okay, so I'm going to be the devil's advocate here. just for the sake of arguement, even if we do accept that R still loves armaan and no matter what, her heart will always lie with him - is it possible for A & R to simply go back to being together again? is it so simple?
we're looking at the present scenario in such a grey light - with ArSh being the painful story and SR reflecting the uneven face of the contemporary marriage. but why are we still vieweing AR in a white light? are they so perfect that despite and inspite of all issues, given a chance, they'd jump back together without any qualms?
don't we all wish relationships were so simple?
my personal POV is, all said and done, even if A & R are given a chance, they won't be able to rekindle their relationship now. too much has happened. since the time that they've not been together, both have gone through different experiences, different situations. for armaan, this has been the hardest time of his life - will he be able to forget all the pain that this relationship gave to him? I feel he's become so closed and so numb as a person that even if ridhima came running into his arms, he won't be able to give her any love. and ridhima has been married, that's a different experience altogether. will she be able to erase sid from her memory? what about the feelings that had started blossoming within her, towards sid? her relationship with sid has changed her as a person, as a woman. she's no longer the ridhima that was armaan's girlfriend. I'm not saying that this change has been for the good, or for the bad, for that matter - but it's a change. and once a change happens, it's not so easy to retrace your steps back to when you started out from.
so basically, my point is that A & R have gone through too many changes to be able to rekindle their relationship once again. too much has happened, between them and around them. what AR fans might claim to be 'love' might just be 'nostalgia' and a human inability to let go of the memories that you once cherished and kept so close to your heart. yes, it is difficult for ridhima to see some other girl with armaan, simply for the reason that she's not used to seeing anyone else with him. it takes time to let go of any habit, and slowly and steadily ridhima will come to terms with the fact that armaan can go out with someone else too. I think even though she has moved on, she always had a certain expectation that armaan will somehow always love her. it's a very humane reaction - you want someone to continue to love you even though you yourself might not love him/her back.
