Vyom-Sharanya-Shiv: The missing pieces.

I had loved the first couple of weeks of this show. I felt bad for Sharanya - the girl who felt suffocated and frustrated because she couldn't remember so many years of her life; I felt drawn to Vyom - the man with a secret who has waited so long for the love of his life to come back to him; I felt intrigued by Shiv - a presence who we knew nothing about and yet he weighed so heavily in the story.
EDT had everything going right to hook the audience. And then the next 50 episodes happened. Sharanya had nothing to do except scream at the ghost for everything gone wrong, Vyom seemed to have lost purpose after Sharanya decided to marry him, and Shiv was reduced to nothing more than a nuisance in Sharanya's life. THAT disappointed! So much promise from the three characters and this is what we got.

But in these last few episodes combined with future spoilers, I have felt the elements slowly come back. All these characters bring a different dynamic to the story that is essential for the viewers to know what actually happened in their lives. They took a really long time to finally show us Shiv's side of the story and that was their biggest mistake. While Vyom is certainly shady and for now seems to be the darkest of the three leads, I don't think he is in any way involved in Shiv's murder. It was clearly established in the PCs that none of the three leads are negative. So now we need to know how he fits in.

Shiv and Sharanya were definitely a much in love couple. Sharanya didn't feel anything for Vyom when she woke up from coma but one look at Shiv's dead body and she couldn't contain her anguish - this fact can't be ignored. However, I don't for one second believe that Vyom is lying about being a part of her life. Madhvi's flashback with Shiv is very telling and we need to know what made Shiv behave the way he did. There was definitely some kind of a love triangle before Sharanya's accident. THIS is the main puzzle and each character is a piece of it.

Nearly three months into the show and I feel no great compassion to either of the three leads. Sure, I felt something for them here and there or I won't be watching the show. But I know how easily and how much I get attached to fictional characters. EDT hasn't been able to do that for me yet.

Audience's connect to the characters is extremely important to keep a show going. While story is the king and there can't be any comprises there, but it is the characters which audiences grow to love. I can only hope that from now, the main focus of the writers would be on this. They've wasted enough time.

P.S. The precap looks gorgeous, visually as well as performance-wise. So intense!

I don't know how Vikram managed to do what he did today. His eyes were blank but so scary! Also, I have seen his warm chemistry with Shilpa Tulaskar in an earlier show as mother-son. You would never guess these were the same actors.

Shivanya are some couple - destined yet starcrossed! I need more build-up before I can root for them but Sharanya's yearning for Shiv is really getting to me. It's very very saddening that the first thing she's truly remembered is Shiv - and he is no more. Also, I want to know more about Shiv as a person too. So far he's been shown as Sharanya's lover but surely there is more to him?

After so long I am getting excited again!

Great points, I feel the same way, I wish they had given us more about the characters in small ways to really so that we could get that emotional bonding. To me, there seems to be a great idea for the show overall, but they really need to work on their writing to flesh out the characters and make them multidimensional by themselves, not because spoilers tell us that there will be twists & turns. It's like they have all these high points they want to hit, but are unsure how to get to them so there's shoddy writing and direction until they get to new revelation.
In some ways, it feels like a Fan Fiction come to life because the show feels, to me, like it's being written about people and characters you should already know and understand and this is just another story. IDK how clear that was, but yeah.
And also- every episode before this with VSC has been good but I felt like most of it was the typical hero in serial types, but today when he came out of the ICU after Sadhvi, his eyes and smile were so unnerving! Kudos to him for doing that that, the whole scene was so unsettling because of how he played it 👏

Also since I wrote this much already, the editing choices they're making are really getting to me. There are so many, IMO, unnecessary camera zooms and sudden/shaky pans, and today there was a weird filter for the dream seq, and then most days the bg scores just dont fade into each other well at all! OK. I'm done ranting...

indian tv is are 2 decades behind the world...u cant bring change in a lot of aspects when ur target is the whole country...we still have serials with only saas bahu drama, women wearing lots of jewelry even at home, girls sit at home even though they have a degree cz khana kaun banayega, even if there is a strong girl they will make it sanskari maxed out hence will become annoying, bubbly girls are always stupid...such stereotypes rule the roost here...
yrf came out with such gem of stories in sony...but it was never continued!! reason indian audiences...so cant expect a drastic change in one go...slowly they are testing waters!! still prime time is ruled by mythological n saas bahu dramas...i find this show much better than any show on air at this period!! they have a story...its not like plots come and go...
its good that every charecter has something to contribute to the plot!! its hard to stretch a thriller to 130 episodes!!

Vikram really is amazing and I am waiting to see who Vyom really is.

Shivanya's separation is really sad. They were so happy together but it is almost impossible to get a happy ending for them now. Just want the makers to give them a well-executed closure. A lot depends on them.

I get what you're saying. Story is definitely the priority and it's good that the makers have that planned. But at least for me, feeling and sympathising with the characters is a very important part of TV viewing experience. Everest, P.O.W., etc. were all finite series with preset stories and characters who made me smile when they laughed and broke my heart when they cried. EDT is missing that and while it may not be a concern for most, it is for me.

Thank you! :)

You hit the nail on the head. They know their bigger picture but it is important to work out the smaller details to keep the viewers hooked. Donal has proved herself in the last couple of episodes and I have seen Vikram and Namik earlier. All three are so good with picking up nuances and bringing their characters to life. But there is only so much they can do if the script doesn't rise beyond a certain level.

You're right about the editing as well. I have noticed it too. But I haven't spoken much about it because my first concern was the lack of character development. I can do with jarring editing if I can relate to the characters. the filter on Shivanya was so cartoonish 😆

I think today's episode was badly executed. The camera angles were bad. Where Shiv and Sharanya stood out in their emotional scene on Friday, today they seemed awkward. And the camera angle is to blame. It is quite difficult to stand and act out a conversation, especially with such a height difference ...they should avoid long shots.
I always knew that Shiv did not mean to harm Sharanya in that first scene and the other scenes that followed. Only Vyom can explain the possession drama. Vikram is very good in negative roles. I thought Vyom stood out more than Shiv in today's episode. Possibly because he had more scope in his role today.

Shiv is not white either. I think he is hiding something. He does not like Vyom and Sharanya is not the reason. Lets face it. He's a ghost and as such has no future with Sharanya. So jealousy is not the reason for his dislike for Vyom. He knows something that he has hidden from the viewers and possibly Sharanya. In the precap, Shiv looks angry. I think there is something more to Vyom and Shiv than meets the eye.

The episodes that follow will unravel all the mysteries...like peeling of the leaves of an artichoke to get the artichoke heart which is the tastiest bit of the artichoke.

Precap shiv was signalling Saranya not to tell vyoom anything...
I find the editing always annoying!!
I guess shiv always had a dbt on vyoom that he is going to take Saranya away from him... Saranya myt be unaware of madhvi n shiv chat!! Maybe shiv n vyoom myt have had a face off... Saranya vyoom friendship myt have affected him the same way it affected vyoom...or maybe shiv knew there was some kind of danger on Saranya...
But tmw's episode can answer most of these...just have to see whose flashback is that! Vyoom or shiv's,shiv is going to tell Saranya also vyoom n sadhvi will have a chat!
