hi, i am shia. i and would like to tell you what happened on the month of muhrram. to all my friends here.
the month of muharram is the being of the year, it was considered a month where there no battles will took pace, no blood shed would take place because it was a starting of the year. unfortunaly afew years laterafter the death of the Prophet Muhammad. his grandson Hussain( Ali son of Abu Talib) , was forced out of his city, just becuase he did not agree with the ruler of that time who names was Yazid. Yazid was a man who did not respect women, drinking and gambling was his routine. and bloodshed was like his sleep. in all ways this man cruel ruler, who caused injustice to both muslims and non muslims. long story short. Hussain and his family ( including the women ) was forced into a dessert area, named Nanava( Karbala iraq). he arrived at this land on the first day of Muharram, he stayed for 10 day. on the 7th day he was denied water. and the 10 th day battle happened in which none in history ever happened. all of Hussain family member and companions were killed in such away that that if you hear it, the hair on arms will stand.

yazid forces didn't stop there, they took the head of Hussain and his family put them on spires and prided his women and children , through the streets. they were prisioned and wiped. imagine the theses muslims wiped the women of the household of Prophet Muhammad

this my friends what happen on the month of Muharram. when you hear the poems nd cries on the street this month, this is the man that they are greiving about. this man saved Islam, and stood up for justice. in fact this man message still lives after 1400 years. and will continue to live.

our great Gandi even knew about Hussain. in which he says

I learned from Hussain how to be wronged and be a winner, I learnt from Hussain how to attain victory while being oppressed."

this why muslims don't celebrate their New years, instead they ponder over Hussain story and learn lesson form him and his sacrificed that he gave to the whole of humanity

Thanks for commenting and sharing Shia's part of Karbala war.
We all love Husain and respect him. But many muslims aren't mouring for his death after more than 1000 years. So we can celebrate Hidjra coz it started the spreading of Islam , and we can feel happy that Allah gave Musa ( Alaihissalam ) the victory. And showed Muhammad ( salla Allahu alaihi wasallam ) that victory is not far away. Instead of crying.
We muslims are happy obeying Muhammad ( salla Allahu alihi wasallam ) in fasting on Aashura and Tasuaa ( the tenth and the nineth ) of Muharram to show the world that Musa ( alaihissalam) belonges to us more than Jewish.
Yes we are sad that Hussain died on the tenth of Muharram . We love him . But we love Muhammad and obey him. We are not allowed to mourn than 3 days after a person's death , that what Muhammad said.
If we have to mourn for someone's death for more than 1000 years . We would mourn for Muhammad's death coz he is our prophet. But no , he ordered us not to do this for anybody's death. He didn't do it when his own son Ibraheem died . He just said that his eyes are weeping and he felt sad for separating his son.

Happy to know you Farhana. 😊

wish you a happy year.

I hope I can fast on nineth and tenth of Muharram. 😊

Unlike the western new year celebrations , we do a lot of Ibadat insteed of drinking and parting.

I think Indians too celebrate their holy days by alot of prayings. I see that in movies. 😊
