I think Suman is being portrayed very realistically *ducks tomatoes*.
I mean I completely agree with you on how terrible it is to lead someone like Aditya on. And definitely if you have stronger feelings for someone else its not really fair to marry another person out of majboori (at least without being honest with the other person first). I could write a thesis on this topic about how wrong it is.
But in the context of this story, I don't think Suman is consciously trying to lead Aditya on or lacking in empathy for him. I just think she's in a really really tough spot. If I put myself in her place, I honestly wouldn't know what to do. Firstly this is all happening very quickly. It probably hasn't even been a day since Nanaji all but forced Suman to say yes. This is also right after Shravan broke off the friendship.
Nanaji's health seems very contingent upon knowing that Suman would be settled. So if she tells Adi the truth and he breaks off the relationship right away and Nanji suffers a setback.. that wouldn't be good. And its definitely not going be an easy thing to approach with Aditya. I don't think she wants to hurt him. The way I saw it there were a few moments where she was going to tell him the truth but they got interrupted.
I also think she's not sure what she should say to him. What if she tells the truth to Adi and he wants to accept her anyways? The culture she lives in is one of arranged marriage and Aditya is a decent match. Given that Shravan has broken things off, does she think there is a realistic chance with Shravan? Should she think there is a realistic chance with Shravan, especially with Ramnath against them? Shravan may have said those things in anger but does Suman know that she has the power to bring him back?
With Nanaji's health on her mind, its gotta cross her mind whether she really should be saying 'no' to Aditya. With everything going on and her pain too.. I don't think it would be unreasonable for her to 'consider' moving on... obviously that's not going to happen.
There are so many factors for her to consider that I'd still be trying to come to grips with it myself.
Personally, I loved this last episode. I absolutely loved that Suman's first thought was Shravan's pain. That to me is love. I think we all seen this type of story play out in other shows but I think they are doing a better job than most.
