OMG YAAAYYY!
This update was so great, I had such a huge grin on my face reading this entire thing :D
Okay, first of all, I love how you brought in Shravan helping Suman with her business without asking her and her not being okay with it. But instead of him blaming it on her "ego", they've managed to address the real issue - which is her not wanting to rely on him if he won't be there for her forever. I think that's such an integral part of EKDV - I really think that part of Suman's unwillingness to accept help from others is because everyone she loves always ends up leaving her; it's something that has left the same long-lasting effect as Shravan's experience with the women in his life. Of course here, she still has her mother, but I can definitely see her being reluctant to depend on him - that coupled with her independence - l LOVE how subtly EDKV addresses feminism...okay, anyway, I'm going off on a tangent, let's get back to this chapter.
And then the way you brought back the closet and kitchen scenes was awesome, I just kept picturing the actual scenes from the show. And I love the way you brought their mothers in on the whole thing. Especially because if Nirmala had not left and was a proper mother, she'd be able to key in on her son's feelings. Also, is it bad that when she said "you could wear anything and Suman would love it regardless", my mind went to "you could wear nothing and Suman would love it regardless"? - It's true, though! 😆
I love the way you've written this short story - in an alternate universe, where Nirmala hadn't left, Priya was still alive, Suman hadn't hurt Shravan and Shravan hadn't left because of it and their relationships progressed in a natural healthy way, I can totally see this happening. And because of that, there's far less of a chance for misunderstandings to take root and when Shravan asks Suman for his "fees" here...he won't be asking her for friendship.
Can't wait for the next chapter! <3 Hope you continue soon :D
