As an aside, I wanted to know how old is the character Damini. Given that Shaurya is 25 and Urmi matbe 48, Damini must be at least 65. But somehow she looks glamorous and in her thirties to me !!!!

Nice post Anila and totally in sync with mine. It's the mothers who should teach their sins to respect women. Like I said, it's women like Diya's mom and Damini and friends; prime example why things are the way they are!!!

Very well written Namita.

I agree with you. The world may be moving forward but our mentality is still stagnant as it was in the olden days of Ram and Seeta...

Even then Seeta had to give Agni pariksha...that too I think because of a dhobi (please correct me if I'm wrong)

But however much we may want to change this thought process we can't do it unless it's a consorted effort by all...the most important thing is education...an educated population will not think along those lines...

Moreover they slur a woman's name after a rape but what about the man responsible for it? Why doesn't anyone tell him anything...

I know we are fighting a losing battle...some things can never change. But if we all try to create awareness of these things then maybe a time will come when incidents of rape will lessen.

Above all our legal system should take this as a serious offence...

Exactly my point Mehek. No one ever demoralizes the rapists. They should be told they will never be fathers, husbands or brothers. They should be made to realize how disgusting their behaviour was. But we never see it happening!!! How is he able to live with his head held high, yet the women he victimized is made to suffer. Where is the Justice and fairness in all this. It's such a sad state of affairs.

High time every girl should be Todays Diya and question the society, law who are unfair.

Well said Vids. Yep, what will Damini do!! I don't her character at all. Her thoughts are disgusting and rude.

Excellent post Namz and lovely analyses too by everyone. Anila too gr8 post.
It is important for everyone to understand the root cause of the issue. Everyone here has spoken in unison the cause being the way kids are brought up. I completely agree with this.

Your kids ( Boy or a Girl) should be taught that both are equals. There is nothing reserved for a Boy or a Girl. For ex- A boy has to study well, do good in sports and achieve heights and success in life. But a girl has to be sober, simple, study and become a good home maker.

God did not give any exclusive rights to any gender when he created Adam and Eve, so who gave any human the right to decide which gender does what? How is one supposed to behave, dress etc etc.

Its we humans or must i say the older generation who had decided norms for us and it is upon us the new generation to create our own norms which is free from such unhealthy perceptions/norms.

In the show, Damini is introduced to show the regressive mentality of some women. So far so good. But her husband, though he goes to the Court, helps the hapless Diya, has no guts to slap his wife. All he can say is a supine warning, which does not befit a honcho like him, who knows to manage a financial empire.

Now a days, there is a paralell story going on the News Cjhannels, where a girl child, is the victim of her own mother, who might have had bad experiences herself at the age of 16. Not everything is divulged, But incidents like incest, sodomy and all unnatural sexual habits are being copied from the West, and our great Nation under the able management of a strict orthodox party, as no qualms.

What can the CVs do, but to copy the society as it is infront of them whom they watch at close quarters.

You're right..
A woman should teach her son to respect other women because if he doesn't at least do that, then she can forget about respect from a so called son..

People do this crime w/o feeling they'll be caught..What Dia did was needed and she should be supported for that... and the rest, you guys have said it.
