She frantically walk/ran towards the room where the receptionist had pointed. Her legs slowed down as he saw his family sat on the benches. Pushkar looked up and there were tear streaks on his face. He walked towards her slowly, wiping his face. She looked at him questioningly, scared and speechless. "K...kkaise? ...kahan hai woh?" She managed to utter.
"Woh ghar par..." he said reluctantly, looking back at his family. He sat sumo down on a bench with her and told her, "woh ghar par bada scene hogaya tha yaar...tu ne jo kaha badepapa ke baare mei woh sab unho ne khud admit kiya mere saamne...mamma bhi thi wahan...humei pata nahi tha ki shravan bhaiya bhi piche door ke paas hain...bohot shock laga unhe aur ghusse mei ghar se chalegaye..."
He was trying to hold back tears as he continued, " mai ne unhe bohot rokne ki koshish ki, woh bhagrahe aur mai unke peeche bhaga aur kuch dur pe rukgaya...mujhe unke saath hona chahiya tha...rok leta mai unhe!"
He broke down and sumo put a hand on his houlder consoling him and looking at him intently to know what had happened to him.
"Woh road par the aur ek minivan mei kuch drunk ladhke the aur--"
Sumo's hands clapsed at her mouth as she sharply inhaled in shock.
"How bad is it?" She asked, her voice alien to her.
Pushkar just looked at her, trying to frame his words to make it sound not as bad.
"Bol pushkar!" She shouted at him.
"Operation chal raha hai. Bohot blood loss hua hai...aur injuries kaafi gehri hain...kuch keh nahi sakte...doctors bol rahe hai shayad coma mei jaane ke chances hai" he mumbled, faltering at each revelation as it got worse.
Preeti was sat beside sumo as pushkar silently cried kneeling in front of her. She grasped his hand in comfort.
Sumo sat still drinking in what pushkar told her. It is true that our mind immediately jumps to the worst conclusion in any situation. The thought that she would lose him forever entered her brain just for a second but it had already had it's effect on her. No. He cant leave her. Nothing is going to happen to him. He's going to be just fine. End of story.
The door of the operation theatre opened and the doctor came out and pushkar and preeti ran to him.
"Doctor, mera beta??" Asked ramnath.
"Dekhiye. Patient ki heartbeat kaafi tezz thi on time of impact. Jiski wajah se complications hain. Shayad inhe nervous breakdown hua hai. We have taken care of his wounds. But abhi kuch keh nahi sakte. We'll keep him under observation for 24 hours." He says and leaves.
Everyone moves aside as 2 wardboys pull the stretcher out on which lay shravan. Bandaged and needled. Everyone watches in shock as they wheel him towards the Intensive Care Unit. Sumo slowly stands as they take him past her and something inside her breaks. He was tattered and wounded. Not the big, brawn, purified pillar of strength she was so used to.
They keep shravan under observation for 24 hours. Sumo refuses to leave all the while and pushkar accompanies her. Lalaji and varun take ramnath home to get him some rest after much comvincing.
Pushkar and sumo sit in front of his room as pushkar tells her about what went down in the malhotra mansion. Sumo starts to cry.
"Sab meri ghalti hai pushkar. Na maine us din nirmala aunty se us hay milaya hota na ye sab hota..."
Pushkar holds her hand and says, " sumo aisa mat bol yaar. Its not your fault...aaj nahi toh kal bhaiya ke saamne ye sab baatein aani hi thi...ye achha hai ki unhe sab sach pata chalgaya, warna aage jaake aur problems hoti ki humei sab pata tha aur hum ne unhe nahi bataya."

Shravan doesn't show any signs of improvement in the 24 hours and is declared to be comatosed. Pushkar and sumo look at him shocked and unable to speak. They walk into his room and she looks at his form on the bed. Seemingly lifeless and pale. He looked so broken that it hurt her to even look t him like that. She touches his fingers and they're not warm and smooth anymore. They're cold and limp. She sits by his bed staring at him blankly until a hand on ber shoulder shakes her. Vandy bhabhi. She goes home to get freshened.
She cries in ths shower at his condition. It doesnt matter what he's done to her or how much he's hurt her. She loved him endlessly.
He had been the one who was hurt and in abed but it was she who had almost died on the inside just because he almost did.
She stayed in hospital all day for 3 days and there was no improvement in him. She even stayed the night sometimes just because.
No one from the malhotra family stopped her because they knew what the two shared. And no one at tiwari villa had the courage or the heart to stop her after looking at how she was suffering. Her pain was visible on her face and everyone knew there was nothing that could be done to change that.
It was the fifth day and she sat on his bed beside him, holding his hand. She had put on a brave front for all these days but now that she was alone with him, all she wanted to do was cry. And tell him what he meant to him. All she wanted was for him to wake up. It didnt matter if he didnt love her back. Just wake up.
A tear escapes her eye and falls on their entwined hands that sit on her lap. "Please uthjao..." she whispered as she cried. "Please shravan...pyaar karti hoon mai tumse..." she cried. Sobs rocked her body and more tears fell onto their entwined hands. A sudden movement in his wrist occurs and she stands up looking at him. His breath seemed to get deeper as his chest started to fall and rise rapidly and the machines by him went beeping. She runs out the room to call for the doctor. The doctor and the nurse rush into the room. Ramnath and pushkar walk in and stand in shock.
"Kya hua?" Asks ramnath and sumo replies "haath! Usne haath hilaya aur phir woh..." she stops as the doctors furiously fret over him with breathing pumps and what not.
"Heart rate lowering. Defibrillator now." The doctor commanded the nurse who brought out the defibrillators ready to give the man electric shock to revive his heart rate.
Sumo, pushkar and ramnath stare in shock and worry as all of this goes down. The doctors press the defibrillators on shravan and his body bounces off the bed. Once and twice and thrice. Sumo has her hands over her mouth as she cries at the sight in front of him. The machines beep continuously and then its one long never ending beep of a flatline.
The doctors stop everything they're doing and step away. Pushkar's eyes widen in horror at them.
"Im sorry" a doctor mumbles at ramnath who falters and pushkar holds him.
Sumo's world is torn down. The two words leave her in shock. No. He cant leave me. No. Aisa ho hi nahi sakta. Kuch nahi hoga usse. Woh shravan hai! Kaise hoga us he kuch?
"Ye kya bakwaas hai?!" She asks the doctor loudly.
" kya sorry?! Haan? Kuch nahi hua hai shravan ko! Uthega woh!" She yells at him and then walks over to shravan's lifeless form.
"Shravan" she says softly but urgently, shaking his arm.
"Shravan utho" she urges him by shaking him.
She sits on the bed takes his hand and pulls it to her cheek, "dekho! Mai hoon! Sumo! Utho naa! Please! Ab bas karo ye naatak lambu!"
She grabs him by the shoulders and shakes him more strongly now.
"Uthooo!!!! She screams. " utho na! Please! Mai bohot pyaar karti hoon tum se! SHRAVAN!!!"
She grabs his face and shakes it, trying to wake him up..
A doctor tries to take her away from him but she pushes him away.
"UTHO SHRAVAN! KUCH TOH BOLO!!!...LADHO MUJHSE!... BOLO KI TUM MUJHSE KITNI NAFRAT KARTE HO!!" sumo yelled as she cried at his lifeless form.
"UTHJAO SHRAVANN!! Mat karo aisa!" She held the cloth at his chest and wept into it.
"Tum mujhe nahi chorhsakte pleaseee...she wailled into his chest as her body shook from grief.
Pushkar and ramnath stood bawling their eyes out too looking at their now lifeless brother and son and the girl who loved him breaking down.
There was a sudden sharp, audible intake of breath and sumo felt his chest rise under her. She looked up at him in shock only to to be whisked away by a pair of hands as doctors frantically worked over him, putting oxygen masks on and pumping his chest. The flatline had stopped and small beeps filled the room.
Pushkar and ramnath looked at the scene flabbergasted.
His chest seemed to rise slower now as his breath normalized. "He's back!" The doctor said loudly, making the three of them look at him.
"Mr. Malhotra, congratulations. Your son seemed to have escaped death very slyly! He's safe now. His heartbeat is strong enough but we will keep him under observation."
He leaves along with the other doctors leaving a nurse and the family behind. Ramnath walks over to shravan and places his hand on shravan's face and cries. Pushkar sits on the bed and hugs shravan's waist as he weeps in relief and fear.
Sumo just stood there not doing a thing. Her life had almost been taken away. She had lost him but he came back. She felt herself dying with him and she rose as he did. The feeling of sudden loss that she had felt when he flatlined scared her to no eternity and made her realize that he was a part of her that she could not afford losing. Relief struck her as he was revived. The nurse asks them to leave and they do.
She goes along with ramnath and pushkar to see the doctor.
"Shravan's case is a miracle to us. After we did a scan of his brain activity and his nervous system, we deduced that he was emotionally shook and losing awareness of his surroundings when the car hit him. In cases like these, it is very rare that a person survives mentally and physically. He was in a coma for 5 days and only something emotionally stirring or very close to him could have affected his brain and heart activity." The doctor explains and pushkar and ramnath look at sumo.
She suddenly understands. She was with him before everything happened.
"I am not sure unka mental state kaisa rahega but physicaly the scans seem to be perfectly normal."
They thank the doctor and leave. They stand outaide shravan's room looking in thriugh the broad window. Pushkar looks at sumo and moves towards her, encasing her in a big hug, tears leaving his eyes. She doesnt respond at first but as she feels him against her, crying, she clutches him back and weeps too. "Sumo bhaiya chalegaye the...tum layi ho unhe wapas..." he mumbled between sobs.
Pushkar calls everyone and informs them what happened. He also calls preeti and informs her. Lalaji and varun arrive and pushkar takes ramnath home. Sumo stays.
Later that night, shravan gained conciousness. One by one pushkar, who had come back, naanu, lalaji, chachi and vandy met him. He seemed normal but weak. After everyone met him, it was sumo's turn and she walked into the room.
Pushkar escorted everyone out of the hospital as he and sumo were going to stay the night.
Sumo walked in to see him backed up against the tilted bed and pillows. And slowly walked to him and sat on the bed facing him.
Pushkar looked on through the window as sumo sat beside bhaiya. She raised her hand and whacked him across his face.
She sat for moment then SLAP! She smacked him across his face. He looked back up and didnt seem to question her.
"Paagal ho tum?!" She cries.
"Kya hai ye sab?! Mujhe laga mai ne tumhe hamesha ke liye khodiya!"
Shravan raised his hand and laced it in her hands, " sumo mai---"
But she cuts him mid sentence, "agli baar aisa kuch kya shravan malhotra toh mai maardalungi tumhei!!" She yelled.
She then looked at his eyes watering and hugged him tight. She burried her face in his chest and cried whole heartedly. Shravn could only lightly hold her as she wept into him but his eyes were streaming just like hers. She broke the hug and held his face in her hands and began to kiss every inch of his face in a hurried manner. His eyes, his forehead his cheeks, hair, temples, everything as she still cried. "Im sorry" he mumbled as she held his face. She just wiped his tears and shook her head in a no. They stayed like that burried in each other's arms.
Pushkar looked at them through the window, relieved. Atlast. He knew they wouldnt be able to be apart. It wasnt in their nature. These two were naturally drawn to each other like magnets. And he believed that is was her words that brought him back.
