Bonding with my mom over EDKV & ShraMan

So the cutest thing happened today, and I just wanted to share it with you guys. Literally I'm so attached to this show and such events are only intensifying it, because attachment to this show comes from not just the show, but the memories it gives you, like EDVK gave me this one.

So I was out in the living room, doing some homework (around 9:30 pm-ish) and my mom who'd already gone to bed woke up to go to the bathroom and then just on whim decided to come out to the living room and sit with me. She and my dad have been really emotional over the past few days because my school days are coming to an end (I'll be graduating in June). I personally think there's still a lot of time left to get emotional over that, but I guess I won't really understand their point of view because I'm not a parent.

So anyways, she came and sat with me. She just started talking about like how after August I'm gonna go off to college and she just wanted to spend some time with me, and since it's Saturday and all she was like "it's ok, I'll sleep an hour later." Fun fact, meri mom ko apni neend SABSE pyaari hai, so this was a big deal for me. So we talked for a bit, about random things. and then she looked at the clock and was like "Kriti, 10 wagya, taaro show aavse. Chalo hu pan jovu aaje taari jode." (Hindi translation: Kriti, 10 baj gaye, tera show aata hoga! Chalo main bhi dekhti hoon aaj tere saath.)

AND I WAS LIKE OMG SHE REMEMBERED!?

Mostly because I toh always gush about this show to her, I've been doing it non-stop ever since I started watching it 😆 and I always thought she dismissed it as "Kriti and her pagalpan" and just you know listened but didn't really pay attention, kyun ki main toh hamesha bakwaas karti rehti hoon 😆. But I was so shocked that she remembered.

I was like "MAMA, I can't believe you remember that!" but then I disappointingly told her that it doesn't air on weekends. But then I told her I can pull up the episodes on the internet and she was like sure (really showed me how much she wanted to do this for me 😳). We watched the episode where Shravan fixes her car & the reunion party episode. She smiled at all the right moments when Suman was smiling during the car ride and watched the second episode with a sober/non-judgmental face, like she was really trying to absorb all that was going on.

And just this gesture meant so much to me because like she was actively trying to take interest in something I'm so passionate about and was so attentive during the episode, during a time she'd normally be asleep, it just meant a lot. And because I talk so much about the show she had a good amount of background but I kept explaining things and after a while she was like, "I know I'm old, but I'm not that old. I can figure out what's going on." 😆 And then we discussed the show a little bit, I was really surprised to see how clearly she'd formulated her thoughts in that short amount of time while I'm sitting here still figuring out my emotions. I guess wisdom really does come with experience.

Overall I guess it was just a really cute moment for me, and I wanted to share this with you all. Honestly though, after being so head-over-heels in love with the show, it's not like I needed another reason to love the show! But the memories it's giving me--my amazing friends at the AT, the lively episode discussions where I discover new things about my own self (as in, the way I perceive things), and now this. The show repeats at 5-5:30 pm which is exactly when I get back from school, so my mom was like, now when you get back from school, we'll make it a point to watch it together, and it just meant sooo much to me.

Alright, I think this post is getting too long, sorry!

And thanks for reading about this little experience of mine!

Lots of love,

Kriti ❤️

This is making me so emotional,I swear.
You know as time goes on, most parents struggle to find that connection with their kids because we are so busy building our lives and they are finally settling and sometimes, that creates friction.
I am so glad that you found this connection with your mom because that is so important and shapes us into who we are. ❤️

Sanika! 🤗

Aww ❤️ Yeah, it was one of those moments where I really just felt like...wow, I'm really going to miss this. With college on the cards next year, I've mostly been preoccupied with that, never really stopped to think about the big change it's going to be, for them and me. Like these moments where I can see them actively trying to make an effort to form some sort of connection with me are priceless. And somewhere it's only increasing my attachment to the show. ❤️

Haha thanks Hasu ❤️,

Yep yep yep, ShraMan jhaap 24x7 😆. AWW THAT'S SO CUTE! My mom isn't the best at Hindi either, but she used to watch soaps waaay back in the day (before she became disinterested 😆) which kind of helped her understanding and I think Gujarati and Hindi are very similar too, so many that helped. But still your mom saying that is so cute, I totally imagine it, "Dekho thera lamba walaa hero serial aagayaa" 😆 🤗

I think movies, shows, truly become classic when they can bring people together like this. EDKV, keep going for it! So glad to hear about your experiences Hasu!
