The new track, which started abruptly last Thursday, featured Jambavati going on a tour in her palanquin, and seeing the distressed conditions in which people lived 🤢 (itself a major howler). During that journey, her procession accidentally bumped into a girl who was carrying firewood she had gathered, knocking them off her. Jambavati apologized to her on behalf of her men, and helped get those sticks back on her head. She found out that Lata's parents were blind, which is why she was a child laborer. Later back @ Krishna's place, they turned on Lata's channel.
To summarize events upto now, Lata worked in the home of a merchant who himself was quite virtuous, but ineffective, and his wife & daughter were tyrants. The wife would beat Lata w/ a cane, and the daughter would ransack the kitchen, or soil the newly washed clothes, and then point that out to her mom, and gloat while Lata got punished 😡
In Tuesday's episode, Lata is finally done by evening, but the daughter soils all the laundry, and she's forced to work there until night. While going home, she is frightened, and so Krishna appears b4 her and convinces her not to be fearful. She gets home, cooks for her parents and fills their palm leafs, but has nothing for herself. However, she lies and tells them that she's eaten well. Her mother, suspecting her, sends her to fetch water, and then feels her plate, and finds nothing there. That was where it ends.
The track being fiction, one has no comments on it as such, except that
- In Krishna's Dwarka, everybody was prosperous and self-sufficient, which is what led to their arrogance and fratricide later on. Jambavati probably was doing a tour of the kingdom itself rather than others, and so to show the denizens of Dwarka living in pitiable conditions shows that the serial has no idea about how Krishna managed the kingdom
- The girl in this story is a mahaan right out of the saas bahu soaps - takes all sorts of abuse from her overlords, and lies about it to her parents. However, her mother seems on to something. That said, the abuse they're showing her masters do is incredible: in the real Dwarka, there is no way it would have been tolerated
- Krishna's character - this serial makes him look like the ultimate sadist - just watching the abuse of Lata and passing commentary. Only thing he does for her is make her bhog offerings disappear. The same tired track they did w/ Sudama, after butchering the character, is now being done w/ a fictitious girl. If Krishna thinks that the malkin's family is corrupt, why doesn't he use his magic in fouling up some things for her and her daughter. And the malkin is so unbelievably obese, and always eating.
- Rukmini & Pradhyumna are gone again. So is Satyabhama.
Honestly, each track - except the Pradhyumna track - is worse than the previous.
