EHT not there in Tellychakkar list of best shows of 2014. Shocking but not really surprising, considering the names of the shows in that list.
I think I know the reason.
EHT portrays two extremely intelligent women engaged in a battle of wits, its abt a woman from modest background coming back to take revenge from an extremely powerful, dangerous and charismatic wealthy woman!
That is not acceptable according to the norms of Indian TV culture.
Women have to be weak, clinging, dependant, emotional, vulnerable, suffering abuse still loving her abuser, expected to accept injustices and wait for redemption, and so on.
Its the men who can engage in such "manly" endeavors as taking revenge, engaging in an intense battle of wits, and so on.
If EHT was a Bollywood movie it would have fared better and earned critical appreciation as well. Movie goers nowadays have become more conscious of good story, good acting and appreciate female oriented movies with strong female characters.
But Tellywood is still stuck in the doldrums. Thats why sickening regressive shows like Kumkum Bhagya, Sasural Simar Ka, Madhubala are in the list but EHT is not!
