I think Anjali has always liked Atul from the beginning. Remember the hookah scene where she goes to the patient, see how Dr. Atul is cool and he doesn't smoke or drink, neither do the others. She liked him as a friend, she just got annoyed by the extra fawning, because her feelings were not on the same level as his. They even danced together at New Year's party.
