I dont know whether it is Bhuvensh's acting or the character Dev in 2 epis yesterday both in FBs and the hospital as well as car scene the glimpse of character I got that of Dev was , he was insecure, not at all sure of himself and quite a diffident person. I mean someone who loves to remain in shadows and does not want limelight.
In the FB if you Nithya was bossing around in that relationship. I mean as a character there is a yearning in Dev for genuine appreciation. I feel he has never been appreciated. Rajnath just makes fake appreciations and Nithya too was fooling around him. I mean her bossy nature would have been to hide her real feelings towards him. I somehow felt yesterday she had more than platonic feelings for Dev and her loud and bossy attitude was to cover up those feelings. But in the process she never genuinely appreciated him. Maybe their relationship was like that. Half spoken, half unspoken with both hiding their true feelings.

He tries to be funny, but he feels he is not and that he is not is reflecting the way he presents himself. It was really funny when he asked Durga whether that tune is nice and he felt happy when she said it is really nice. I mean in talking to Durga all his unspoken feelings for Nithya is coming out.

I hope from that diary he gets some confidence as it would have the geniune appreciation Nithya felt for her friend.

One thing is sure this guy Dev def have the lonely child syndrome. He has the ability but then kuch tho missing hai

I think Nitya was bossy only to hide her feelings as you said.
I can't keep giving him leeway for just being an orphan.

There are often very obvious issues that he ignores or overlooks or notices but never acts on.

I think Suchitra has also kept him in a tight leash through emotional blackmail and pressure of living upto father's name and standards.

Other Goenkas obviously ignore him and don't even consider him family.

I don't know how he is okay with all this and why is he so spineless. He should be guiding his mother and giving her confidence than get bullied by her instead and back off.

unlike shaurya, Dev is not a flashy guy, he is quite and unassuming. though he belongs to a very rich family and of elite class, he was closer to his middle class friends. Gaurav, Nitya and Payal.
he didnt have Hi Fi rich firends like shaurya does.

his up bringing though in the same house as sharuya, he was not pampered by his parents, i dont know if the told how old he was when his father died. but Dev father was suppose to be the execte opposite of rajnath. Dev was given values by his parents, while shaurya parents just spoiled him rotton and covered up all his misdeeds.

Dev had no problem making friends with kids on lower classes. i guess loosing Nitya has made him unsure. not of his feelings but about whom to trust and now especially with the two life threatening attempts. he may be wary of his next move to investigate the truth behind the payal rape case

I understand his simple living but not his passive behaviour. He never noticed how Sakshi insults his mother and is rude to her? He never noticed what machinations were going on in house?
I want to know how old was he when Arnab died. That would be better to gauge him.

Despite threats from Shaurya he still doesn't doubt him. He ignores very obvious signs of Nitya-ness in Durga. I do not know what to make of him.

In Indian language Dev is a pure sanskari ladka. The guy every father would love to send their daughters with him. So usually the sanskari guys are always underestimated by loved ones. I hope along with his sanskar he becomes smart enough like Sakshi and Rajnath

Dev is sanskari for sure but he often lacks the basic observation and ability to take a stand that a normal man or human in general should possess.

Being observant and taking a stand doesn't mean one has less sanskaar.

i think they want to show that DEV is simple, naive,COOL guy who believes his friend or whom he assume his friend and Never used TIT FOR TAT Method ,he is straightforward & dont know HOW TO PLOT/TRAP SOME1 ..
But DEV is slowly coming out his shell and started to use his Brain LIKE he guess something is wrong in his house,some1 trying to stop him ...

May b he need a PUSH AND OFCOUSE SOME1 WHO CAN B HIS STRENGTH ...
May b as a Elder son and lonly child he has few FAULT ..

But somehow JUST HOPE DEV suspect DURGA ...

Sorry to say but WANT TO C DURGA AS Mrs. Durga Dev Goenka not with...

Dont think is logical to get married with a Culprit only to punish him ...Infact it'll b nice IF durga and Dev get married then he'll change and get some confidence which is badly needed AND durga can easily Use her power as Dev'll support her and TRIO WILL PLOT SOMETHING... OTHERWISE WHATS THE NEED OF DEV AND HIS MOM BCOZ THEY NEED SOME1 ..

Dev cannot put together 2 and 2 (shown once or twice...when sent away Gautam). He claims that he is on a mission but sees things what others show to him...seems both mum and son live in another world and visit the real world but with views applicable in their own world...today I was completely frustrated...seeing payal...still he was cool and calm, not even for once showed anger, helplessness...on such attitudes in such situations person is only considered insensitive. Let' see what he does with the diary...

@Abray that I agree with u. Dev is the perfect son in law material😃😃. They have created him like that. Usually they create girls as perfect DIL material. Here they have created opposite. No wonder Dayal is obsessed with him😃
But Dev as a person I felt is oscillating. Somewhere not able to take independent decision and action. His mother tells him he needs to stand up for what his father stood for. And I feel that guy exactly has those values for which Arnab stood for and maybe those values cost Arnab his life. Suchitra somewhere knows something about it and exactly because of that she is just pushing passive sanskaar on her son and not letting him free to follow his heart.
Dev has a lot of chains around him. The biggest one is his mother. If he takes 2 steps forward she will pull him 4 steps backward.
He has middle class friends and his values are too middle class. But then he is forced to lead a high class life as it's for sure when it comes to his middle class choices Suchitra would def call parivaar name. His love would have never been approved. It would have been shot down at the mention itself. Driver's daughter as DIL of Goenka mansion is unthinkable.
All this conflicts have made this guy so unsure of his choices and the chances he takes, as he has gone wrong many times.

Dev's mother is the biggest chain in his feet.
She didn't let him argue or question Rajnath at hospital. She keeps reminding him of so called duties as big brother and keeps asking him to forgive Shaurya, treat him like a child etc.

Dev had once told Rajnath that he wasn't interested in joining Goenka Industries. It had taken a lot of coaxing on Rajnath's part to include him in cancer research project.

I wonder why he wants to avoid Goenka tag and lifestyle? Or was he conditioned this way?

I don't rate him as perfect SIL material because a man has to be protector also. This is where Dev is weak. He cannot sense danger in advance. He cannot shield his family. He was reckless even when he went all alone to find out Shaurya (no guards, police or bulletproof jacket). He cannot stop others from bullying him and his family.
Packing off friends to other places after nearly escaping death or trying for justice years later doesn't mean much. He is poor with personal safety also.

Dayal must be thinking Dev and Durga can be packed off to the US and live happily ever after, which, I don't think is a plausible idea. If he thinks other Goenkas can't come to US or trouble them then he is living in fool's paradise.
