Today's highlights:
Krishna (Srikanth) explained to Pradhyumna that while he may have defeated Mayasura, Mayasura was still a superior fighter to him, Back @ home, Pradhyumna is reluctant to eat, so Krishna uses some reverse psychology to get him to eat. In the meantime, Mayasura is brooding over his father's latest insult, that he wishes that Pradhyumna were his son instead.
At night, Pradhyumna is practicing, when Krishna observes to him that while Shambara has entrusted him w/ teaching Mayasura, the latter doesn't seem to like him. Pradhyumna tells him that he's in no mood for any conversation. Since he thinks Mayasura is superior, why not teach him? Krishna tells him that Leela & Mohan are superior to him, and Pradhyumna asks him who are they? Krishna tells him to follow him.
They see a girl named Leela filling up a pot of water, putting it on her head, and then smoothly walking back home. Pradhyumna thinks it's an ordinary gal, and is not a fighter, so how is she superior? Krishna hands Pradhyumna an empty pot, gives him the pot and asks him to put it on his head, and go to the well. Pradhyumna is not happy, and accuses him of insulting his capabilities. Krishna asks him to go ahead, and Pradhyumna puts the pot on his head and walks towards the well, but on the way, the pot falls and breaks, and Krishna has a good laugh. Pradhyumna is not amused, and tells him that he was unfamiliar w/ that path. Krishna gives him another pot and asks him to try again. Pradhyumna does, and this time, manages to walk right up to the well. He fills it up, puts it on his head, but while returning, the pot of water falls on the ground, and Krishna again has a good laugh @ his expense 😆 He then invited Pradhyumna to concede, but Pradhyumna was by now more determined to succeed in this attempt.
After a few attempts, Pradhyumna succeeds, and claims that he's no longer inferior to Leela. In response, Krishna blindfolds Pradhyumna and asks him to repeat the exercise. Pradhyumna refuses, saying it's impossible. Krishna points out to him that she is blind. Despite her life being filled w/ darkness, she fulfills her responsibilities. He then asks Pradhyumna whether she wasn't really amazing? He tells Pradhyumna that one who thinks of oneself as superior doesn't try learning anything new, and stagnates as a result. But the one who keeps attempting to become superior one day attains one's goals. Since he was more determined to prove himself to his father, Mayasura was a superior warrior to Pradhyumna, despite losing to him. He explains that Pradhyumna has been gifted w/ strength, intelligence, looks, and that it's up to him to honor those qualities rather than just be vain about them. Pradhyumna understood that he'd need to make a lot more effort into them.
Next day, Shambara is seated w/ Mayasura to eat, but decides to wait for Pradhyumna. Pradhyumna joins them, and Shambara praises him for defeating Mayasura & his friends. Pradhyumna describes Mayasura as a superior warrior, who fought him valiantly, and Shambara notes that Pradhyumna has all the qualities of not just a great fighter, but also a great ruler, and decides to feed him w/ his own hands, making Mayasura even more jealous.
Elsewhere, Krishna is playing his flute, and Narada appears b4 him. He asks Krishna about sending him to Shambara's palace: the relationship b/w them is getting even closer. He is concerned that this relationship could disrupt the purpose of Pradhyumna's mission - the slaying of Shambara. Krishna tells him that no act is w/o meaning, and points to the irony of Shambara, who thought himself immortal, is feeding w/ his own hands his future death. Narada praises Krishna for being alone capable of understanding such leelas.
Shambara asks Pradhyumna whether he's ever gone hunting? Pradhyumna tells him that he wished, but everyone told him he was too young. Shambara told him that the hungry wild animals can attack any time, and asks him whether he'd be afraid? Pradhyumna tells him that when he has his sword in hand, fear fears him. 😆 Shambara was pleased and triumphantly turns towards Mayasura, and demonstrates the contrast b/w him & Pradhyumna. Whereas Mayasura would often make excuses of all sorts to avoid going, the real reason was that he's a coward. However, today, he won't hear any excuses, and would go out w/ both of them hunting. In his place, Krishna smiles @ this turn of events.
Comments: Putting aside that this is all fiction...
I feel for Mayasura - I really do. Shambara is the father of the year. Everything a parent is recommended not to do - belittle his kids in comparison to others, he does precisely that. Poor Mayasura doesn't experience even an iota of love. I don't blame him for hating Pradhyumna. I wonder whether the CVs intend to have him succeed Shambara and be a peaceloving king, or have him killed at some point by Pradhyumna. I sure wish it's the former. In the original story, no mention is made of what happened to Shambara's kingdom.
The Leela episode of balancing the pots - seemed like an echo of the original Karate Kid movies, where Danny is advised on how to wipe a windshield. Here, Pradhyumna makes several attempts to balance the pot, b4 learning that Leela was blind.
