Has anybody followed news?
In Lucknow a woman was gangraped and killed. In Varanasi a woman's naked corpse was found on roadside. In Bangalore a 6 year old girl was raped at school by school staff in broad daylight. In Meerut, 8 boys raped a girl, recorded a video of this act and uploaded it on Facebook.
EHT had potential to raise awareness on such crimes and give a strong message. It did start off well by showing corruption of witnesses and police.
In beginning it had powerful dialogues on society, women's status, crime. Remember the "beti, beti hoti hai" dialogue in episode when Durga took down the commissioner?
What now? Glorification of crime. Goenkas keep doing anything but are never discovered or caught. No points made on laws or corruption in investigation and trials. Just "extra judicial" ways of revenge from Durga to burn bums of Goenkas and side tracking for romance/saas bahu drama (bitchy scenes of Sakshi towards Durga).
Just masala going on with drama within Goenka house and drama with Durga.
Durga could have started a movement and got Payal rape case reopened and re-tried the way a group organised protests, petitions and got Priyadarshini Mattoo case reopened, tried and new verdict in 2006.
So much money and power only to resort to illegal means herself.
Simply spying on Goenkas and gossiping about them. No more takedowns.
Ganguly is the only one who was truly exposed. Mathur's role in covering up crimes of Goenkas was never exposed. Commissioner's corruption in Payal case was never exposed. His daughter was hurt and that's about it.
Initial mission for justice etc seems like a pretense now.
They focus so much on dirty behaviour of Goenkas that it looks amusing to viewers now than disgusting. The way people get amused by Shaurya, Rajnath or Raima or Sakshi or even became their fans it proves show glorified villains.😕
They often dedicate whole episode to Shaurya's perverse fantasies of rape and murder. Voyeurism much?😲
Durga flirts with two men. Parties, disco with one, drives, night in rain with other. It is for revenge but is it right? Has she ever thought what will she be perceived as by ordinary people who do not know her?
They say it is inspired by Khoon bhari maang. That film at least tries to justify the heroine (she is a model and celeb so naturally has men after her and one of them is a guy who gave her work). The woman in that film does everything herself and is not even feeding off another man the way Durga is living off Dayal, his money and influence.
No more flashbacks of parents or sister. No more scenes with sister. All obsession with must spying on enemy or old friend.
They have been showing blatant misuse of cameras and mobiles. And till now only glorified it. No one has paid for it.
Right now we have nothing except HOPE that show will make everyone pay for crimes, or Durga will stay focused, one day the lame selfies will bring down Shaurya, CCTV footage of Rajnath-Raima will be out etc.
The show is only relying excessively on sex and violence and mockery of law and system. Of late the message has vanished. For Durga to be justified it is necessary to show past with parents and sister and her passion to avenge brutality meted out to them. But that is nowhere since some premi is more important.
Dayal also surprises me. He was okay and rather laughing when Durga tampered with photo of real Durga? Not a flinch of emotion for tampering with and use of childhood photo of his only child who is now dead? So casual with memories of real Durga. His past crying looks fake now.
Message or justice are not happening now. Just games and excessive detailing of cheapness of Goenkas (one actor is even flaunting those scenes on social media!). And what are Goenkas BTW? They are so big that they will "use" CBI also to trap and scare Shaurya? To be honest they did not even do much to show Goenkas influential. Only threats are not enough. Mingling with politicians and dignatories would have made better sense than threatening others and bragging about being a Goenka. Can they not show fake ministers? Better than gossip at home and parties.
Earlier we expected mystery and surprise in everything. Now episodes often do not move ahead and MAIN thing is that viewer predictions come true. We never got anything which we had not thought of. The team never controls spoilers either. All episodes are out in blogs a week before! Makers of a suspense drama should control leak of spoilers at least.😕
I am not being negative. I only feel emotional and ideological connect waning in the show.
And I have seen my parents react. No one likes excessive detail of misdeeds of Goenkas (especially sexcapdes and violent acts of Shaurya).😕
This was a show with lot of potential but seems to be losing focus. Even the wide canvas with which it started is becoming small a petty quarrels are shown at home. I hope they don't ruin it for TRP aunties.
Sorry if it sounded like a rant. Watched news. Recalled old episodes of EHT and couldn't resist but comment.😕
