exactly! This is not possible. In fact, even i belong to the medical department and doctors here don't have that much time to give even a slight analysis of his patient to anyone else no matter whatever the reason may be. If really needed, then that fellow needs to go to hospital, get an appointment, meet the doctor nd then if the doc feels it considerable then he or she will give so. If its such a process here in India then let alone abroad. Secracy is more important there. Such talks never happen on phone calls. Utter non sense it was.

Marriage alliance now a days needs few medical tests and if that doctor has given such a sure shot statement about Durga he must be sure that the doctor knows DAYAL and DURGA well... i guess that scene is justified..as its doctors duty to reveal professional secrecy in such cases

The medical tests for marriages or may be professional reasons is always justifiable but here the point is how can anyone just call a doctor to get some information about any patient ? It is against the law and ethics of not only medical profession but any other profession. Let say some cell phone company gives away my details to some unknown person for they needed some info for marriage alliance the next thing I will do is sue them for this act of negligence

As for the university is concerned, an employer can ask for a character certificate to be issued by the university and also attest the marksheet and degree of the employee but the employer holds no right to just make a random call and get all the details in a jiffy.
