TWENTY FIVE

'antara' a voice called out to her, it was one of her colleagues Antara moved back from Raghu and walked up to her colleague 'how long are you planning to stay for tonight, me and some of the others have asked to stay on until morning' 'ummm I still have a bit to do on this painting but I won't stay that long, may be until about 2' 'ok, but then how will you get home?' 'Don't worry I will sort something out, you guys go ahead I'll meet with you later' with that Antara turned back to face Raghu they both looked at each other with little smiles breaking their lips.

'raghu, I really have a lot to get through, I..I' Antara started to lose her words but Raghu knew what she was trying to say. 'It's ok Antara, I won't take up any more time, I'll see you at two' Antara looked at him puzzled 'what...you think I was going to let you go home on your own at that hour' he laughed walking up to her as he stood in front of her he held her face with both hand and placed a soft kiss on her forehead 'there is still a lot we need to talk about but for now this is your priority, I will come back to pick you up' Antara's heart picked up pace a little she was still a dazed by what had just transpired 'you don't have to...I mean come to pick me up, it will be so late I will sort something out' she tried to convince him but she knew Raghu was not going to budge 'I'll see you at two' and with that he left leaving Antara standing there in total disarray. She didn't know what to do, should she jump up and scream she felt like she was going to explode with the magnitude of emotions that were overtaking her simultaneously.

Antara threw herself into her work, she had never felt so light like a big weight had been lifted of her shoulders, she still couldn't believe that Raghu had feelings for her who would ever have guessed that the monster she once tried to avoid like the plague was someone she was going to fall in love with...wait did she just say love? Did she love him? Was this love that she felt?

It was nearly half one Antara had managed to finish another one of her master pieces, she stood back to admire her work, she was content she knew she had put in 100% if not more into this painting. 'Two down two to go' she thought to herself as she packed up her things she heard her phone vibrate it was a message from Raghu

Antara couldn't help smiling, so much had happened in such a short period of time, there was no logic, but then again when it came to matters of the heart was logic needed?

Antara made her way to the front of the academy she wore the jacket Raghu had given her earlier she pulled the sides up to her face and she inhaled his scent it was heavenly. It wasn't long before she saw his SUV pull in to the gates. She walked up to him and sat in the car 'thank you so much for doing this' he gave her the most beautiful smile 'it's my pleasure'. They didn't talk much during their journey they just kept giving each other heart felt glances making Antara blush the deepest shade of red.

When they finally arrived Raghu cut the engine and turned towards her 'are you ok' he asked Antara looked at him and nodded 'yes just tired, will need to get as much sleep as I can get before it all starts again tomorrow'. 'antara...your work...I mean for the exhibition you decided not to work with me...are you ok...I mean..' Antara looked at him and smiled reassuring him that all was ok. 'I should get going...thank you' as Antara was about to turn to Raghu stopped her he moved forward and placed a kiss on her temple making her blush, she wasn't able to speak she just smiled and left.

Antara quickly ate the food her mother had left for her in the kitchen and got ready for bed as she turned to switch her lamp off her phone vibrated

Antara's heart jumped she read and re-read his message a hundred times and every time she did the butterflies in her stomach intensified. Raghunath Naik...the Monstrous, rude, arrogant, sexy, handsome Raghunath Naik had asked her to be his girlfriend, and he cracked a joke; this had to be a dream.

What has been left unsaid can wait until I see you again tomorrow. I will be seeing you won't I? And to answer your question...YES

Of course you will see me, you will see me tomorrow the day after that and the day after that...And Thank You Antara. Sleep well.

Antara hugged her phone and smiled to herself before she hit her pillow and fell asleep.

Rukku was frantically getting ready she had just one day left before her big day. Geeta had been on her back about packing her belongings to send over to RM before the wedding. 'mummy please stop stressing me out, I'm on it...antara...antara' rukku was going from one room to the other like a mad woman Antara managed to catch up with her, she took her by her shoulder and stopped her 'Calm down rukku, you will end up having a nervous breakdown...and before you ask yes I have booked you at the spa they are all ready and waiting for you, once you have had all your beauty treatments dad will pick you up and take you to RM for the final run down of tomorrow...and he will also make sure all your stuff is taken there too...now if I have answered all your questions I suggest you go and get ready so we can get going' rukku and Antara started laughing, rukku took in a deep breath 'Thank you Antara...what would I do without you'. Rukku knew she didn't have anything to worry about when it came to being organised or logistics Antara was always on top of everything but her nerves were getting the better of her.

Antara finished everything she could and ran to catch the bus, she needed to get a lot done as for the next two days she would not be attending the Academy. Antara was completely engrossed in her work so much so that she missed lunch it was now coming up to 6.30 in the evening and she was nowhere near finished, it would easily take another few hours before she got to where she needed to be. Antara's phone had been buzzing but as she was so caught up she hadn't bothered to check her phone. 'antara why you not answering your phone' a voice called out from behind her, it was Sahil 'huh...what' Antara said a little disorientated, Sahil walked up to her he picked up her phone and handed it to her 'I have called you so many times, do you know how worried I was thinking god knows what' Antara took the phone and apologised she explained what she had been doing and how much more she needed to do. 'antara me and Sara are going to be around until late so if you need anything give me a shout, and please answer your phone' Sahil left Antara staring at her phone.

'oh god...he is going to go mad...shit..shit' Antara saw she had three missed calls from Raghu and 5 text messages:

1. Hi hope you are well, can we meet for lunch?

2. Hey where are you? are we ok for lunch

3. Antara you are not answering your phone are you ok

4. ANTARA what's going on you are not replying is everything ok, I am getting worried

5. Is it something I have said or done? Why are you not replying? Fine...I know rukku is popping by in the evening so I will see you then. By the way I am not impressed!

'oh god, he is angry with me...antara, what is wrong with you... you dumb woman why didn't you answer your damn phone' Antara was annoyed with herself she blabbered on as she dialed Raghu's number. 'Come on pick up...pick up...damn it's gone to voice mail' Antara took in a big breath before she rambled the longest most confusing message ever.

Raghu was sitting with his family but clearly paid no interest to what was going on he was still worried about Antara and annoyed that she had not responded once. He wanted to ask rukku about her whereabouts but refrained as he didn't want anyone thinking anything outside the box. It was only then Naani asked rukku herself 'rukku, what time is Antara finishing it would have been nice for her to be here, she always brings so much fun' 'Naani she is staying back really late, she wanted to make sure she made up the work that she will miss for the next few days, I did try calling her but knowing her she is so engrossed she won't have realised' As rukku spoke Raghu drew a sigh of relief, so she was at the Academy. Raghu rushed upstairs to pick up his phone and key when he saw the light flashing. His eyes widened as he saw Antara's missed call and a voice message.

Hello Raghu...I am so sorry I didn't realise you had been calling and I only just saw your messages, oh god...I totally lost track of time...I know you think I am so stupid, I am sorry, I'll make sure it won't happen again. I know rukku is there with you guys but I can't come I am sorry Raghu I have so much to do in such little time, looks like another long night for me...I promise to make it up to you...Please call me when you get this message'

Raghu couldn't help laughing at Antara's message she sounded like a child so innocent 'this girl is absolutely crazy' he thought to himself as he left to go and see her. Antara kept looking at her phone in the hope that Raghu may have replied but there was no joy, she was becoming disgruntled and felt demotivated but she had to carry on. 'Shall I call him again?...No ten more minutes and if he hasn't replied or called I'll call him' Antara carried on talking to herself debating whether to call him or not she was so caught up in her thoughts she was oblivious to the tall figure that was standing behind her.

Raghu stood there admiring Antara for a good few minutes before he walked up to her slowly and as he reached her he covered her eyes with his hands and pulled her slightly so she leaned on him. Antara let out a gasp and quickly put her hands over his, Raghu leaned in towards her ear she could feel his warm breath making her go weak at the knees, she leaned in further to support herself. 'So Miss Kaul, what will you do to make it up to me, you made me wait the whole day and you made me worry...so tell me how are you going to fullfill your promise' Raghu's voice had never sounded so seductive every word accelerated Antara's heart that much more with his one hand still covering her eyes he moved his left hand down her arms stroking her soft skin setting it ablaze and then slowly around her waist.

Antara pulled Raghu's hand down to uncover her eyed and slowly turned around placing both her hands on his chest. Raghu kept hold of her he looked deep into her eyes totally hypnotized. Antara could feel her cheeks change colour, as she tried to pull herself back Raghu just pulled her closer 'Well...I'm waiting...how will you make it up to me' Antara's cheeks were blushing a deep red now she smiled at him nervously 'I ...I' she started to speak 'I ..I what Antara' Antara felt like she was going to pass out her heart was beating hard, Raghu's proximity and scent was blowing her mind all she wanted to do was embrace him further. Antara managed to pull herself away from Raghu but continued to meet his burning gaze, what was she going to do? After all she had promised that she would make it up to him. Without thinking further Antara closed the gap between them once again, she lifted her hand to cup his cheek and as she did she bent her face to place a soft kiss on his right cheek. As soon as she did she saw Raghu smiled the sweetest smile, feeling even more embarrassed Antara turned around and ran to the other side of the room.

The way Antara was breathing she was close to hyperventilating, she heard Raghu come up behind her he placed his hand on her shoulder and made her turn to face him he lifter her face gently so she would make eye contact and as she did she crushed herself into his arms. They could have been standing there for the longest time who knows they were totally lost in each other. It was the ring of Raghu's phone that brought them back. 'Yes Shruti, no I had something urgent to attend to...' Antara walked back to her work area leaving Raghu to continue his conversation with shruti.

'Um..antara' Raghu said as he walked towards her how much more have you got to do? I mean if it isn't long then I can drive you back to my place or home' Antara smiled 'I have quite a bit to do I think it will be another long night but what you can do Mr Raghunath Naik is take me somewhere to eat, I am starving, I haven't eaten all day' Antara looked at him with mushy eyes 'antara...seriously can you not even take out 5 minutes to eat, what if you had fallen ill' Raghu sounded a little more serious now 'ok..ok promise not to do it again can we go...pleeeaaase' she said grabbing his arm and pulling him towards the door.

As they walked to the car Antara saw Sara and Sahil. Both were surprised to see her with Raghu 'what the hell is she doing with him, I thought she hated him...actually what is he doing here?' Sara asked quietly as they walked up to them. 'Hi guys, Raghu, a nice surprise, you come to check on our work?' Sara asked jokingly Raghu just smiled in response 'Um Raghu was passing by rukku wanted him to pick me up but I still have a lot to do' Antara tried to lie convincingly but Sahil could see straight through her not being able to hold back his little smirk 'of course, so where you guys headed now' oh I was just walking Raghu back to his car' Raghu looked at Antara she was lying so confidently. As Sara and Sahil departed Raghu stood still looking at Antara in amazement 'What' she said shrugging her shoulders Raghu laughed 'nothing, I just didn't know you were such a good liar' 'Not funny Raghu, I am not a liar and I don't like lying, do you know how bad I felt' 'then why didn't you just tell them the truth' Antara looked at Raghu 'the...the truth...I...what would I have said' she stuttered. Raghu walked up to her and took her hand 'if you didn't want to tell them who I am to you then all you could have said that you are going to get something to eat with me...simple' Antara felt a lump in her throat 'who you are to me...I..I don't...' Raghu realised that even though he had asked her to be his girlfriend they had never had a face to face conversation about it - it was time - it was time to give this relationship a name a recognition, one that they would both be comfortable with and proud of if they were going to be together it had to be in front of everyone.
