Hi friends,
Just killing my time waiting for today's episode in the evening. So thought I'd pen down my thoughts on these two characters shown in this show.
Though both the girls born on the same day, they have such different characteristics!
Lets talk about Paakhi first:
The so called poor rich girl! Born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Considered lucky for her father and a darling of the kapoor khandaan! Predicted to achieve whatever she wants in her life. She not only has the riches but also manages to gain selfless love from her maid Kamla.
It is not that her parents don't love her! If you notice whatever Neetu does is to get some attention from Paakhi and she is jealous of Kamla becoming a mother to her. She has always harmed Kalpi because of Paakhi. I agree she is not a normal mother but will not agree she does not love Paakhi!. She is very possessive about her daughter. Her so called brother who used to despise her still cares for her and pampers her with her favourite branded clothes and even though he hates it but he eventually allowed his enemy to enter his house just for his sister!!
But like all rich parents they could not devote their entire time for her! Now now is that a crime??? It would be wrong to say she was neglected! Cos inspite of all her tantrums and drama she put on all her demands were met, always. She was never sent to any boarding school or anywhere away from her parents. She wanted Kamla maa always and she had her and her father saw to it that Kamla works for them even if they personally did not like her. What more can one expect from a very high class parent?
And still she gains pity and sympathy and more love from Kamla maa!
I wont call her self obsessed but her character is portrayed too dumb to see the realities in life. She calls Kalpi her sister because Kamla is also her mother. Whereas she herself feels jealous that Neetu dotes more on her son than her. If she being the real sister can get jealous of Prem and be angry on her mom then why cant Kalpi be mad at her? And she still has the audacity to ask her. Kalpi tujhe mujhse koi problem hai kya?
And now she has set her eyes on Raaghav. Nothing wrong in that after all it was Raaghav who kept saving her like a knight in shining armour every time she was in trouble. He is a complete hero for her and she is smitten by him! Now in her dreamland all the time she has friends, and even Kamla maa to discuss her feelings towards Raaghav! She is still a child who is ready to throw tantrums if her demands are not meant. She is still in her doll world and thinks her life is similar to a fairy tale where she will surely get her prince charming. How can then Raaghav not like her? He has to be in love with her else why would he spend time with her? True she does not know the revenge motive behind his initial advances towards her.
But is she in love with is something yet to be revealed. Is this just an infatuation? She seems to be affected by his pain but is never able to anything by herself to ease it. Cos its always Kalpi who ends up doing that. So is she not behaving like her parents now? Though she knows his taste in dressing now she has not taken the effort of dressing up in such clothes... She wants his attention and she manages to capture it for some time and is happy with that itself. Remember even in childhood she was very good in getting Kamla's attention by faking an injury etc.
It is strange though that Kamla's upbringing has not brought about much changes in her..
Now lets see our Kalpi::::
Here is a girl born into a family where her father has already lost his job before she is born and soon after birth her mother is forced to work as a domesctic help in a rich family only to be compared with the rich daughter throughout her life. She had started sacrificing right from the days when she was dependent on her mother's feed where Paakhi was given priority and she had to be fed the expressed milk even though she being the biological child. This done she turns into a mature child who always understands what her mother has to undergo to keep the house running and is always ready to support her and accompanies her mother to the Kapoor mansion just so that she can be with her! But the irony of her fate, she is distanced further from her mom when she sees her mom do things for another girl which probably her mom has never done for her! She was always labelled as the samajhdar beti and was made to gulp all of Kamla's indifference and neglect, forcefully down her throat by just telling her that she will be the one who will fulfill her mother's dreams.. and so her struggle begins. At such a tender age she shows great understanding and is ready to give up things just because her mother has asked her to. She too is helpful and cheerful but is never prioritised by her mom. But feels great when her mom defends her when Neetu asks her to work. For her that is her mom's cncern and care towards her. For her it is enough that her mom works day and night and struggles to earn a living for them and still sends her to school.
Even when she worked at Neetu's place for her mother, she could not be there personally for her mom but at that age arranged for the financial help which even her father could not arrange. And instead of appreciating this act Kamla condemns this and punishes her to go to school. Though we know its for her better future, little does the young confused girl child realise that she is not being punished or banished!
And to add to her woes her mother rescues a drowning Paakhi when her own child is also drowning besides her and she does not even realise it until Paakhi asks her about Kalpi. Is this not neglect? Did she even call out for help to rescue Kalpi?? which probably the Kapoors would have done in case they did not want to jump in the water.
I find that like every child of a great person has had to suffer neglect, Kalpi too have suffered from Kamla's greatness. Yet the girl lives every day of her life which was not saved by her mother to fulfill her dreams!
She faces charges of theft because of her mother's proximity to Paakhi and her dream for Kalpi. and years later she again becomes the victim as she is made to fail in her exams as Neetu does not want Kamla's dream to come true!
This girl has victimised always because of her mother and yet she loves her mother to no end. Yet she struggles to make her mother all hers. She has no friends who can advise her or counsel her and she cannot confide into her mom as now there is a big gap between them. She faces humiliation from Raghav, Sammy and Prem and is hurt but resurfaces like a wounded tiger with a vengeance, ignorant of the fact that all these hurt and injuries have actually made her weak from inside and she needs to be tended to. She needs love to heal all her wounds. And then walks Raghav with his confession.
Bereft of love does not make her inhuman as she ends up taking care of Raghav naturally even after all the taunts and insults he made on her. She was focused and never took advantage of Raaghav and neither was she an opportunist and proved that she was also loyal by rejecting Prem's proposal. Such simplicity and straight forwardedness and such grit in her attitude and still caring enough, could surely make anyone go head over heels after her. Anyone in Raaghav's place would fall in love with her.
But, unlike Paakhi she is still not able to believe what Raghav has confessed as life is not a fairy tale for her. For a child who never got her mother's love just the way she wanted how can she be so lucky to have a guy like Raghav fall in love with her. Thinking it as a mirage in the desert she kept running away from it as she has never seen or felt the rain of love. Father and brother love her but she was away from her family right from a tender age and that does increase the distance in relations and it does make a difference!
Now as she slowly realises that Raaghav is not a mirage but an oasis of love in her deserted life she wants to be in this state forever and then again comes the ignorance and now he has started avoiding her.
Her heart has gone through so much I wonder if it is strong enough to withhold any more hurt or injuries. She has to do a lot and prove herself but will she be able to do so with a wounded heart and a singed soul??
Though both these girls have a lot of things in common they are so diverse just like the earth and the sky.
