Presenting the 8th Wonder - DABH

Now this was a stand-alone gem of an episode.

Why do the makers of this show take these little detours? Is it to relieve the tedium of the daily grind of a serial that's gone past 500 episodes? It worked for me. Near perfection in 20 minutes. I've been gritting my teeth waiting for this whole childish business with the matkas to end, and here, the CVs themselves made fun of the entire situation and gave me a release valve...Hahahahahah.

And who shot twenty holes in the whole matka story? None other than Suraj and Sandy. It was set up on Friday when Sandy refused Meena's sari saying it was 'dangerous'. What was dangerous? Was it Meena's constant sari Border Border talk? LOC? Today all was revealed. Sandy walks past Meena at her shop and takes food to Suraj. Meena then eavesdrops on a SurYa conversation from behind the sweet boxes. It seems that Sandy believes that wearing Meena's saris causes matkas to break. Sandy cannot risk it with this last matka challenge. Suraj also looks suitably grave and agrees to return the sari Meena brought him. This is where I finally saw that the CVs, Suraj and Sandy all consider this Matka business as one gigantic joke. Which it is, at least for one day. Today. It's only Meena,Bhabo and Emily who have got themselves trapped in some unreal world that doesn't exist. Still, putting that to one side, Neelu Vaghela and Kanica, being the great performers that they are, can pull this off so well. Kanica behind the sweet boxes is vintage Meena.

Suraj, not to be outdone, steps up to play the role of the innocent, but with a twist. Sandy urging him to return the sari asap, and him taking his time. For the first time, not jumping to please, but stopping to grab some food and munching his way out of the dhukan...Sandy grabbing the food,with a touch of irritation. Suraj just giving the sari back without much to say. Meena was feeling the insult and so mission accomplished.

The icing on the cake was the final scene. Set up like everyone seated awaiting the final verdict. It was so tongue in cheek and this is what I love about DABH..they know how to not take things seriously...and God knows...Bhabo's matkas are only important to her. Meena arrives with the saree and presents it to Sandy. Chavi finally lets Meena know how the entire farce played out and she ended up parting with a 7000 Rupee sari for free. Suraj allowed himself a sneaky smile. Babasa was in his element and I was entertained. I can't expect this very often, but when it happens, I hope I don't miss it.

Now from tomorrow back to ... 😳...

oh and yes ^ Bhabo is taking the competition so seriously, she has involved god as well. She needs psych help.

Niru, If it was Jujubi for Sandy yesterday ...why isn't every over dramatised RM problem NOT jujubi for Sandy? It would have saved sandy's image months ago and we can accept that she is IPS material.

Where did she put the half eaten sweet?😲 Oh dear! I was also wondering about the state of Meena's sarees. She handles them with the same hand she was eating with. Sandy could have refused the saree on those grounds alone.
