saw Kamla at the door. Her face was worried, eyebrows furrowed while her forehead had deep horizontal lines ...not of oldage , but tension. They entered.

R : Mo...

Gauri : Shut up Raghav !

Paakhi quickly placed a hand on Gauri's shoulder in an attempt to stop her from scolding her brother (Dream come true ...true ...true...lol😆😆). But Gauri knocked Paakhi's hand off her shoulder as she ascended towards the duo.

G : (almost teary) The both of Ull have played with our emotions. Ull were in a contract marriage since the past 5 months & here were we like idiots becoming happy when Ull went to Dehradun. We were worried when Ull fought ..(laughs sarcastically) Even that wud be a lie wouldn't it.

R : Mom , its nothing like tha...

G : Do u want me to trust u Raghav ? Just tell me ...or should I trust Kalpana's lawyer & the divorce papers Ull have already signed ..

Thats when Gauri angled her body , so as to allow the person sitting behind comes in view.

K : Mr XYZ ? What are u doing over ... (stops) O god !

Kalpana's hand obliviously reached Raghav's palm as she entwined her fingers with his tightly. As if trying to hold him back & refrain him from leaving ...somethin which she herself had paved a way for it a couple of days ago.

XYZ : Kalpana Ma'am , u urself had told me to come with the papers the day u come back to Mumbai... as u wanted the divorce asap. On asking ur aai she told me that u r coming today so...

The lawyer continued saying something, but Kalpana was deaf to all the words which followed. She saw Raghav release a laboured breath as his chest shuddered with its effect. His eyes wide with shock & had a tinch of pain in them. His hold slightly loosened on Kalpana's hand as he pulled it out of Kalpana's grasp slowly. He then turned to face her

R : U called him here ? For the divorce kalpi ??

"Why ? Why God damn it? Am I nothing to u ? Am I so bad ? Do u not feel what I have in my heart for u? Not even a bit ...don't I mean anything to u ? Then what was that side of urs in Dehradun which said that u trusted me ...trusted me enough to share ur deepest secrets ? I have never liked a woman more than u? After turning my world upside down, u now say that u wanna leave me? "

He wished to question all of this to her. But didn't , afterall they had jumped into this lava of contract marriage together. He didn't want anybody else pointing fingers at Kalpana, & holding her responsible for the divorce alone. Instead he averted his gaze, not waiting for her answer...fearing to see or hear something which might scar him bad ..scar him for life!!

R : Yes Mom, we were in a contract marriage. Our marriage was a deal, a mutual one. I don't want any of u speaking in this matter ...

Gauri almost fainted on hearing his bleak tone.

Paakhi : But bhai ..

R : Not a word from anyone now.

Another swift turn to his body & he grabbed a chair & had himself seated on it. He was now facing Kalpana's lawyer, who sat at the other side of the dining table .. "If that's what u want kalpi ..." He inhaled deeply.

R : May I have the papers Mr XYZ ?

Flipping through the papers, he noticed his signature at the bottom of the document. Document of a divorce appeal of RAGHAV SINGHANIYA from his wife KALPANA RAGHAV SINGHANIYA...It was done at their 1st wedding night. Adjacent to it was her signature. He quickly turned the page

R : (asking the lawyer) Am I supposed to sign here also ?

XYZ : (handing him a pen ) Yes (then looking at Gauri, Kamla & Paakhi) but Mr. Singhaniya ...I think ...

R : May I have a pen ? Now ...

(Ok ...I know I cud have written something intense , but I preferred insane...afterall coincidences was always full of it😆😆)

Raghav , controlling his trembling hand kept the documents on the table. Then getting the pen from the lawyer , he reached the blank where his signature wud finally approve of the divorce. His hand hovered a bit on the blank ...but the nib of the pen never reached the spot. Fiddling with the pen for a moment , he finally huffed... Then picking up the papers, he forwarded it in Kalpana's direction.

R : U sign first !

She looked at him. His painful eyes meeting her vulnerable ones briefly as she took the papers & the pen from his hand. Then taking a seat beside Raghav, she held the pen firmly. But her moments with Raghav continued to flash in front of her eyes...especially her night of realization in Dehradun. She now knew his importance ... Gaping at the papers blankly for a while , she then turned towards her aai... Her pen advanced the paper abruptly, but stopped when it ended up blotting not more than a dot. Within no time , the paper was slided in Raghav's direction

K : No ...u sign first !

Raghav looked at her with surprise. She had a very familiar look on her face , similar to the one he had seen in Dehradun while he fed soup to her. Propping his fingers on the world's most unwanted papers (the divorce papers) he slided them back in front of her

R : No Kalpi ...u first !

His tone hoarse but eyes hopeful. He saw the papers being slided back to him

K : No ... U sign them first !

Her huge cat eyes in despair...in an unusual eagerness. Somethin which Raghav had never witnessed seeing in his ever-composed wifey...

R : Sign them Kalpana !

K : No I won't ...

Raghav turned his head a bit to address the people around

R : Cud we expect getting some privacy ?

The lawyer & the 3 ladies who were so long spectators to the U first U first tennis match exited the scene as requested , actually ordered by Raghav.

The papers now rested in the middle with Raghav & Kalpana's respective hands pushing it towards the others firmly, their eyes locked

R : U sign first Miss Kalpana Vitthal Jadhav !

Those words earned a gasp from Kalpana as her hold onto the docs stuttered a bit. Raghav smirked with joy , but veiled it quickly...

R : Sign it FAKE wifey !

Gone was the confusion in her eyes now. She stood up straight ...

K : I won't ..do u get that !

R : But u appealed for it didn't u ...

K : Ok Raghav ...call me whatever u want for saying this ...for violating the rules of our marriage deal ...but ...I am in love with u ! It's just... I kept fearing to accept it ... (now is the summarization of the entire ss) I didnt like u much in the beginning...with u flaunting ur looks & ofcourse ur stupid jokes. But then, I became used to them. So much so that I begun liking them , I really really liked ur sweet gesture of staying awake playing video games with me at our 1st night , I liked it when u accompanied me to the party. Danced with me just to shut Riya's mouth, why that ...I also liked ur side which wud listen to my shoutings quietly...our every dinner together Raghav...our every chat ...every 'what do u wanna have for dinner' message...I remember it all...I realized it all ...I cherished it all ...I loved it all...I love u Raghav. U were that one man who managed to get all the trust I have in me ...I trust u as much I trusted Baba ...

(a long pause)I am sorry Raghav , but none of it was in my control ... I did try , by threatening my ownself with aai's name, this divorce appeal was 1 of those lame attempts...but u forced me to fall for u Raghav...

(another long pause) I am sorry ...I - I - I just cannot sign this paper now ..I need some time !

She was about to sit on the chair with despair but was interrupted. Raghav clasped her wrist tightly & had her sprawled on his lap instantly. Tucking the flicks of her hair behind her ear he gazed at her softly. His hand gripping her waist in place (thank god the gadha isnt asleep this time 😆😆) This was so similar to the dream he had a few back. She was too much in daze to struggle out of his embrace, basically ...did she want to ?

R : So how much time u need WIFEY ? I don't know bout u ..but I am gonna require an entire lifetime for sure ...😉😉

He said so brushing his Pinocchio long nose with her small pug one. Their lips were about to meet when Kalpana was pulled out of Raghav's arms abruptly

Kalpana's hand reached her cheek immediately as a counter-reaction as she looked at the bearer of those hands. Raghav too got off his seat ... It was Kamla.

Kam : U swine ! U can't be doing this to me ...quietly sign these papers & be the owner of 1/2 of Singhaniya empire. Do u even know that amount u fool ?

K : (shocked) Aai ...what are u saying...I love Raghav...u urself wanted to see me settled with Raghav ... Now why do u want me to sign these papers ??

Kam : Shutup ! I got u married to Raghav for just 1 reason..his money ! & so were the remaining guys I had gotten to u before u married raghav. Cool enough for me that u chose the best pick ...the heir of the Singhaniya empire. I was even more thrilled when I heard ur convo on the phone once ,about ur wedding being fake. & that obviously seemed like a better deal , I wud have u to work for me like a donkey 24X7 as well as the Singhaniya wealth. But no ...u had to spit this love thing on my face , right ? Did I work so hard upon u for so many years for this ...no ...

K : Hahaha...aai ...I know u r joking !!

She was laughing , but the tears that were biting her from within didn't go unnoticed by Raghav. He wanted to go to her , swallow her up in his arms to comfort her...but he knew it was her fight. She had to face it alone , he wud be there standing behind , undoubtedly, but only as a support. He further gulped as he saw his wifey breaking ...

K : (almost in tears) I am right na aai ...amn't I ? Why wud u do this to ur own child ?? Aai...

Kam : O don't call me that. I am not ur aai & neither was I 1 to Pakya. Ur real aai passed away when both of Ull were toddlers. I was just an aaya at ur place. But after Mrs Jadhav's death , ur father asked me to marry him so I cud take care of Ull. He used to pay me handsomely to keep my mouth shut & not tell Ull about ur real aai. But after ur baba's death , all sources of my income stopped. A smart u was the only thing ur disgusting Baba left for me. What wud I do ? U were smart , but very very bubbly & chirpy...so I had to curb u ...manipulate u in a way that ur world wud limit around me only. & I succeeded as well , before this man came in ur life (gesturing towards Raghav) to ruin my plans.

Kamla's failure in her plan in front of her own eyes had resulted her outburst .

Kalpana stumbled at her place after hearing all those things. This was the most bitter truth she might have encountered in her life ever ... Gauri & her daughter aka Raghav's sister Paakhi (lol ...I just can't get tired of writing this line😈) stood as silent spectators. But before anyone cud hold her for support, Kalpana stabalized herself. Her eyes shut , hands fisted tightly & chest heaving with all the anger & pain 1 cud feel in the world..

Kam : All coz of u ...(pointing towards Raghav)

And there was she, Kalpana Raghav Singhaniya the strong woman as she held kamla's finger in her sleek ones & lowered her hand.

K : Not a word against my husband aa...(she stops as she was supposed to call her aai) U have had enough of me & badmouthing my entire family. Keeping ur selfishness aside & forgetting it for a while, I thank u for looking after me for so long & raising me. Keeping those things in Mind I am 'requesting' u to please leave me alone. U already have my accounts on ur name ...they will remain so. Take that as a payment ..but please stay away from my life.

With those words Kalpana dragged kamla to the door & asked her to leave. Kamla was yet trying to manipulate Kalpana, but she was not the one who wud fall weak now ... Never ..it was afterall what she had inherited from her Baba . (why on earth am I writing so goody goody stuff abt that Joru ka Gulaam🤢🤢)

K : (getting kamla out of the house) But amongst all of it , I wud like to thank u aai ..for getting me married to Raghav ...thank u !

Those were the last words that kamla heard before the door was slammed on her face. The wall of self control & strength finally broke as Kalpana's tears let loose. She didn't want to face Raghav now , she can't face Gauri & Paakhi also. How wud she ? Wiping the trail of tears off her cheeks kalpana turned around & held the door knob. But couldn't turn it , it was Raghav who restricted her exit.

K : Raghav please let me go ..I want some time alone.

R : No wifey ...u are not going anywhere...u are one brave woman u know ? And henceforth ..u will never be alone in ur bad times. Voicing ur pains helps ...trust me !

K : Raghav..

R : Shhh...

He held her hand in his , entwined their fingers & squeezed it tight.

R : Come with me !

Then guiding her inside the house , he gestured Gauri & Paakhi to leave. He took her to his bedroom. (no ahem ahem thoughts please ...hum adult cheeze nahi likhte😆😆)Her vulnerable state made her body like a lifeless corpse as she followed Raghav blankly. Now, he was the only being she lay her entire trust on. Once in the room, Raghav was about to free her hand from his clasp, but she held it tighter instead. And that was it..the last string of self control broke ...she hugged him tight. She cried & cried & cried & cried like a baby...telling him how wrong & how horrible she felt to accept that she was serving a woman, sacrificing her ownself for her greed all these years.

After about an hour

K : Raghav why are we here ? In ur room ??

R : It's OUR room sweetheart !

Raghav felt Kalpana's body tense on hearing the term 'sweetheart'. He chuckled resting his chin on her head while his arms wrapped more protectively across her shoulders

R : Better get used to such words wifey. & As for ur answer of we being here is ... (brushing her hand with his thumb(kindda seductively))

K : hmmm ?

R : (then releasing both her hands,as if she was the one seducing him..he spoke faking a shocked expression) mujhe karate aata hai. So don't u even try of getting thoughts of molesting me ... Warna kal paper mein aa jaayega 'Pati ko akela paakar, patni ne ki uski chhedkaani !'

& Raghav heard his all time fav melody , her laughter. Suddenly he heard noises of pattering drops outside along with his fav music.(ab mariee kuch likhe & baarish na ho 😆😆) It was raining. As if remembering something

R : Wifey ...u remember the last time it had rained ? When u were reluctant on sheowing me ur paintings ? U had also taunted me "Only artists can understand it " (part 2)

K : Raaaggghhhaavvv !! Why are u getting that topic now ?? Lets just ...

R : (cutting her statement) Have u heard the name of RS ?

K : Who the professional painter ? Who doesn't know him Raghav , he is one of the best...I.hope I get to meet him some day.

Raghav chuckled on the parody...she wanted to meet someone she is already married to..someone in whose embrace she was snuggling.

Withdrawing himself from the hug, Raghav stood up & walked to his cupboard. He fetched a roll kindda thing from the top shelf as he handed it to Kalpana. Wondering what might it be she held a corner in order to unroll it ...her eyes widened when she saw the initials RS at the bottom. Then further unrolling , she smiled ,it reached her eyes...

R : So ,do u like it ? It was the day I first saw u 😳😳 (part 1)

K : Raghav ...I love it !! But it isn't complete ...

R : What ? Show me the painting

He checked it. It was Kalpana looking upwards , her fingers holding onto the railing of her balcony & legs hung up in air. The entire scene was just the way Raghav recalled it to be. Everything was perfect !

R : What's wrong in this wifey ?

K : I wud rather like it if u had painted the scene which was seconds later ...ur hand holding me for life ... Wont that be more accurate ?

She said so lacing their fingers again as she nuzzled slightly in his chest.

How he loved that feeling !

Gazing at the painting in one hand & Kalpana in the other Raghav had that extra happy smile on his face .. It was like having the start of his coincidental story in one hand .. & its climax in the other ...but is it a climax ?? Naa, this was just the beginning of their new life together. Devoid of all obstacles ...

R : (kissing the top of her head) Who could say coincidences can turn out to be so beautiful ?

Listening to his heartbeats again coupled with the noises of the raindrops , she spoke

K : There are no coincidences Raghav ! There are no coincidences

Phew ! Done finally ...illogical laga ? Then be a little dillogical !!😉😉
