Part 4

Suman came to Shravan house, it looked nice from the outside and quite modern. She rang the bell only to see a housekeeper (Ramu kaka) at the door.He was a short with a tan skin color looking in his forties with a soft smile .He took the tray of brownies that she made for the party. She walked in scanning her eyes around his house , it was a beautiful house inside as well , dark brown stairs going up when you enter ,a nice living area with a large dining area by the side. The kitchen was behind the big sliding doors. It was a big house but only him living in it alone? The housekeeper told her that he was keen on having his own space rather than living with his whole family. He was throwing a warm House Party for only his friends since most of his family members were out of town.

Shravan came down wearing his black t -shirt and denims jeans , he saw her wearing her bleu kurti with matching pants .

"Where's your uniform?"

"I thought I would wear comfortable clothes for the preparations and when its evening I will change .I came prepared" She showed him her bag with a gleaming smile

"Why are you smiling?"

"I always smile and its nowhere written in the contract that I can't smile "

Shravan kept his serious expression Smile as much as you want because tonight that smile will soon vanish .Suman starting making room in the living area moving the table on the side rearranging the chair

" I think it will make more space and we can put the food on this table" Shravan agreed and helped her.

"The food will come by 8:30 pm make sure its served before it gets cold"

Suman nodded as she put a cover a table cloth over the table and arranged the plates and cups in the trays. Shravan left, she seemed to know what she was doing. She started cleaning the clutter in the hallway which were stacked with empty boxes. She made her way on the kitchen making sure there was room in the fridge for desserts and drinks.

Shravan came in seeing her putting the drink away in the fridge. His eyes fell on the counter "Who made these?" He pointed at the brownies

"I made them for your party for dessert" She said with a sweet smile

"I don't want any of your dessert at my party"

"Are you scared that they won't taste good?" She chuckled amused "Trust me Im not a bad cook, im sure everyone will love them! Here try one"She offered

Shravan didn't know why she was acting at ease with him

"I don't want to taste anything made from you is that understood? Now get these brownies out my face!"He ordered rudely

"Are you always this rude?"

"Only with people I detest" He answered curtly

"I said I was Ss.."he just walked out on her "Sorry .."She finished her sentence exasperating, no matter how hard she tried to approach him he didn't seem to want to forgive her .

It was almost 6pm Suman climbed the stairs going in one of the rooms to change. She was facing the door while buttoning her shirt from the bottom. Just then Shravan walked in their eyes met for a second before he looked away awkwardly .She quickly turned around fastening her top buttons.She felt her cheeks turning crimson pink .

"sorry I didn't know you were in here"

"its my fault I should have locked the door .." she was facing the wall with her eyes shut feeling embarrassed

They both felt the uneasiness in the room ,Shravan controlled his thoughts tough he had to admit she looked very attractive in her uniform with her chemise fitting her slim figure perfectly .His expressions changed grimly as his past resurfaced. She was the same girl who caused you humiliation!He finally spoke walking to his closet taking out his clothes "Next time change in the Bathroom not in my room! Strangers are not allowed in here!"He warned

This awkward moment brushed off as soon as his rude attitude returned. She looked at him while tying her hair in a lose bun annoyed. "Im not that much of a stranger" she mumbled they knew each other from school

"What did you say .."

"nothing"She gave him a smirk before heading out

The guest started coming in and Suman was at the Door collecting any coats and hanging them. She was happy to see some old friends who were part of her gang but they didn't seem to give her any importance. It's been years that she hasn't kept contact with many of them, they all moved on in their lives. They seemed to pity her seeing her as a waitress. Some of Shravan important clients also came in greeting hem greeted by her warm smile. They thanked her for taking their coats and praised her in front of Shravan who in return gave out a fake smile

Rahul walked in ,he one of the boys Suman had a crush on him in high school " Hi Suman right ?"

She nodded taking his coat

" Are you working here ?"

"yes she is , she's the waitress of the evening " Shravan came greeting him

Rahul chuckled "Are you serious Sumo a waitress? Wow I didn't expect this "he looked down at her

"Well she's the same girl who had a crush on you in high school"Shravan pointed out

"No way!"

Suman was feeling very uneasy but didn't stay quiet "ya that was high school crush ,I have definitely moved on and definitely have better judgement of boys I meet" Suman said firmly giving Shravan a cold look knowing exactly what he was trying to do .

"Forget her come and have something to drink" he guided Rahul in signal Sumo to hang the coat . Suman didn't know why but started to feel embarrassed; She then heard Ramu kaka calling her "I'll be right there "

Shravan could clearly see her disturbed expression and smirked.

Suman was passing the drinks hearing some girl were drooling over Shravan's transformation stating how handsome, rich and successful he became..Suman rolled her eyes and very rude she thought

she heard Nisha talking with pooja "it's so ironic sumo became a waitress at Shravan's house party , I mean she used to keep teasing him at school and look now she's working for him" the girls laughed as Suman offered them drinks . They refused continuing there chatter, "it's crazy how time changes I mean she used to be popular at school but now looks like all her school friends left her .

"And look at Shravan he became a accomplished Lawyer , the girls are crazy about him.I mean he has it all and Suman is working as a waitress in his house ,I'm feeling so bad for her " pooja said with a glance toward Suman

Shravan ears were wide open and smirked watching Suman expression sink, she didn't expect the whole party will be about her ! It seemed as if she was the topic of the evening. She went in the kitchen taking out the appetizers and setting them on the table .

"I want you to serve them" Shravan ordered .She took a deep sigh controlling her frustration ,she was being bossed by him the whole time .She went around keeping a smile on her face but he could clearly see her uneasiness and was rejoicing within a sweet revenge smile lingering on his face.

Everyone was having a good time talking, eating enjoying the music

Suman was distributing the appetizers when she heard Anjali and Purna talking " I feel sad for her .During last year of high school her parents got a divorce After that day she never saw her dad again. She failed most of her classes during our last year because of her family issue. "

"During our whole high school there was always something going on in her house, I mean her parents were arguing almost every day. But I don't know what happened that made them get separated ?"

"You don't know , her dad cheated on her mom that's why she was not doing well at school"Anjali said sadly

Few people around heard including Shravan . He was stunned to hear this, he didn't know anything about this issue .He quickly looked at Suman who stood there shocked, she didn't expect that her personal matter would be shared in such way. Suman looked at Anjali painfully yet angry "I trusted you anjali ,I didnt expect this from you "

Shravan saw her eyes glistening and watched her excusing herself . She couldn't hold back her tears for any longer and rushed out the crowd. On her way she bumped into Rahul who dropped his drink on her shirt by accident.

She didn't stop and continued her way upstairs. She was hurt , embarrassed and humiliated during this whole party.

She went in the bathroom locking the door and staring at herself in the mirror. She wiped her tears that flowed down uncontrollably .The issue of her parents was very sensitive to her and hearing people talk about it brought great pain to her heart .Only she knew how she overcame those tough times.

"Come on Sumo your strong! Don't let any of their talks affect you! Remember you battled many wars in life don't let them shake yourself esteem and self respect! Go back and show them that no stick and stones can break you

Suman grabbed her bag from the corner of the sink and changed into her spare chemise. She wiped her last tears coming out the bathroom only to see Shravan standing in front of her. She walked pass him fixing her hair .

"Suman you can go home I'll manage the rest"he could clearly see that shes been crying

"I'm not going anywhere until my work is finished here"

"Look I'm giving you the permission to leave" he was feeling guilty she endured enough for the evening .He didn't want her to feel insulted at the Party anymore

"Listen Mr.Shravan Malhotra I don't leave my work half way or unfinished !I complete every task given to me .Understand!"she stated firmly yet fierce "As for what's happening downstairs I know you planned all of it but you know what I won't let it affect my work or me "

Shravan held her right arm wanting to explain himself but she removed his hand warningly and walked downstairs. Shravan clutched his jaws feeling irked "Why Is this girl so stubborn!"

Suman came back downstairs starting to put the main course on the table with Ramu Kaka . She brought the plates and utensils. The party continued but Suman decided to stay more towards the kitchen side and Ramu kaka served the guest .Shravan kept an eye on Suman who was talking to his client Mr.Berry. He noticed that she was very friendly with his clients making them laugh and smile. But he could see the hidden pain behind her grin.

Shravan said good bye to the last guest shutting the door , he went in the living area only to see her cleaning up, throwing the paper cups and plates in a black garbage bag .

"Suman go home now , leave this I'll take care of it"he tried t take the bag from her

Suman ignored continuing, he snatched the bag annoyed "Are you deaf didn't you hear what I just said !?"

" your forgetting Mr. Shravan Malhotra that it's not 12 am yet and according to the contract I'm not suppose to leave before that "

She said going in the kitchen .

He looked at the time it was 11:55pm, she was really starting to frustrate him! He sat on the couch waiting for her to leave , she came out the kitchen with her side bag " I put the left over desserts and food in the fridge "

Shravan nodded "it's getting late I'll drop you home "

"No I can go myself , I don't need your kindness "She said harshly walking out

" Suman wait .."

"Listen I tried to apologize to you be nice to you but my efforts failed .I never expected that you would go to such extreme planning to bring up my family issue in the party!"

"Look I..."

" Enough Mr Shravan Malhotra ! You purposely called my boss so I can work in your house as a waitress, you called old classmates so they can insult me deliberately! You got what you wanted .You got even with me and got your revenge! Now please leave me alone!"

"I just want to.."

"My work here is over !" she said sternly and walked away calling preeta on her phone . He didn't move his eyes from her until she got a ride safely.

The whole night Shravan was thinking about the party and how he behaved with her. He thought by making her a waitress in front old school mates and embarrassing her would erase the grudge inside him, but it only made him feel guilty .He didn't expect things to get this personal. He had no idea about what happened in her family and it wasn't fair that it was mentioned at the Party .It was hurtful and insensitive.

The whole night Suman was disturbed by the events at the party . She couldn't believe Shravan did all this, but why wouldn't he?revenging her was the only way he could get even with her. She took a deep sigh "It's over Sumo, don't think about it anymore, start a new day " She told herself laying down in bed. She knows that she wasn't the same girl years ago, events in her life changed her for the better.

Ohhh😔 poor Sumo. Shravan you are a big big bully. Now that Shravan knows about Sumo hopefully something goody goody will happen soon.
