hey...replying to a question on twitter...they have the copyright of karz song...
the title song also they changed the lyrics...instead of ek haseena thi..ek deewana tha...
they sing ek deewana tha...ek deewana tha...
i don't think they will use the whole song!! they can add new lyrics or edit out the part according to the scene/screenplay demands...cz the play is being staged by saranya
I'm not sure if using a tune of an old song means that you have the copyright of the song.
Either way, have you checked Ayaan Khan's snapchat update? The director was explaining a scene to the cast and that's where I figured out that the Karz song will be used. He used the lines "Mar gaya woh jawaan" and then talked about ShivAnya getting seperated.
Now, since I know the full song, thanks to my Kishore-Asha obsession from my childhood, I know that the song won't make sense if they edit out stuff to suit the SS love story, here's why-
The song started with the para "Ek din woh mile...roz milte rahe"- so far so good. That will fit SS. Then comes the para which gave the first hint of the woman being a fraud, this included "Uske dil mein chhupi...chaah daulat ki thi".
After that comes the "Bewafa yaar ne apne mehboob se, aisa dhokha kiya". Now, if they decide to edit out the para, it will make no sense, there'll be no flow. It will be jumping straight from their love story to Shiv's death, without explaining the hows and whys. And as I said before, it would make no sense, it won't even give an explanation of who could be the killer. The whole point of the sequence will be moot if they do this.
Also, here's some proof of the sequence being done on the original Karz song-
From the sequence shoot (Look closely, Donal is wearing a jacket)
From the original song. Tina is wearing Simi's clothes from the day of murder Rishi is originally in it but Simi keeps imagining her ex hubby out of fear (2nd pic).
From Donal's insta story- the silhouette sequence being shot in the episodes.
From the original song- the silhouette sequence.
