~||PROLOGUE||~

I looked at her. But couldn't find the old 'her'. She was someone else;whom I didn't know. Who was completely unknown to me. Everything was the same except that she was all silent-silent like a dead body. I craved for her to smile, to laugh, to talk, to make me irritated with her continuous rubbish words.

But there she was sitting like a statue made of stone and she wouldn't move even a bit. Strange wasn't the appropriate word to describe- I guess awful will be the right word. Cause the girl who used to blow life into others was herself lifeless now. And it pierced my heart

and I literally couldn't bear the intolerable pain.

And the worst part was that I was responsible for her state. Yes, the truth is I am the one who forced her to get lost in the darkness. She wanted to spread light everywhere and she tried to enlighten my life, enlighten me and change my aspects. She was the one who tried to break the walls that I had put around myself for so long. She tried to break them and have a peek of what she thought I truly was. She believed that I was a good person, in fact she thought me to be great like a God. And that's what made me loathe her-cause I believed I was the worst person possible and I believed it was the only truth of my life and I wanted her to believe that. But she wouldn't and she was adamant that she will bring out the decent man she had seen in me one day. That's what she believed. I warned her- that she will someday loose her own light in my darkness if she tries to enlighten my world. But as always she didn't pay any heed to my words.

I tried to push her away from myself. But she would always stick to me like super glue. Sometimes I used to think how can a person be such a callous. I didn't leave a single chance to insult her or taunt her. But she had never taunted me back. She just returned her ever so sweet smile which sometimes compelled me to break my fake anger and smile back unknowingly.

I wanted her to leave;to go away, far away from me. I didn't care where, I didn't even care if she burnt in hell-at least that's what I believed back then. And even if the thought of caring about her sometimes crept up in my mind; I had tried to shove them off.

But I accept now that I do care for her- I always have. And I want her to myself,only her. I accept that I love her. That I had somehow fallen in love with her deeply. But when I realised her importance in my life, it was too late. I found her but lost the real 'her'. She wasn't the same anymore. My angel who made me alive, who enlightened my world wasn't the one anymore I used to know once. She was nothing but a living dead body-lifeless,lost in the darkness forever. She doesn't feel anything,she doesn't react to anything. It seems as if her whole body is paralysed. She is numb-all numb. But if I look at her deeply, I realise that she is not numb-my angel is dead inside.

||BROKEN||

||CHAPTER 1||

||RAIN||

"Damn the rain!" Arjun cursed in a low voice as he made his way to the blue sedan. He sighed as he closed the car door "Finally! Thank God." Suddenly his cellphone started ringing and he stretched his hand to fetch it. He made his usual irked expression as he saw the name flashing on the screen. "Damn this girl!" Arjun kept the phone aside as he started the car "Jinxed woman! No doubt she loves the rain!"

[Flashback]

"What are you doing Radhika? You'll catch cold!"

"Come on sir! This feels so amazing! You should come too. It's a great feeling to enjoy the rain!"

"No thanks Radhika. I have no wish to have fever. I hate this damn thing!"

"Because you haven't felt it yet sir."

"Enough Radhika! Are you coming back or you want me to leave you here alone?"

Radhika made a face as she reached the car

"You know what, I think it would have been better if I left you here cause you already ruined my car!"

"You're so mean sir!"

"What did you just say?"

"Umm nothing. Sorry sir!"

As Arjun finally set his attention in driving, Radhika took a glance of her annoying boss. No doubt he was a handsome angry young man and she liked him that way but sometimes he was way too much annoying. Annoying, egoistic and of course charming! Yes that's true that she couldn't deny the fact that she was attracted to her 'rude' boss. Though he tried hard to show that he was hard like a stone and had nothing called a heart and so he couldn't love anyone ever but Radhika knew that deep inside resided a gentle,kind and loving man and he had a golden heart. The goodness he had hidden within him- she tried her best to bring that out. She tried and failed- time to time but never gave up. She knew he had put shields around him to hide his goodness and to let the demons take him over. She tried to break those walls of darkness and fill his life with light. She could tell that Arjun was annoyed by her attempts but she didn't pay any heed to him. Yes, she was nothing to him- there was no relation between them- nothing personal only professional. But still she didn't know why she cared so damn much for this 'egoistic' man. Everything was simple- he was her boss and he left no stone unturned to make things difficult for her at work. But that didn't stop her from doing what she wanted to do- it inspired her further that she was taking the right path. Arjun was insecure of the exposure of his goodness. And that insecurity and tension reached a higher level with the time passing by. And Radhika was sure that her destination was near.

As Arjun parked the car in front of her house Radhika hurriedly tried to get free from the seat belt. She was now cold and was regretting the idea of getting wet in the rain as the air conditioner made her shiver. As she struggled with the belt Arjun nodded his head in disappointment

"Can't you even act a bit smart Radhika? What are you doing? Stop!"

Arjun roughly caught hold of the belt and untied it

"There you go Miss trouble! Problem solved!"

Radhika made a puppy face which irritated him further

"God! grow up Radhika! Don't start crying please! I didn't say anything that you have to cry!"

"I'm sorry sir."

Radhika decided to keep silent and just get inside her home. As she walked through the lawn passing the car; she tried to look at Arjun for one last time- checking if he still had that disturbed expression on his face.

As Radhika diverted her attention to Arjun, she suddenly tripped over a stone and fell on the ground. Arjun turned towards the direction he heard a scream from and sighed "This damn girl!"

He got out of his car with a jerk and reaching upto Radhika, pulled her up grabbing her arm

"Can you at least watch when you walk?"

Radhika had enough and suddenly she couldn't hold herself and she started weeping like a child

"Radhika, Radhika stop crying ok?"

As he saw her sobbing badly he somehow let the barrier down and with hesitation, he held her shoulders lightly

"Look Radhika I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. Please don't cry."

Arjun got a thousand volt shock when Radhika hugged him tightly and cried her heart out. He stood still neither moving an inch nor hugging her back. When she finally stopped crying and realised what she was doing she left him with a jerk

"I am sorry sir. Thanks for the lift and good night."

She literally ran inside her house and shut the front door with a loud sound while Arjun composed himself and walked to his car.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

Arjun's chain of thoughts came to an end as he reached his destination- Mehra Enterprises and holdings Inc.

[PRESENT]

"Radhika, see! rain!"

Arjun held her hand up and stretched it further. The rain drops touched their hands and Arjun looked at his wife with a smile. He tried to find the slightest effect on her face but nothing- there was nothing. Still that blank look, pale face and no expression- lifeless.

"Radhika, feel the rain! Feel it sweetheart please..."

Arjun pleaded in a broken voice as tears brimmed in his eyes. Endless pain it was to see her like that. She was a different Radhika who didn't talk,didn't smile and she didn't like the rain anymore. Arjun looked up at the sky

"Please give me strength and patience. Enough strength to bring my Radhika back and enough patience to not break down. Please give me my old Radhika back please."
