Many Many congrats to Team EDKV on reaching their first milestone ... Happy 50th episode ...
A milestone episode ... a deluge of love outpoured by fans ... a huge expectation built up ... pressure built to great heights ... now in most cases gags or punches would define the milestone ... but but but ... EDKV did come with promise of fresh ... & freshness it delivered ...
As i sat in front of my TV screen ... i saw 2 young kids ... two misguided young souls ... who perhaps grew up to soon ...who were forced to grow up & assume the mantle ... who were desperately hiding behind the masks of MATURED individuals ...
At no point of time in todays episode cud i see the elder Sumo & Shravan ... all i saw were the 2 young kids in school ... struggling with living the PERFECT HAPPY LIFE ... both of them were rudely taught one lesson ... a LESSON ... TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE >>>>>>>>>>>>>
Before i go on to explain the title of the wine shot tonite ...heres a nuance thats been striking me from the past few episodes ... CHACHI & Shravan ... Shravan hides his short fuse really well... its there in that scene when he placates the woman in Pushkar's office ... but a temper he has .. which is what we constantly see glimpses of during the Khosla case ...
And now increasingly .. we see it creeping up in his interaction with CHACHI ... his exasperation with CHACHI fairly sizzled tonite ... & whats more striking was his cynical look when she is spouting all the care talk ... heres an equation one needs to look out for ...
AS we see the track developing with past playing out ... Pushkar & preeti also joining the equation .. this interaction will be become all the more important ... keep an eye out ...
I have moved on ... THE MASK ...
She stood in front of him on a dark night .. barely light to see the road .. forget each others stormy emotions ... she told him hesitantly ... I AM SORRY ... for what i did to you when we were KIDS ... Suman creeps up .
He said ... r u still stuck in school ... its okay I HAVE MOVED ON ... Shravan in MASK ...
She said ... ITNI BADI BAAT BHI NAHI THI ... SUMO MASK
That day they once again decided to wear their masks ... in front of each other ... the man who recognised her from just a glimpse of her back ... but denied that he knew any SUMO ...
So what did he do ... he went to elaborate lengths to teach her a much needed lesson in friendship etiquettes ...
The question this writer had was just one ... MOVED ON .. is that so ????????
She who waited for 10 years to say I AM SORRY ... but pledges to him .. can't wait to see the back of you...
The only person who smiled & rubbed the sweat of his forehead was TIME ...
That fateful FRIDAY in school he told her i wrote u a letter ... she said i missed it ..will read it come monday ... BUT ... TIME & DESTINY wait for no one ... that one miss ... cost them 10 years ...
Did u ever wonder .. why Shravan could not simply write another letter to her ... clearly Sumo was clueless to what he wrote ...
Did u ever wonder if it was all important for them ... why did SUMO not rush back to school & pick on the letter either on that day or monday ?????
Because even back then ... they wore MASKS with one another ...he worshipped the ground she walked on ...but called her SUMO the wrestler (fighter) ...
She secretly thought of him as her anchor ...the one who would never leave her ... but put up a face of nonchalance in front of him ...he called her SUMO ... & SUMO was what she was to him ...
Did u ever feel that .. HELL if she had read his letter then .. the story would be different ...no it couldnt be ... coz the masks they wore have to come down for the 2 to meet ...
Hence the title song reads .. MIL JAATE HAI JO BANE EK DUJE KE VAASTE ...
Shravan had to come out of the SUMO shadow to clearly see SUMAN .. the girl who NEEDED him ... not JUST THE OTHER WAY ROUND ...
& Suman had to drop the SUMO mask & LET HIM iN .. let him see the VULNERABLE SHATTERED Girl .. the girl who had insecurities . the girl who had fears ... the girl who was broken
for their LOVE STORY TO BEGIN .. they had to become FRIENDS AGAIN ... its simply called CATHARSIS ...
A friendship of equals ... now lets connect some dots here 😉
She returns the 3 lakhs back to him
She begged him to drop the case .. saying i can't take another favour from you
She very willingly agreed to any fees he would charge her ...
She had to become his equal ofcourse ...but but but ... even then she was being SUMO to him .. the name he gave her .. the role he drew for her ... SUMO .. the girl who would not let anyone be OVER HER ... NO ONE UPMANSHIP with SUMO .. she would not be SMALLER FOR A FRIEND ...

Sumo the name was coined by SHRAVAN ... ( did u not wonder why this was SO IMPORTANT an FB) as per Sumo .. Shravan wanted to see her as SUMO .. the fearless girl ... she was the strong one in this equation not because she was strong but because SHRAVAN wanted to see her as STRONG ...
THE MASK ...
So this love story finds its base with the title called SUMO ... if this love story has to progress ...SUMO & SUMAN need to be friends with Shravan ...
Did u notice tonite how SUMAN creeped out ...she crumbled when she read the letter ...but as she sat & questioned him .. SUMO jumped out ... she wore the mantle of the mask ... hence hid behind a generic question .. have u ever loved anyone ...
Shravan ... the young boy who felt to much ... he was enamoured from the get go ... is it any wonder .. on their first meeting he impressed her with his skill ... she was also surprisingly his only REAL friend ... albeit secretly ... but somewhere the young lost boy found someone who he thought would accept him warts & all ... he hid behind the mask of a MEEK fellow ... coz he thought to keep her to him .. she would need to SHINE bright ...
He even then realised SUMO was a much needed MANTLE that this lost girl needed to face the world ... he stood on the periphery of her orbit ... but wanted to be her SUN MOON & star ... not realising that agreeing to being on the periphery signed his FATE for him ...
The Mask of the MEEK ... antisocial ... FRIEND that he donned ... cost him his heart ...
CUT TO 10 years ...
Heres a question this writer has in her mind .. what has changed??? ... ZILCH ...
Suman Tiwari is still SUMO ... but ofcourse with maturity she has shown him a glimpse of Suman ... but she still wears the mantle of SUMO .. hence she does not agree to go with him to the party till he calls her SUMO ...
Shravan ... he is still the young kid who is waiting for her approval .. who just wants Sumo to shine ... (look at the Khosla final trial case for reference) ...they both have successfully donned the mask once again ...
The mask u ask ... THE MASK OF FRIENDSHIP ...
they were never friends ... she was the one who befriended him when no one else did the same ...
he was her anchor .. the one who drove loneliness of an orphaned youth away ... YES They were always meant to be EK DUJE KE VAASTE ... but they hid their LOVE under the mask of FRIENDSHIP ...
Now for the nuance in this episode which probably made me pen the above jumbled piece ...
the passport issue ... she hides his passport .. hoping to stop him from going away ... ( go to the promo ... woh haq kahan se laon) ...
the moment he tells her ... i would've gone anyways .. Chachi just expedited the departure ... ( go to the promo ... tum keh do ek baar sau baar ruk jaon)
She promptly gives him his passport back ...& then they play their game of MASKS OFF ... but what was funny was through out the game they wore their masks ... the mask of FRIENDSHIP ...
Even as they gave out the RIGHT answers .. they cloaked it in their mask ... they both played the card of V R FRIENDS ...
Hence for me the highlight of this episode was the scene where she holds his hands & tries to speak to him ... that interaction is beyond fantastic ... its of 2 people who have LOVED .. who still do LOVE ...but but but ...
One says i have moved on .. the other becomes a friend & offers advice ... The mask remaining INTACT ...
Now step back & review the scene ... if the all important 3rd question was asked by Shravan as well ... have u ever been in love ???
& what if she had decided to hell with being strong SUMO ... she would simply be SUMAN ... & ask him ... whether he had figured out .. WAS IT LOVE???????????? 😳
A standing ovation to the writers .. who in 50 episodes ... have woven such a beautifully interlaced story line .. each & every highlight point of this show is linked to each other ... & that makes this show beyond brilliant ...
I probably make no sense ... coz my thot are so jumbled with JET LAG ... but the brilliance of the episode made me pen ... Open to clarify any question u have on the jumbled puzzle i call writing on top ... oops did i mention .. they did not show the precap in my country ... i am hoping there was one .. & it was as exciting as this episode promised ...
