Finally an update!!! *phew* 🥱
Okay, how long has it been?? I remember the last update was on valentine's day so..roughly 3 months.😛
Definitely this one is longer than my standards as a compensation for the delay. For the people who enquired about the update either on the thread or PM, sorry couldn't post this any earlier, was caught up in stuff.

Chapter 9
"She knew me way too well to be unsure of the answer." Shravan exclaimed.
"Of course, she would have. A lifetime off knowing each other gets you familiar with evens and odds of a person."
...flashback {continued}
"Tum mujhe itne acche se kyun jaanti ho Sumo?" masking his disappointment.
Sumo considered it better not to respond and to be the victim of his outburst so she just shrugged.
"Tumne aisa kyun bola Sumo?" he spoke with a ready to breakdown as he hung his head low.
"Shravan no going emotional, main bas dar gayi thi and shockingly iss baat se nahin ki main almost mar gayi thi but ki agar mujhe kuch hua to tum kya karoge mere cutie pie!!" Sumo pulled his cheek as she smiled feebly.
"Accha toh iska kya matlab hai, tum kuch bhi bologi." He raised his hand for a promise. "Promise karo ki tum aisa kuch kabhi bhi nahi bologi." He asked for a promise but continued before she could respond. "Sumo you mean a world to me agar tumhe kuch hua to main nahin jee paunga." He said holding her hand and in a bit louder tone. As soon as Sumo heard what he said she looked at him taken aback. He lowered his eyes and tried not to look at her but she held his chin with her index finger. "Aur Sumo bhi sirf Shravan ke saath hi rahegi, baaki sab ke liye main sirf Suman hu. Samajh aayi mere Shravan baba. Aur I promise main kabhi kuch aisa nahin kahungi. Pakka wala promise." She placed a butterfly kiss on his palm.

"Accha cholo yeh lever uppar karo, mujhe khade hona hai." Sumo said trying to lighten up the atmosphere.
"Sumo pata hai doctor ne kaha tha ki shaayad sir par bhi chot lagi hai, ab confirm bhi ho gaya." He spoke in a death calm voice. "Paagal ho kya tum, mujhe khadha hona hai" he spoke sarcastically.
Just a few minutes of road safety instructions and the doctor came in to Sumo's rescue.
"Toh I see daant padh rahi thi." The doctor said and chuckled. The doctor shook his head at the two as Sumo nodded sheepishly making Shravan glare at her. "You deserve it Ms. Lawyer, road safety ka dhyaan rakhna nahi aata. Kitna tang kar diya apni maa ko aur apne boyfriend ko." The doctor said eying Shravan. Sumo had her mouth in the perfect formation of an 0', she wondered as to why was Shravan not correcting his mistake but he just stared at him with a blank expression, no shock, no wonder, no being bombshell.
The doctor told her to hold the pen in her right palm to check the strength of her fractured wrist, she could hold it well for a few second and then the pen came slashing down on the floor, Sumo panicked and inhaled a sharp breath. Shravan stood up as a reflex and he kept his hand over her hair.
"Sumo calm down, koi baat nhin, ho jaega." He comforted her and as a result she exhaled softly.
"Hmm, bilkul sahi. It's too early, abhi aaram karo, thodhi der man reports mil jaengi." The doctor said and went out of the room.
Sumo shut her eyes and two big round tears streamed down her cheek.
"Sumo kya hua tum ro kyun rahi hu?" he asked concerned.
"Shravan main ek pen bhi theek se nahin utha paa rahi main koi kaam khaakh karungi."she appeared solemn.
Shravan sighed in adverse fate, did she expect herself to be running and jumping around after the dreadful accident.
"Matlab tumhe kaunsa duniya ko conquer karna hai ek din ke time main, jo itni si baat ke liye ro rahi ho, accident ke baad svbhaav parivartan ho gaya tumhaara, matlab superman banna hai tumne, gadhi , lekin actually Sumo tum mujhe batao tumhe kya laga tha ki ek din main dodhne lagana hai tumne ?"
"Lekin Shrav__"she tried to object.
"Kuch lekin-wekin nahi give yourself sometime aur superman ki comics se bahar niklo, itne dreadful accident ke baad koi do second main khada nhin ho jaata."he angered at her insensibility. "Sumo you can be so unfeasible at times." He softened as he wiped her tears with the pad of his thumb.
"Ok fine no more stretching on this topic, pakka wala promise." She beamed.

"And then arrived those 23 days when Sumo was in the hospital. Both of us especially Sumo had a lot of cases lined up, that means a lot of work for the people working under us, the people who I remember to help us the most were Iman and Ridhima. They were sweethearts." He smiled as he remembered how the willful employees worked overnight and even went to the courts representing them as their junior council.
"Good employees are a hearty benison." She sighed dramatically.
VO...
"Shravan you know I hate kiwis." She made a face when she saw Shravan approaching towards her with a plate full of sliced kiwis, the fruit she despised with all her being. Who even discovered that god forsake of a fruit?' she thought. She inched backwards supporting herself on the plastered right hand of hers. Shravan smirked as he placed the kiwi slice to her mouth. She so wanted to wipe out that smirk on his face.
Sumo glared at him with a puppy face as well as with angry eyes. She herself didn't know how she managed that expression of hers.
"Sumoo" he said coaxing her to open her mouth and she in turn curved her lips inwards signifying her disinterest as well as semi nodding.
"Stop bossing around, you seem to be doing that a lot in the past 23 days." She scoffed at him.
"Thanks poor lady, but you've bossed around me almost entire my life, let me do that till you're here." He said lowering his tone in the last bit.
"What do you mean by until I'm here?" she gave him a quizzed look. "Where am I being transported? Tehaar jail?"
He looked taken aback. "What do you mean by where am I going? Didn't Priya aunty tell you that she was taking you to Delhi, for the time being?"
"No, I'm not aware of any such thing and tell her straight that I'm not going anywhere." She said in offence.
"And she's telling you to straightaway accompany her to Delhi else wait for her outburst." He replied holding another piece of the fruit to her mouth.
"Main na kahin nahi jaa rahi. Waise bhi itna saara kaam miss ho gaya hai, ab discharge hote hi sabse pehle maine office jaana hai." She said as she eyes the fruit with disgust.
"Aur tu toh jhaansi ki rani hai jo teri maa tera saara kaha maan jayegi aur tujhe kaam par jaane degi." Priya intervened whilst folding her hands on her chest. She had been watching the two closely since sometime now and they both looked so much like a well married and love-struck couple. She had a gleeful smile splayed across her lips. "Tu mere saath ghar chal rahi hai discharge milte hi." She said with a voice declaring finality as she walked towards both of them.
"Maa main sach keh rahi hu, mere pe na runaway patient ka sequel ban jaana hai agar aapne mujhe force kiya Delhi jaane ke liye, maine nahi aana." Sumo whined and Shravan smiled at her playfulness.
"Maine na tere ek kheech ke lagana hai. Maine nahi jaana, kyun nahi jaana?" Priya scolded.
"Maa, lawyer hu physical assault ka case kar dena hai maine aap par." Sumo laughed.
Priya shook her head at his daughter and then turned to look at Shravan. "Kar diyo, main bhi bata deti hu, mera defense lawyer Shravan. Bolo Shravan ladhoge meri side se?"
Shravan shook his head at the 2 women whose eyes seemed to be fixed on him. "Are aunty yeh bhi koi puchne waali baat hai? Zaroor ladhunga main aapki side se." he replied whilst looking at Sumo who fake glared at him.
"Begerat insaan, kabhi to meri side le liya karo." Sumo narrowed her eyes at him as he mouthed drama queen'.
"Am I missin' on something?" Pushkar said as he peeked opened the door.
The three laughed looking at him. "Yahaan puri ramayan khatam ho gayi, tu puch raha hai, moral mila ki nahi."
The next day Sumo was so excited that she was going to be discharged but the cards didn't play on her accord and she got to know she had an abnormal amount of weight loss during her stay in the hospital and the doctors decided to keep her for a week more, much against her whining.
When the doctors announced that she wasn't being allowed to move out of the hospital for at least a week she threw all the fits she could. She thumped her back as she ruefully whined and that disturbed her spinal cord which was not in a very pleasant state which caused her to flinch and let a scream of pain. Everyone was outside the room except Shravan who had his head rested against the headboard of the sofa. As he heard her wince he scurried away to be by her side of the bed and she gave him a displeased look indicating her displeasure towards him because he woke up in spite of her scolding as he hadn't closed his eyes in the past 2 days let alone sleeping. His routine seem to revolve around her and the office, of course being the wonderful lawyer he is, he cannot enjoy freedom for mere day let alone a month. "Chain nahi hai na tumhe. Zaruri hai kya yeh do-do minute main uth kadhe hona?" Sumo scolded trying to mask her pain.
Shravan shook his head and said, "Sumo tum paagal ho." Not-a-question tone. He pushed the lever down as he supported her back which seemed to have hidden in the giant of his palm. He laid her down bending along with her. Their faces were not even an inch apart. Her back touched he bed but still he didn't remove his hand from under her nor did she made any move, they just stared into each other's eyes with something not so friend like. Before they both could understand their faces started tilting as if on an instinct of their own. Sumo shut her eyes in anticipation.

Just when their lips were a centimeter apart the scoundrel barged inside the room. Pushkar disturbed the two and as soon as they got knocked off their trance, Shravan jumped upwards and Sumo looked away to the other side. Pushkar smirked and he pretended to keep his palm on his eyes to block the view. "Continue you two. I'm going out." He said making Sumo's blush even more prominent and Shravan to look even more embarrassed than he already was as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Pushkar jaisa tu samajh raha hai vaisa kuch nahi hai." Shravan defended the 2 of them while he struggled to find a reason why was he in such an intimate and questionable for friends situation with Sumo.
Pushkar grinned ear-to-ear as he replied, "Nahi nahi bhaiya, mujhe jo samajhna tha maine samajh liya, aapko explaination dene ki zaroorat nahin hai." He said cheekily.
Shravan gave a swift glance towards Sumo who perfectly resembled a tomato and then ran after Pushkar saying, "Teri toh Pushkar, bohot bolta hai tu aajkal." And then he stared chasing him around the room, making Sumo laugh. These two were perfect entertainers!!
Flashback ends...
"And that was the first time I let my emotions flow through me." He said with a smile but a unfading sadness still prolonged in his eyes.
"That was very much needed between the two of you..." she paused. "By the looks, you two were too good at masking your love for each other but why couldn't the other one guess?"
"A question we could never find an answer to." He said with a tight smile.
