Hello Friends,
This is my attempt to write an FF on Shraman although apart from the characters in the family, nothing much will be in common. Here they are not lawyers but entrepreneurs who come together because of their families but along the way they fall in love. Its a story of Shraman's friendship, mistrust, passion, love and pain.

Below is the first chapter of this story:

Chap 1: Life in Kasauli
Chap 2: Growing Up- Page 2

Chap-1 Life in Kasauli
Suman had fallen in love with this quaint place called Kasauli with its beautiful slopes, long slender pine forests, winding roads and the green gypsies crossing the roads at random in and out of the cantonment area. She lived in the outskirts of Kasauli as her small workshop was near Sanawar village and it was a few kilometers drive from her home. Away from the metro city life this place with the lack of so called modern amenities gave her the required calm and peace that she had come seeking here. It has been over 3yrs now that she had left everything and come here. No, she had not run away from life after all she was her Nanu's beloved who had taught her to fight and never give up. She had come away to get some semblance in her life which was in tatters now with the wedges drawn by betrayal, nepotism and sheer wickedness. She had come here broken but with Aditya's help she had managed to build her life again together and now she taught so many women like her to fight for themselves and their self-respect. Her little workshop taught such women who had no one, to build a life for themselves by learning local crafts and then converting them to wonderful commercially viable masterpieces which Suman managed to find markets to sell them into. Aditya had helped her in every way to find the right place to setup her workshop, to get the right people to help her, right contacts to market her product and today she can boast of having 50 all women strong workforce. She had managed to build some quarters around the workshop where these women stayed and called it their home. Suman had toiled hard and immersed herself in work to get where she was today but her conscience sometimes told her a different story which she managed to suppress always but today after so long the voice reared its ugly head. It was all evident but probably Suman was so lost in her own world that she never realized that Aditya was getting attracted to her till he proposed to her a few hours ago when they had met at their favorite caf for breakfast in the morning.
She did not know why she should not say a yes to some guy like Aditya, he was handsome, good looking, self made man, had the riches that a girl desires, a well established business empire behind him but she just could not say yes. Seeing her fidgeting with the sugar sachet and looking everywhere but at him , he had realized and told her the first thing that came to his mind when Suman had tried to tell him how good he was and how any girl would fall for him "Any girl but not Suman Tiwari , right?".Suman knew at that instant that she had broken his heart, she could see it in his ashen face but he had been on his side like a pillar of strength and she would never lie to him. She owed if not anything but truthfulness to him and she had tried to sugar coat the truth but Aditya knew her well enough to see through it and he had thrown the subconscious message on her face "You have never fallen out of love with Shravan, right. You have never moved on in your heart". Suman had then decided to pour her heart out and told Aditya that she did not know how to fall out of love with the person whose home she had called her own , whom she had woken up next to, whose unsaid words she understood, whose eyes she thought she could read and to top it all she loved. He might not have reciprocated but she had loved him with her whole being and after all love has no condition that the person you love should love you back. It would be ideal to be loved back but Suman knew nothing in this world was ideal and she had learnt it the hard way. Suman could not concentrate on her work and she had driven her small car to a quiet turn on the way to Manki point and sat down on the slope sipping a cup of warm tea which she bought from the roadside tea stall .The small boy at the tea stall had seen her and given a wide broken toothy smile , as she was his favorite didi. Suman had met Kushar by chance at the stall and fallen in love with his innocence. The little boy was an orphan and the tea stall owner had found him hungry and dying near a roadside and brought him home. He had shelter and food now but he did not go to school like other kids of his age so Suman had convinced the tea stall owner to send him to school and she had agreed to fund his education. Kushar was like a stress buster for Suman after a tired day, his chatter, his innocent talks always made her relax after a hectic day. Today even Kushar was unable to work his charm as Suman was lost in the whirlwind of emotional turmoil. She was lost in her own thoughts when Kushar had quietly walked behind her and put his small palm on Suman's shoulders shaking her out of reverie. He had asked "Didi ap thik ho na..main kuch madad karoon, ek cup chai aur chahiye". Suman had given a bleak smile at his concern and had run her fingers through his disheveled hair and said "main thik hoon..zara thak gayee hoon". On hearing this the little boy had said "Didi ghar jao..shayad baarish hone wali hain.iske baad raasta dikhega nahin" and Suman had realized that he was right as she could see the dark clouds rising and slowly covering the mountains and reluctantly she had plopped herself into the car and driven away into the safe confines of her little cottage pretty sure that its going to be a long day for her.

Chap-2 Growing Up
Suman sat in rocking chair in the balcony of her small house watching the rain splashing down on the well kept lawn of her small garden and her small plants. She had always loved gardening even as a kid when she along with her mother Priya Tiwari used to tend to their huge garden infront of their house. She had been a child which every parent would want being the best in whatever she did, she was good at studies and very good at athletics too and she was an obedient child of her parents. She was different from the children of her age, she understood her responsibilities as the only child of her parents. Her mother was a very beautiful woman and ran a gifts gallery in one of the city centers in Indore. She had probably got her business skills from her mother because her father was never a successful businessman and whatever he invested on or whatever new venture he used to start would run into trouble. Her father Rishab Singh would always dream of making big and whole lot of money very quickly and as a result he would try his hands on everything right from restaurants to magnets but probably he lacked focus, and commitment which resulted in failures is what Suman thought. He would initially work hard and the venture would start picking up but soon he would get bored and start spending time with friends and would leave the business to be handled by his partners or subordinates who would take advantage of the situation and soon start cheating him resulting in losses. The one who would bear the brunt of this onslaught of failing ventures would be her mother Priya. Suman's father would demand that Priya would fill in for his losses and this would lead to fights and sometimes would result in physical abuse as well. Priya's shop used to run fairly well but filling in for her husband's failures would run down her incomes and they used to struggle for the upkeep of Suman's education, maintenance of their house, etc. Priya was not only having a hard time at home but also at her shop where the lenders from whom her husband would lend money would pursue her in the shop, threaten her and would pass her leud remarks and Suman saw through all of this as a growing child which led her to see life in a different angle and it had instilled in her a resolve to take up responsibility of her mother as soon as she could.
Although her mother fought tooth and nail for her self-respect, her independence, her child and against her husband's lousiness she never let a word out to her maternal home but Priya's family did not stay very far so the news had to go to Suman's Nanu. He tried his level best to make Suman's father understand and tried to help him too but Rishab's ego would be hurt and he would take it out all on Priya by thrashing her badly. The neighbours and the people around would know about their fights and the lecherous males would lineup in Priya's shop to sympathize with her. Suman had seen how her mother struggled through all this but still managed to maintain her dignity and she was a mirror image of her. She was not only gifted with her mother's beauty and brains but was also strong and confident like her. In this the man who was hurt most was her Nanu as he never could forgive himself for marrying his daughter to Rishab and he would sometimes go to the extent of asking Priya to leave him and come home with Suman and start a new life. Everytime Priya would tell him that she would think about it but she never would and continue to stay with Rishab with the hope that one day he will change but it would get worser. One day just before Diwali Rishab had come back very elated as he had received a big order for his new garments supply business and he had invited the client home to have dinner with the family. Priya was extremely annoyed hearing this because she never liked work being brought home but with much reluctance she had agreed as she had seen Rishab very happy in a very long time. Priya had her sixth sense on as soon as the man entered her home as she could see his eyes continuously undressing her and even looked at her growing daughter with filthy eyes. As soon as dinner was over the middle aged client tried to get cosy with Priya and she pushed him away and tried complaining to Rishab but he did not react. Priya and Suman would never know whether Rishab did it on purpose or was unable to figure out what was happening under the influence of alcohol. Seeing her husband not protecting her Priya had taken things to her hands and thrown the pot bellied man out of their house as he kept shouting that he would ensure Rishab and his family was destroyed. Priya was so angry that she had packed her bags with whatever she found her hands on and marched out with 12 yr old Suman and walked out of the house into her car and driven towards her maternal home. Rishab had followed behind them in his bike as he tried to stop Priya but fate had taken a completely different turn. A speeding lorry had hit Priya's car and rammed Rishab's bike too. Suman had felt a strong jerk which had thrown her from the seat and soon it was darkness everywhere. When she had woken up her parents had left her alone in this world. Her Nanu had brought dazed Suman home to TiwariQilla and had also changed her identity. He had come to know of what Rishab's client had tried to do with Priya and the entire story and he had been extremely infuriated and decided to throw away Rishab from Suma's life completely. He had renamed Suman Singh to Suman Tiwari tearing the last stamp of what Suman had of her father.
The rain outside had picked up pace and slowly the light was fading away and Suman decided to step inside as it was getting quite chilly outside. Sugama had already put up some veg soupy broth on the boil and she could see the soup bubbling away. Sugama had been a lonely woman who had lost her family in the floods and Suman had taken an instant liking for this middle aged woman when she had met her first time and she had been a perfect company for Suman. She was an excellent cook and had taken care of Suman and the small cottage like her own. She had an uncanny ability to figure out when Suman wanted some space and need to be left alone like today and when she was in a mood for chatter and she would entertain her with her village folklore, funny stories, etc. She knew the woman infront of her hid a lot of pain in her heart and she could see sometimes her eyes tearing up for nothing but she knew that her revered Madam will not say a word now and she has to wait till she lets her into her world. She loved Suman and prayed every day to take away her pain and make her meet her loved ones , wherever they were. Sugama walked in silently with the veg soup in a small bowl and placed infront of Suman in a small table and was about to walk away when Suman had held her hand and indicated her to sit. Sugama took her soup bowl and sat next to Suman on a small chair as she heard Suman talk about enjoying rains in her place Indore. Sugama had never heard of the name but she thought it must have been quite far from this quaint village but she thanked God that finally Suman was opening up and probably one day she will be able to help her come out of all the pain and hurt and enjoy life again like every young woman should. This was the first time ever she had heard Suman talk about her life before Kasauli.
