A Twisted Tale Part 17

Raghav got hold of her and literally grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the elevator.

Raghav: (orders) it's going to be a long night. You are helping me in reorganising the data base.

Tingles shoots up Kalpi's arm, she could not reply just nodded meekly. Raghav didn't stop at her cubicle, instead continued striding towards his office. He pulls a chair next to her behind his desk and pushed her down onto it. He was really angry but why that was the question. He grabbed a file of the table and sat next to her. He began flicking through it, pulling out random documents. Kalpi logged into company's financial reports.

Kalpi's POV: Thank god I'd already remembered all the passwords and usernames. I just have to pick up the documents and scan through them, until I find the right one.

She began going through the database and cutting few results out. She was calculating the amount, the Grewal's need to pay. Lost in her work she forgot about the handsome man standing next to her. Raghav kept staring at her while she calculated the amount, as if he had not seen her in years...

Raghav's POV: I have no idea from where this girl got this much strength. I'm sure she doesn't wanna see my face yet she is sitting before me doing only her work. The way that guy touched her, I felt like punching him hard. I'm losing my mind over her...

Kalpi: Ninety-eight thousand six hundred fifty two lakh and twenty three paise.

Raghav: (confused) What??

Kalpi: (fidgeting with pen and looking down under his gaze) that's how much Grewal's owe you.

Raghav: (raising an eyebrow) Are you sure, I don't want any mistakes.

Kalpi's POV: this guy is so infuriating... deva please give me strength for not killing him.

Kalpi: (annoyed) I checked twice,,,, if you still have doubts you can go through it.

Raghav stood up and walked behind her, she sat up straight. He leaned over, looking at the screen which had her calculations. Kalpi could feel his breath hit the back of her neck, every time he opened his mouth. She shivered, hoping he didn't notice. Raghav felt his effect on her but pretended not to notice he could smell her strawberry scent. She looked out the window to see how darkness has coated the sky.

Raghav: (moving away) I think we are done.

Kalpi: Finally...thank god!

She was moving towards door, when Raghav called her.

Raghav: where are you going?

Kalpi: Going home. (praying that he is not hungry as the last time they stayed together in the office)

Raghav: Do you own a car (sarcastically)

Kalpi: I'm going to take a taxi.

Raghav: (growls standing up) ... like hell you are. I'm taking you home.

Raghav grabs his coat.

Kalpi: (retorts) No need, I don't mind taking a taxi. It's no big deal.

She stopped rambling once Raghav gave her a dark look, daring not to object.

Raghav: I hate it the most when you don't listen to me.

Kalpi: (in anger now) that's your problem not mine, and nobody asked for your help here, I can take care of myself alright.

Raghav was burning with anger now, he threw everything he was holding aside and caged Kalpi to the wall. Kalpi was looking down. She knew this is one the moments when she was running short of words.

Raghav: look at me..

Kalpi didn't follow.

Raghav: (again) look at me Kalpi..

The mixed emotion of anger & hurt in his voice forced her to look into Raghav eyes. He was still caging her and suddently hit his hand on the wall...

Raghav: (raising his voice) A while ago you were so excited to go with that boyfriend of yours, now what happened?

Kalpi: you have lost your mind; he is a friend, and what if he is my boyfriend I don't need to give you any explanation about my personal life.

Raghav: Nobody Kalpi, nobody can talk back to me... and ohhh yes this is my matter of concern. I want my employees not to divert their minds from work because of random boyfriends, Isn't Sammy better?

Kalpi could not take this anymore... he had threw her off her limits now. In the process of trying to push him away she slapped him tight on the right cheek. Her shocked expression was clearly telling that it wasn't intentional. She wanted to say sorry but the very next moment, she decided to do otherwise.

Kalpi: (screaming) Aap kya bol rahe ho??? I can't believe you just said that. I told you he is a colleague and a friend. Aai Baba is out of town so I asked him to drop me home. But of course, you know nothing about friendship. Had you known that, you would have seen Sammy's pain. One more thinggg Pakhi might take your bossing around attitude but I'm not Pakhi, you can't control me! I don't understand, first you want to keep distance from me and when I was doing the same you dragged me into your office without my consent. Ab ye mt kehna Raghav ke aisa nahi hai. I know you very well, you were doing all this drama to avoid me but how can u include Pakhi into this. You didn't even think about your best friend. If you had problem with me you should have told me directly, instead, you decided to act like a complete idiot. hufff

Kalpi had spoken everything with pace and in a single breath. Raghav was dumbstruck.

Raghav: (still rubbing his cheek in shock) you slapped me??

Kalpi: well... all I can say is you deserved that for hurting your best friend. Now, I'm going home... so please lemme go.

Raghav: We are not done with this discussion, but right now I'm taking you home.

Raghav pulled up next to her chawl.

Kalpi: (as she takes her belongings) thank you.

She could not lift the Box as it was very heavy. Raghav got out the car to help her.

Raghav: (curiously) what's in this box?

Kalpi: some important things that I have stolen from the office (sarcastically)...come on... it has some old files I need to go through.

Raghav: (raising an eyebrow) itni sari????

Kalpi: It would give me more idea to handle some crisis situations.

Raghav: hmmm not bad/

Kalpi: haaa! who needs your approval.

She led him to the room and placed the box in the corner of the room. Raghav was looking around very curiously. He had come to chawl many times to meet Kamla maa but never entered the house. He saw the abacus; he had given her during childhood, kept on one of the shelves.

Kalpi: Chai or Coffee???

Raghav: (smilingly) anything...

This smile was not of his fake smiles or smirk but it was real. She went into kitchen and started making tea. A few minutes later she walked back into the room with tea in a tray.

Kalpi: Here is your tea.

Raghav didn't reply. She looked up ans saw him asleep. He looked so calm. It was very late so she laid him down across the couch. The couch was too small for his large frame; his legs fell of the edge.

Kalpi: (talking to herself) He looks adorable J...grrr Kalpi kya soch rahi hai tu... Sorry Mr Akdoo, you are too big and heavy for me to lift, so the couch will have to do.

She placed blanket on him after removing his coat and shoes. Suddenly, during sleep Raghav got hold of her wrist. The touch made Kalpi's whole body shiver. She had to try really hard to free her wrist, without waking him up. Finally she succeeded and heaved a sigh of relief.

Kalpi's POV: No matter how much angry I'm but I couldn't wake him up while sleeping. BTW he looks cute and relaxed while sleeping. Let the sleep consume you Kalpi and hope this man doesn't reappear in ur dream.

She went to her room and drifted off to sleep.

Next Morning

Kalpi woke up with a yawn, took a quick shower and was getting ready for office. She suddenly realised that she had completely forgotten about her guest. Just then her phone started ringing. It was Sammy.

Kalpi: Hi Sammy.

Sammy: (in worried tone) Kalpi do you know where Raghav is, he didn't come home last night. I have been trying to call him but his cell is switched off. I m really worried for him.

Kalpi: calm down Sammy, he is here with me only. I'll tell him to call you ok.

Sammy: ohhh thank god... btw wt is he doing at your place did u guys patch up (excitedly)

Kalpi: that I'll tell u latter. Bye!

Sammy: byee tk care of him (teasing)

Kalpi entered the room, Raghav was still sleeping.

Kalpi's POV: let him sleep Kalpi, sote hue hi shareef lagta hai ye! She made breakfast and was pouring coffee in mugs when Raghav's voice startled her. The coffee spilled on the counter.

Raghav: why didn't you wake me?????

She turned around, and blushed. Raghav had removed his shirt during the night. He was looking damn hot with well defined chest and abs. She turned her back towards him.

Kalpi: (muttering) Sorry!

Raghav's POV: Am I dreaming??? No, I'm not she is actually blushing (smiles to himself)... god she looks so cute and beautiful... control Raghav It's her house, and there is no way you want this cute little monster (Kalpi) to beat you up... arrrgh again I'm on square one...control your nerves!

Raghav walked over to the couch and began getting dressed. They ate breakfast in peace and Kalpi avoided any personal topic, the best she could.

Raghav: Breakfast is really good. I hardly get to eat home cooked food. Tell me something, did you actually break into Priya and Rony's accounts?

Kalpi gulped hearing that.

Kalpi: Sammy told you??/

Raghav: (smilingly) No, I overheard you talking to Grewals.

Kalpi: okkk.

Raghav: Thank you for helping me again... you handled everything really well.

Kalpi: You are welcome but you should thank Sammy too...

Raghav: hmmm, I still can't believe that you breached the cyber laws.

Kalpi: (grinning this time) but I hope you do believe that you are sitting here with your reputation intact and still own Singhania Empire.

Raghav could only chuckle hearing her words.

Kalpi: (hesitatingly) kuch poochun?

Raghav: (mocking an evil laugh) mana karunga to nahi poochogi??

Kalpi: (in mock anger) haha!! that wasn't funny at all ... but tell me how on the earth you fell for that... Priya?

Raghav: ummm... that's still a mystery, I thought she was an intelligent girl and when I realised that she is only interested in money and was cheating upon me... I broke up with her.

Kalpi felt bad for Raghav that moment. Raghav was looking around the room, he saw the abacus, he had given to her in childhood, kept on one of the shelves. A wave of warmth filled him. Kalpi was doing the dishes when she felt a hand over hers.

Kalpi: (raising eyebrows) what are you doing?

Raghav: helping you with dishes.

Kalpi: (amusingly) Are you for real Mr Raghav Singhania???

Raghav: (ordering) move away from the sink.

Kalpi: No ways, you are not my boss here, you are a guest. And I can do it myself.

Kalpi didn't move, so Raghav lifted her on his shoulder.

Kalpi: (screaming) put me down... mujhe neeche utariye Raghav...

But Raghav didn't budge. He carried her to the sofa

Kalpi: (struggling to get down) koi aa jayega Raghav mujhe neeche utariye (in little anger)

Raghav put her down on the couch.

Kalpi: In no way a boss should behave like this with his employee.

Raghav: (sheepishly) but you just said that I'm not your boss here!

Kalpi: (still screaming) youuu...

Raghav covered her mouth with his hand and looked into her eyes. Kalpi felt a sudden rise in the room temperature or if it was her body, she wasn't sure. Raghav could feel her lips trembling under his palm. Kalpi got lost deep into his eyes, she even stopped screaming. Her hairs were still wet from the shower and a few strands were now covering her face. Raghav broke the trance.

Raghav: (putting the lock of her hair behind her ears and whispered) if you don't want anybody to come then stop screaming (smirks)

Kalpi's face turned red like tomato. She was blushing. Raghav pulled his hand away to uncover her mouth. Kalpi was running out of the words to end this situation.

Raghav: (teasingly) you are blushing Kalpi..

Kalpi: (sweating) No...pe, I'm not (trying to get back into the game)! You have lost your mind!!!

Raghav: (acting innocent) but some people think I'm a "genius". They must be mad!

Kalpi gulped on her spit recalling her words to Priya. She was the one who called him genius. Raghav was enjoying her call me silly and I got caught kinda expressions.

Kalpi: (trying to handle the situation) No... not all of them! They might have had a momentary lapse in their judgement.

Raghav: (could not help but laugh) Then you are a freak!! (making the distance between them)

Kalpi: Well what can say, you seem to excel in bringing out the worst the worst in me (with sarcasm)

Raghav remembered that he had told the same words to her few days back.

Raghav: ohhh now you have decided to use my words against me??

Kalpi: (rolling her eyes) I take this liberty as you have once used my words against Prem (two types of rich people wala dialogue). We are even now.

Raghav: (surprisingly) who is keeping the count?

Kalpi: I'm!

Kalpi started doing another work.

Raghav's POV: what would I do with this girl, she makes me do things I'v never dreamed of doing. But I like her company...what??? watch your thoughts Raghav, how can you like being with her,,, she is a trouble!!

Kalpi: Sammy was really worried for you. I told him you are with me.

Raghav: Thnx... my cells battery died.

Kalpi's POV: I think I should tell him to talk to Sammy about Pakhi. Should I or should I not?

Raghav: I'll talk to Sammy.

Kalpi: h...o...w did you know wt I wanna say.

Raghav: (smirking) even I can read you like an open book now!

Raghav reached the door to leave but turned back to say bye.

Raghav: Ok see you later in office... and ... yeah I won't mind you bringing me lunch (giving his famous smirk)

Kalpi's POV: god!!! The nerve this man has. He is so demanding, dominating and strict but still he is a softy at heart. Softy????? Wts wrong with you Kalpi, you are defending him. Something is really wrong with you. Remember you are still angry with him for hurting you last night, he didn't even say sorry.

She was telling this to herself only to calm her nerves down.

Raghav's POV: Last night was so peaceful. It felt like home, she was so sweet to let me sleep at her place. I don't know how she figures it out every time I try to avoid her. Raghav be careful she knows now much about you. I really need to talk with Sammy as soon as I reach home...
