Shravan loves Suman but does he respect her?

Hello people hope you all are having a great morning. I was actually re-watching the epi and a thought just struck me. The way Shravan rubbished Sumans stand for her self-respect as her stubborness and attitude I wonder If really does Shravan Malhotra respect Suman?? There are no two ways about the fact that he loves her insanely. And he had all the reasons to, afterall this girl was the only one who became his closest pal during his adolcense. She spent all her time in his company and shared everything with him be it her food, her dreams or even her tantrums. Her company was one thing that gave Shravan unbounded happiness. Somehow he was destined to be in love with her and she was destined to be his irrevocable desire and dream. But the truth is that a mature relationship between two adults needs more than just love - It takes trust, it takes understanding and most of all it takes respect. And this is where Mr. Shravan Malhotra seems to be lacking.

But to be honest, he is not the one totally at fault here. It was destinys ploy that he never got a chance to see her once ziddi n arrogant Sumo grow into this beautiful woman she today is. He never got a chance to be so close to her that he could find reasons to consider her self respect as important as his own. He never got any reason to respect her so passionately that a single blow to her respect can make him squirm in pain and angst. And this is what exactly Pushkar also said. Shravan does not know what all she has done all this while. Somehow for him Sumo is just a rebellious extension of the stubborn girl she was in school. Coz though he got a glimpse of how much her self respect matters for her during the Khaunsla track but now after feeling the heat himself, he is getting the real taste of it.

And thus I feel that if really this accident track is for Shravan to find his sweet reasons to respect Suman, I am more than ecxited for it!! And I think this is exactly where his guilt comes in picture too. This guilt ought to do a lot with misunderstanding her fighting spirit/independence as her arrogance and letting her fall.

I just hope that during the accident tracl when he will be closer than ever to her, he finally learns to not just love but respect her too. For him he has always been a savior to her, her knight in shining armor but he needs to learn that if she needs him to save her or not is her decision and in case he really loves her he ought to respect her decision. He needs to learn that Sumo of today is much more than his childhood friend who was always in need of some rescue. She is her own hero and until he learns to respect this about her, even his unconditional love shall fall short for her some day.

i have been similar thoughts .. he loves her as she is the one person who brings immense joy and fun in his drab life .. the more he is with her softer he gets .. that is one the main reason he fell in love with her ..
he loved being needed by her .. hence he did all the her work even though she didnt reciprocate ..

he doesnt respect her as an entrepreneur nor trust her .. his skewed view of women demands her to be constantly be the pacifier for his angst ..

he doesnt have enough knowledge about suman .. or have any good examples of independent , self sufficient women in his life .. he doesnt realize how it works ..

even in yest epi . he wanted to be needed so he expected to her ask for papers .. ( FYI they wanted lease the property to her not just give her .. so it makes sense why he actually went to offer) .. but he realized she doesnt need him it did make him feel ..

at this stage love is merely not enough for Shraman to sustain

I have a question...
Can love and self-respect be mutually exclusive emotions? If you love someone, then shouldnt it be because you respect someone for what he or she really is? You value the person as he or she is demanding no change...Give them a room to dream on... to pursue their ambitions...
How can love and respect for the same person be compartmentalized?
If Shravan Malhotra really loves her... and I use the word.. "really" then shouldnt he respect her as well?

And if he is yet to fall in love with her... then probably respect has to evolve to begin with?

Question is he in love with her? 😃

I too have been raking my brain on this (not a good thing to do on a workday) 😆 and I dont know how to put this across - but here's what I think - he loves her for sure - but as of now its more of a need, a foil - or at least that's the part that has surfaced. he needs to need her, like no matter what - i am sure that's there too but that despair is hidden inside him, somewhere - and the accident track will purge that out - i guess! and he of course respects her - else why would he "severely" downplay his emotional connect with sumo in front of his dad or secretly challenge her (n the garb of arrogance) and all that! but he's a very broken boy - and is merely learning to handle or solve his own emotional puzzle (which is more like a mess😆) - hence his need for triggers

enough rambling 😛

Indrani you raised a very apt question here...I feel true love and respect cannot be mutually exclusive. So in that case can we say that Shravan does not love her? I think yes and no. IMO his love for her is still the childhood attraction, infatuation, desire and extreme liking he always had for her. For him being her savior or caring for her never came as an option...it was something he thought he was born to do. But again was that love? In truest sense, it wasn't. Because apart from the extreme happiness that her company brought to him, there was nothing in particular about her character or her qualities that left him awed. And this is where the adult Shravan must come into play...the shravan of today need to figure out that why exactly he loves her...and he cannot do that until he finds reasons to respect her.

word 👏! we use the word love so frivolously these days as if it is a replacement for attraction. i have thought about this - i think he respects her deep down but is not sure what respect is? you know what i mean - again that is because of convoluted upbringing of kalanath and kamini. so he needs to rediscover that feeling of respecting sumo without the crazy ideas that are in his head and that can only happen when he starts thinking on his own
