Part 3:
Kalpana went into her room and immediately got dressed up. She put on a light blue dress with some earrings to match it. She looked at herself in the mirror. Yes. She was looking exactly the way Paakhi said she should look. It was time to go for the party. Kalpana was looking forward to seeing her favorite actor again but she also could deny the fact that she was sad at the same time. He reminded her of acting. The thing she loved the most in the world. She had always dreamed of becoming an actress and then someday reach the same level as Raghav so she could work with him. "Kalpi tu tyaar ho gayi behta?" Kamla called out. Kalpana immediately snapped out of her thoughts and called back, "Haan Ai-"
As she went out into the living room Kamla got up from the couch. She smiled and said, "You are looking lovely." Kalpana smiled. She rarely got attention from Kamla Ma. And when she did give her the attention it meant the world to her. "Thank you, Ai" Kalpana replied. Kamla glanced at the watch. "Tu party keliye nikal tujhe der ho jaayegi" she told Kalpi. Kalpana replied, "Mujhe Paakhi pick up karne aa rahi hai thodi hi der mein." "Acha voh already-memsaab aa rahi hai" Kamla said nodding her head. "Tumhe uss se bhi baddi ban na hai. Patta nahi uss Paakhi ki Ma toh jab bhi dekho jitaati hi rehti hai ki hum log kitne gareeb hai. Haan tu uss Neetu ke saath saath uss Paakhi ki bachi ko bhi dikhana.." Kamla was talking more to herself now as she folded some clothing. "Ai!" Kalpi said. "Paakhi meri dost hai! Tum usske baarein mein aisa matt bolo. Sirf isi liye kyun ki voh teri dushman Neetu ki behti hai-" Just then there was a knock on the door. "Jaa dekh le" Kamla said turning to go into Pakhya's room to put his clothing away.
Kalpana went to the door and saw Paakhi wearing a light purple dress. They were both wearing the same type of dress just different colors. "Tu tyaar ho gayi?" Paakhi asked Kalpi excitedly. Kalpi smiled and nodded. "Jaane se pehle mein teri Ai ko hello keh kar aati hoon" Paakhi said with a smile. "Ai ke paas matt jaao" Kalpi pleaded to Paakhi. (Kamla was enemies with Neetu so she also hated Paakhi and made fun of her) Kalpi didn't want her best friend to get hurt again because of her mom's rude remarks. "Nah it's fine" Paakhi said moving past Kalpi.
Kalpi followed Kamla into Pakhya's room. "Hi Kamla Aunty" Paakhi said politely. Kamla said, "hello" without turning around from the closet. "Kalpi jaldi ghar aa jaana" Kamla said. "Ji" Kalpi said.
As the girls turned around to leave Kamla's cell rang. "Ji mummy ji boliye" Kamla said. "Aap ghar aa rahi hai kutch hafto keliye? Boht acha." Kalpi felt a lump in her throat. Whenever Aaji came to visit she would always tell Kamla things about how to keep young girls in control and Kamla would slowly get more strict with her.
Paakhi noticed Kalpi's sad face and said, "Come Kalpi." Kalpi nodded and got into the car. Throughout the drive Kalpi kept fidgeting in her seat. "Apne favorite actor se milne vaali ho toh tu nervous ho na?" Paakhi asked with a wink. Kalpana blushed. "Aisi koi baat nahi hai, Paakhi!"
Meanwhile, at the party Raghav was irritating Sammy to the core. "Voh tumaari employee hai na kya naam tha usska.. haan Kalpana Jadhav voh aayi nahi ab tak?" Raghav asked Sammy for the fifth time. "Tujhe kahin dikhaye de ri hai?" Sammy asked sarcastically. "Nahi na.." Raghav cleared his throat and adjusted his collar nervously. "Generally asking" Raghav said. "Yeah right..can't I see how attracted you have become to that Jadhav girl?" Sammy asked with a smirk on his face. "Sammy.." Raghav said threateningly. Sammy laughed and shook his head. But then suddenly Sammy stopped shaking his head. "Ruk kyun gaye huh?" Raghav asked irritatedly. "Stunning!" Sammy murmured. Raghav followed his gaze towards the entrance and his eyes widened as well. Only difference was he was looking at Kalpi while Sammy was looking at Paakhi. It seemed as if his breathing had stopped.
As the girls made their way up to them, Sammy composed himself. "Hello Sir" Paakhi said with a smile. "Hi, Sir" Kalpi said nodding at both Raghav and Sammy. Raghav was just staring at Kalpi who didn't notice as she was nervously looking down. Sammy decided he better do something. He stepped on Raghav's toe. "Ow!" Raghav said clutching his toe. "Kya hua, Sir?" Kalpi asked quickly. "K-kutch nahi" Raghav said, shooting his best friend a furious look as Sammy gave him the thumbs down signal.
"Sir you are looking not too bad" Paakhi said. "Thank you, Ms. Kapoor" Sammy said. "Paakhi bolaiye na" Paakhi said. Sammy nodded. His heart was beating fast and he assumed the same must be happening with Raghav judging by the look on his face. He better get them out of there and fast. "Excuse me, girls but we have other employees to greet" Sammy said quickly. He pulled Raghav by the arm and they walked away.
"Inhe kya hogaya hai" Kalpi asked. Paakhi put an arm around Kalpi. "My dear friend...lakta hai ki hum dono hai hi itne khoobsurat." "Chodo na, voh sach keh reh thai, unhe aur employees ko bhi attend karna hi hai" Kalpi said. She didn't dare believe that the famous actor Raghav would be amazed by her looks.
Paakhi saw a friend of hers and walked over to her to say hello. Kalpi was left standing alone. She nervously looked Raghav's way. She felt that just as she looked up at him he turned his head the other way. 'Galat famlee chod de Kalpi' Kalpi thought smacking herself on the head.
A few moments later someone (Maybe Sammy's friend) went into the middle of the crowd and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen!" Everyone turned to look at him. "I am Rahul Mehra, Samar's friend! I find this party quite boring so let's dance!" The crowd began talking at once. "And choose your partners wisely as this may be the only time you get to choose. Every round we will be switching partners!"
Kalpi's eyes widened. Yeh keisa game hua? Raghav was thinking the same thing but for a different reason. Girls needed a chance to drool over him and this was the perfect opportunity for them to do so. "Sammy yeh tera dost kya kehra hai?" Raghav hissed. Sammy just shrugged. "Tumaari tarra voh bhi mera dost hai" Sammy said. "So I can't say no na." Raghav and Kalpi both turned to leave but stopped when Rahul said, "Nuh uh."
"Jeise ki aap log dekh re hai yeh dono bhaag ne ki koshish kar re hai, aur ye bilkul bhi allowed nahi hai chaahe voh ek actor hi kyun na ho." Raghav clenched his fists in anger. No one could force him to do anything. No way. "You all get five minutes to choose you partners..go!" Rahul said glancing at his watch. Kalpi and Raghav looked around as everyone rushed to find partners. Sammy didn't want to leave the chance so he rushed up to Paakhi. "May I?" he asked Paakhi holding out his hand. Paakhi smiled and took it. They got into the circle together.
Kalpi and Raghav were standing alone when a girl made her way up to Raghav. "Sir would you dance with me, I am Mania-" "Listen I don't care who you are, I am just not in the mood to dance ok?" Raghav told her. Mania shrugged and walked away returning to the partner she had ditched for Raghav. "Idiot kahi ki.. mere saath dance karne keliye apne boyfriend ko chodegi" Raghav muttered to himself.
Rahul who had found a partner noticed Raghav and Kalpi standing alone. "Come on yaar, ask the girl out" Rahul said going up to Raghav. Raghav shook his head. "Itne badde actor ho itna sa kaam nahi kar sakte?" "I can too" Raghav said. "Alright" Rahul said grinning and making his way back to his partner.
Raghav looked towards Kalpi who was nervously looking down at her hands. 'Well Raghav you do seem to like her so just ask her for a dance' a voice in his head told him.
'But that would violate the rules of-' another voice in his head started. 'Bhaar mein gaye rules!' the other voice in his head said.
Making up his mind, Raghav made his way up to Kalpi. "Tum mere saath dance karogi?" he asked her. She slowly lifted her gaze up to look into his hopeful eyes. "Sir mein aapke saath dance..?" she asked. "Of course, it's only the matter of one round" Raghav told her. Kalpi looked over to Paakhi who was nodding her head that Kalpi should say yes. Kalpana smiled shyly and placed her hand in Raghav's. "Sure," she said. Raghav grinned and took her into the circle.
Kalpi just looked down shyly. 'Baaki ladkiya ki tarra nahi hai yeh' Raghav thought. Just then the music started. 'Tum Hi Ho'.
Hum tere bin ab reh nahi sakte
Raghav twirled her around which made her blush.
Tere bina kya wajood mera
Tujh se juda gar ho jayenge toh khud se hi ho jaayenge judaa.
Raghav knew Kalpi wouldn't like it if someone got really close to her so he kept a reasonable distance from her. 'Actor hai lekeen phir bhi kitni respect karta hai' Kalpi thought.
Kyun ki-
The music stopped. 'Darn it' Raghav thought. 'Only two words were left to leave an effect on Kalpi.
The guys were to stay put while the girls rotated. Kalpi smiled and went up to the next partner. Paakhi ended up with Raghav. The song 'Sun Ra Hai' started playing.
Apne karam ki kar adaayein..
"Sir" Paakhi said. "If you don't mind can I ask you one question?" Raghav nodded. "Aap film industry se ho na toh aap agar Hrithik Roshan ko mujhse milvaa dete toh acha hota na" Paakhi said excitedly. "Oh yeah..why not I introduce everyone to their favorite actors? I have nothing else to do" Raghav said sarcastically.
Apne karam ki kar adaayein-
Switch. Raghav's eyes widened when he saw who his partner was.
