That night kalpi stood staring at Mumbai's night sky.Seeing Raghav today had kindled all old memories...his desertion of her,her mother choosing paaki yet again ,her leaving Mumbai,her decision to go to Delhi.Well ,every dark cloud does have a silver lining,she thought.She had got a job on the basis of her results and the recommendation of the principal of her boarding school,whom she had approached for help.the rest ,as one would say,was history.Oberoi noticing her intelligence,her dilligence,her commitment promoted her up the ladder.Deals after deals were got through her valuable inputs.It was not long before she got her desserts with regards to her career.Her personal life had still been in shambles.That was when Rahul had entered her life.Rahul,a small smile escaped her lips.the person who had taught her to laugh at her fears and move on,who made her realise not to run behind people who did not love you but to care for those who loved you.The Oberois were childless.Both of them developed a fond liking for Kalpi...they wanted her with them always.Kalpi was in a quandary,but Rahul had made her realise that there was more love and happiness in Delhi than Mumbai.Even baba had ultimately told her the same
Baba,she thought of him with nostalgia.he was the only person who had stood by her,who had understood her pain and who had seconded Rahuls decision of agreeing to the adoption.After all ,he had said what was in a name?kalpi would always be his daughter even if she was not a Jadhav.
She had kept in touch with him...helped them financially,secured a job for Pakhya ,but this had been done secretly.No one had known that she had been behind all this,though Vittal strongly suspected this.Kamala,Raghav and Paaki were taboo. every time Vittal tried to tell her about them,she would stop him.She was no longer interested.She had moved on,or so she thought ,till today.
Tears rolled down her eyes,those tears that she had never shed two years ago.Today it felt like the dam had burst.All her pent up emotions were let loose.It was a long time before sleep overpowered her.
The next morning kalpi awoke with a bad headche,to the sound of the pounding door.With a grumble and a frown she opened it,only to smile widely and launch herself into someone's arms.There stood Rahul Oberoi,MD of Oberoi constructions and nephew of Oberoi.Tall,dashing,sauve,well dressed,with an ever smiling countenance ...one could say he was the anithesis of Raghav,not exactly...they did have something in common.Both were selfmade men ,both were handsome ,Raghav in a dark way,but Rahul had a positive air about him.He filled the atmosphere with positivity by his very presence.To kalpi he was her anchor,her confidant,her guru,her advisor and above all her best friend.Right from the beginning she had intrigued him.It had taken him a very long time to break through the tough wall she had built a round her.But Rahul was a very patient man and ultimately ,his patience won. As he won her trust,she had opened up to him and told him of her painful past.And Rahul from then on,had vowed to stand between her and any negativity.Hehad started the healing process and slowly,but steadily the scars seemed to be fading.He had thought she was ready for Mumbai and so had sent her alone.Yet,last night ,when he had spoken to her,a small doubt niggled him.And so he had landed in Mumbai to be her guardian angel ,to protect her from the dark forces who could harm her.
But to kalpi ,he cited a meeting as an excuse.He knew Kalpi would not take too kindly the fact that he felt she needed his company and positive therapy.She was closer to him than anybody else,except Mr.Oberoi.but there were times when the prickles would go up and she would lock herself in her fortress.Strong she might think she was and present a stern exterior to the outside world,but only he knew that under that toughness,she was all softness which would crack at more emotional onslaught.
Despite kalpi protesting,Rahul was adamant.He had decided to accompany her in the morning to Singhania constructions.His meeting ,he said could be done later in the day.Kalpi sighed .when Rahul had decided ,there was no winning.After all was not that the reason he had broken her defences and won her friendship.his perseverance was admirable ,but tiresome at times.Moreover,what he said made sense.After all he ,too was interested in the details of the deal ,as he was MD.Considering their friendship,there were times,she tended to forget about that.
9AM Singhania office
Raghav was restlessly pacing.He had decided that he would gather courage and talk to kalpi today,no matter how she treated him.Today,he would explain everything to her.He would ask her for a second chance.He was confident she would still harbour feelings for him.Girls like kalpi loved only once and loved deeply.When they fell in love,it was for life.He would set things right again.Even if it took time,he would woo her again.As for paaki,he could easily get the marriage annulled.he was filled with excitement.
The door opened and Ramu announced their arrival.As raghav rushed outside to greet her,he stopped in her tracks.Holding Kalpi's hands and whispering something in her ears that made her laugh was a debonair and swashbuckling gentleman.
