Why Can't Armaan Move On?

By equating Shilpa with Riddhima, Armaan's taken a big step towards ArSh and he seems to be finally moving on!
This brings me to my main point:
It seems that some people are quite upset with this. Apparently Armaan cannot move on, or else his character is butchered. Oh my really? Why oh why can't Armaan move on? Why can't he be happy and in love with someone else when his past has moved on? Is he supposed to become a devdas for life? The guy is what in his late 20s, and people expect him to dwell in Riddhima's memories for the rest of his life like some crazy old psychiatric patient. And if he doesn't then that means his character is butchered. Oh wow it is? Fans know more about Armaan and his personality than the show's CVs it seems.
What's even more annoying is that so called Armaan fans think he shouldn't. It seems for these fans Armaan should either become a devdas, a psychiatric patient, or a monk in some far off land.

Everyone deserves happiness and love in life, then why should Armaan be any different? He didn't get it with Riddhima, so why can't he get it with Shilpa?

I totally agree with seert.
Armaan comapring Shilpa and Riddhima is indeed a big step for ArSh.
Finally , Armaan has started thinking about Shilpa.
He seems to be moving on.

I do not think like other fans.Everyone has their own opinion and we respect it.
I agree with you in this matter.My pov is that there's no harm if Armaan is moving forward in life or developing feelings for some one else.It is not called as his character is butchered.
Armaan is a human too and he has full right to live up his life to his expectations and likes.He lost Riddhima his love.He is heart-broken but cannot remain like that the whole life.He needs a gal.A gal who would change his life completely and that girl is none other than Shilpa.

So Armaan moving on for me does not mean 'His character is been butchered'.
Infact,I think the story is shaping smoothly.

i really don't get why cant,does he need to be alone a life time or want a happily married girl who is moved on to come back to him n they continue their love story from where it stopped,as if that wont butcher armaan's character,truly can u ever think of armaan doing some thing like that breaking a marriage for his happiness,for me never,pankit aka atul in an audio interview said that what he riddhima to do then he is like as an indian audience i want riddhima to be with sid even she decided to be with armaan(which happily didn't happen),armaan is not the character who breaks the marriage for his sake,he himself help them,thank god that what happen though he is bearing pain he don't want it for others now its time for some one to remove his pain,he done enough of giving love and now its his time to take n respond to it,the love is from shilpa
oh n i loved how all flash backs of riddhima is replaced by shilpa,every precious moment for him is now bonded with shilpa whom he considered no one,how he him self giving a chance to get love again
last 2 days is bilss full shock for me,this is the 3rd time armaan thinking of shilpa before its in locker room but u can clearly find difference betn the way of thinking in both ones
also the funny part they showed jungle flash back n shilpa as riddhima is in there gave me some sort of stupid grin to my face..lol

@Nikita: I very much agree that these 8 days are a day for him to do some thinking about his future. He needs to realize that Riddhima is his past and now he must move on with Shilpa. I just hope his character doesn't regress during this absence.
Yes one must deal with the past full on, instead of running away from it or constantly thinking about it like some dream.
SR marriage wasn't one of love but slowly they began to accept each other and fell in love. ArSh I feel will be different, and their marriage will occur after love.

Armaan thought about Shilpa and definitely in a NOT friendly manner, in fact he equated her with Riddhima. And Riddhima is the woman he loves so this is a big step for ArSh.
You're so right that Armaan and Riddhima are very lucky to have a second chance at love, because not everyone gets that chance in life. Armaan has suffered for far too long, and it's time he grabbed this opportunity with both hands.

Armaan is definitely moving on, I don't have any doubts about it. Of course everyone has their opinions, but come on life is about second chances. Also in a relationship there are 2 people, if Riddhima is with someone else, then should Armaan be a Devdas forever? No.
As you said it's not character butchering but Armaan doing what is realistic. And more than anything else, Shilpa understands Armaan and his pain. She will be his healer.

Oh Armaan is moving on and that's because he deserves too. He has been in so much pain since September 2009, and Shilpa is the one who can heal those past wounds. He definitely gave alot of love in his relationship with Riddhima and now he deserves to be loved back with the same love and passion.
You're right that him thinking about Shilpa gas been the highlight for me. Plus he equated Shilpa and Riddhima which is a big thing...soon Shilpa will replace Riddhima in his heart forever.

Agree.Life is about second chances.Even I am saying the same thing.
First love is perfect till you meet your second love.
I really do not want Armaan to be devdas and want him to move on and yes , he is trying his best to move on.
Shilpa would heal his wounds of love.😊

Bang on Seert! why cant he... everyone has der part of happiness..he cnt be stuck in da past... i was jus thinkin of KKHH wer SRK's dialoue was "hum ek bar jeete hai, ek bar marte hai, ek bar pyar hota hai aur shaadi bhi ek bar hota hai" but was he not proved wrong... he felt love again...

Armaan can most definately move on.. moving on doesnt mean forgetting the past.. he's keeping the memories and moving ahead in life...

@Tiha: OMG yes! KKHH! I mean it is considered one of the big romantic movies, and didn't everyone love Rahul? Was Rahul's character butchered because he loved Kajol? And people can't deny that he loved them both. His was a perfect example of moving on and finding love and happiness again.

Yup people do think moving on in a crime, but I also know that Armaan will have a much easier time moving on than Riddhima. We both know the reason why AND I have been saying that reason even while I was an AR fan...so don't call me a liar or a hypocrite.

Haww me a liar and a hypocrite? I knew I shouldn't have befriended someone from the evil side ;)

I don't know if it will be a cakewalk, some fans are really angry and frustrated because they care about their "couple".
And yes we know the reason: it's always actors above characters!
