Vishal Karwal's living it up
Vishal Karwal is living it up in Baroda. Playing the role of Lord Krishna in Imagine's mythological show Dwarkadheesh Bhagwaan Shree Krishna, he feels is the best thing that ever happened to him. In a chat he explains….
A regular actor taking up a mythological show is to say the least a different move and Vishal was adviced the same.
"Yes, I was nervous before taking the project on as friends and family told me that doing a mythological show at this juncture would harm my career. But I learnt that television has little to offer heroes. Dwarkadheesh is my third fictional show and I am glad to say in all my shows I have had meaty roles. The feedback on this show is tremendous. People don't send sms but send essays on what they like about the show. It is heartening. I can gladly & proudly say Dwarkadheesh is my show."
Shooting in Baroda, Gujarat too has been different for the actor. "I didn't know what to expect and how would the experience of shooting in a city for months outside Mumbai. But I have to say the arrangements surprised me. I have been given a bungalow in Alkapuri area which is very posh and has malls and restaurants around, so I go out post shooting and get entertained. During weekends, I come to Mumbai and fly back on Monday morning. So life is cool. I am enjoying myself."
Playing Lord Krishna is a high for him he adds, "I love the character. Lord Krishna is ingenious. The character, the costumes, the locale, the show -keep me going and I feel excited being part of such a show. It is a different high. I didn't know much about Lord Krishna before I began shooting though I had seen Mahabharat, but everyday I learn a new facet & a new story about Lord Krishna. The whole ambience and vibe is positive."
Hindi was least of his worries. "As I am from North India, a proper Punjabi, I never had problems talking in Hindi. Sure during my first show Bhagyavidhata, I had to work on a Bihari accent as the role was of a Bihari guy but my Punjabi accent would emerge. Later I was cool. And this time I didn't have to practice much."
