Shravan loves Sumo but does he loves Suman?

So friends, I am back again. The below mentioned diabetre is not based on the current accident track, it has been coming to me since ages.Whenever I see Shravan these days, a thought crosses my mind time and again.

Shravan loves Sumo... there is not an iota of doubt about it. But does he love Suman is my question.

From the very beginning, all his anger, his frustrations, his love, his friendship has been for the girl he was friends with when he was 16, his SUMO. He I feel has been frozen in time when it comes to her. I know that he went to London and is this hot-shot lawyer but did he have any true friends post Sumo, someone he bared his heart to??

Whenever he has this tender feelings regarding her, he remembers Sumo, his 16 year old bff, his gundi. Sumo who fought with him, cared for him basically was fully open infront of him. What about the grown-up woman Suman. Does he love her or more importantly respects her being, her independence, her struggles,her dreams? Yes he supports her (Khosla case) but I feel he is yet a few steps away from being completely in love with Suman.

To be honest, at many instances before the accident, it felt as if he spends time with her searching for his Sumo. And whenever he notices the changes, he goes off the boiler. He withdraws.

I understand that it is natural as he had been away but I am apprehensive that will he be ever able to reconcile Sumo with Suman.

Anyways, I am loving EKDV as it discovers love from a different & fresh perspective.

You put it forth in a very articulate manner.
Shravan gave her the name Sumo, the fighter, the idealist. Aren't we all idealist as kids?? But life and its realites mar our idealism. Suman has retained the fiestiness of Sumo but along with it she now sees the world without blinkers. Life happened to Sumo and she matured and bloomed into this wonderful woman that is Suman. Sumo is a part and parcel of Suman but Suman certainly has more layers to her.

Shravan, to be honest, continues to love his own perception of Suman that is Sumo. He is yet to fully appreciate the complexities of Suman.

I feel differently - Sharvan identified Sumo from Suman but he knows Suman too

But... What happened in past 10 years and changes in Suman and his Sumo he need to understand

He loved Sumo for what she was and he never will try to change her

He loves for what she is and will do it

10 years back he was left abandoned not just by his lady love ... but also with the one relation which can never abandon ... MOTHER...

So before he could be abandoned again he chose to abandon ... & he clammed up ... closed his emotions or rather froze his emotional side ... ( u see the glimpse in his dealings with the case he helps Pushakr solve in the first few episodes)

Poplins ... had come up with a very interesting ques a few weeks back ... on why a son who idolises his father did not come down even once to visit him ... the answer to this is in the nightmare he saw when his father was presumed dead ... he hears his father saying .. i am leaving u 2 ... & that strikes the insecurity in him ... & he gets up & clings ...

lets pause for a moment on this ... before he wanted to abandon ... & the moment he felt he would be abandoned he clung ... his priorities got aligned straight ... coz he could not bear to have another of his closed one pulled away from him ...

In the case of Sumo ... u know we sometimes over look the most important aspect of their relation ... the biggest thing we keep in the forefront is ... the letter ... but the thing which defines their relation is ... SUMO was the one who initiated this friendship ... Sumo who was the flavour of the season .. befriended him ...& she spent most of her time with him ...

The Sumo who was an immature vane girl ..( well who isn't at 16) he fell in love with the girl who ignored him at school ... who rebuffed him at school ... so there must be something in her he saw to fall in love with ...

As yet we have only seen FB's of sad times or fun times these 2 have shared ... we have seen the immature girl ... but a girl orphaned at such an young age .. had to have a measure of maturity beyond her age ... that side we have not been shown ... the first glimpse of this we saw last night in the FB .. when she first bullies him ... & then goes back & sits ( rather makes him sit) next to him & reads the comic ... something he loved ...

There is much more to this relation which we have not seen .. our first glimpse of the tale was the BOY was in love with the GIRL ... the girls side of the story has not been narrated ... when they fought recently .. his FBs were about the time he had injured his foot .. his FB was about the time she cared for him when his father was presumed dead ...

He knows the girl who is Suman ... who is Sumo .. he knows the side which is Sumo .. the one who will fight for him .. he also knows Suman . the girl who would patiently care for him when he is down ... he has loved the WHOLE ...

Heres something which has puzzled me ... why is that we question Shravan's love ... IT took a year of his friendship to fall in love with her ... & then nurtured that love in his heart as a wound for 10 long years ... theres a school of thot which believes (Pushkar) he came back for Sumo only ... he has verbalised his love .. he was ready to speak out his love as well ...WHY IS THERE A QUESTION ON HIS LOVE ...

Whereas Suman/Sumo ... she was shown as someone who abandoned him .. she was the abrasive girl ...who did not show the depth of feelings that Shravan showed ... she read a letter & then she was in love ... ( WE HAVE NOT SEEN HER BACK STORY) ... some of the glimpses were in her moms old house ... also post Holi when she says i did not abandon u ... why do we not question her DEPTH OF LOVE ... does she really know the Shravan she loves ??????????

my answer to this YES she knows who she is in love with ... but there is much more ambiguity here than in Shravan's tale ...
