December 11th, 2009: Atul: Dr. Atul Joshi, an Intern No More!

My thoughts on a short yet sweet part of today's episode...

I haven't been able to keep up with DMG for the last few days, but it hardly mattered today! All I wanted to see was Atul coming back from Delhi with good news for all of us, and he did!

I really, really loved the little scene in Dr. Kirti's cabin. The pride and happiness in her voice and smile is so clear when she congratulates Atul on becoming a doctor...She has seen Atul mature over the years, and it is so touching that she is so proud of him! 😊

Atul doesn't say anything except for "Thank you, ma'am" at the very end, but the peaceful smile on his face when Kirti hands him his visiting cards reveals more than words ever could.

I'm sure we would have had an even more emotional moment if Atul had walked away from Kirti's cabin without being ambushed by the interns, but the Atul-interns (and Jiggy) scene was very cute, too!

I found it quite funny that Naina pushes JP and Jiggy out of the way so that she can congratulate Atul (haha, she's so cute!) and that JP is already trying to take advantage of Atul's authority by asking him to save him from stool testing! LOL! That reminded me of Atul's rectal examination duty on his first day at Sanjivani. Aww, haha!

"Usse kehna ke thoda jaldi kare...Nahi toh gaadi station se chhoot jaayegi!"

So true...I could be reading into this too much (and I'm probably taking a wrong turn, too) but the first thought that came to mind was not about Sid-"that girl"'s love story. I'm wondering if he's speaking from experience...

Depending on the way you look at Atul's relationship with Anjali, that statement could be a reference that he is making to himself. Of course, only we would know that, if it's true at all. I could just be losing it completely due to the severe effects of Atul-Anjali/PaNa withdrawal, but since there's enough space for interpretation, I'm going to spill out my thoughts anyway.

If Atul is indeed speaking from experience, there are two possible scenarios that he could be referring to:

1. The fact that he has never shied away from expressing his feelings for Anjali and confessing that he loves her more than anything...In this case, his decision to continue loving Anjali even after knowing that she didn't harbor such deep feelings for him ultimately led to her softening towards him and accepting him as a boyfriend. It took Anjali a long time to lower her defenses around Atul, but when she finally realized that his love for her was genuine and limitless, their relationship slowly started to change for the better.

2. There's also a slightly different side to the first one...The only situation I can think of has to do with the fact that Atul didn't have the courage to ask Shashank for Anjali's hand in marriage. Now she's in the US, and he's not...Maybe if Atul had asked Anjali to marry him, they would have been together in Mumbai today, who knows?

After thinking this through, maybe Atul is referring to both situations...I don't know. We still need more information about Anjali! I feel like I'm stuck in a pitch-black place with no hopes of finding any light...

(No prizes for guessing what I was referring to there...😉)

One last quote for the day:

"Dr. Atul ko duty pe report karna hai...*hands a card to JP* Call me, hmm?"

Awwwwwww! I can't believe that I'm falling completely in love with this attitude of his. It's just the right balance of coolness and sweetness. *sigh*

Anjali needs to come back. Now.

Oh my gosh, I COMPLETELY forgot about today's date! December 11th!

December 11th, 2007: Atul, Anjali, and Rucha...

That was a landmark episode for Atul-Anjali, both professionally and personally - "Not bad, Champ! *Anjali gives Atul an approving look*"

Aww I wish angie comes back yaar! AA were always one of my fav back at the earliest times of dmg1

It would be cool to see AA with the new refined atul!

Even without angie, it would be interesting to see his interaction with the interns! Would he play good doc or bad doc?

its soooo good to hear tht atul returned to DMG. i wish anji too cm bak. bt wt i didnt lyk is atul's title of "champ" is used by sid 4 JP...it seems CVs r taking all the old names to the new ones...its better if they create sm new nik names atleast to gv sm kind of freshness...

24 hours after someone posted that they thought Atul had left, and just in time not only is he back, but as a senior doctor!!!!

What a great time for a post B and I cant think of a better person on this forum to have made this. 👏

VEERU i was expecting a post from you today!!!! In fact I was looking forward to it! OMG OMG OMG OMG! Best scene today! I was sitting there screaming, PB!!!!!!! YAY!!!!! Mere PB finally doctor bann gaye!!!!!! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew that there would be a post from you today. Atul titling to a doctor and not have a congratulating post from you that would spin off on several tangents? No chance! 😆

I loved that little scene today. It was too cute and too sweet. In my opinion, it was way too short for a character as loved as Atul's but at least we got something, ey?

But I wished Anjali was there. I could already imagine how proud she would've been. Hopefully we get another call from her, like we got one on Diwali.

Agreed with the bolded part Jen!!! I knew this was coming!

Yes, it way too short. I think it should have come from Dr. Shashank himself as head of Sanjeevani and I feel they could have had a flashback of Omi, considering he was the real reason Atul became an intern in the first place. but I will take whatever I can get!

Hopefully we do get another call from her. 😳

I was thinking the same thing Trinzie, it would've been more appropriate to have it come from Shashank. There should've been a ceremony as well. Nothing big, just a handing of the official paper, a few claps and the interns talking about throwing a party. Atul deserves that much recognition.

But I still stand by what I said earlier, at least we got that much. And at least Atul's happy.

You know what they say Jens, great minds...... I agree, the ceremony would have been nice with a few flashbacks of when he first walks into Sanjeevani and him with the other interns, and some applause and handing over the paper, but yeah at least we got something. It could have been a one-liner and it wasnt. So good on them for giving Atul his due.

Cant wait to see what Atul does now in his new avatar, as Senior doctor.

Reminds me of a certain Dr. Shubankar who used to remind the TACOS men that "mein senior doctor hoon." 🤣

As in, Dr. Shashank saying "Congratulations Dr. Joshi, I'm proud of you." and Atul saying

"Thank you, Dr. Gupta." Then maybe they could run to the canteen and everyone could crack open a few bottles of chilled organic white grape juice and chow down on cucumber sandwiches made from whole-grain bread. And maybe the canteen can have a big sign that says "Congrats Atul".

Aww Trinzie, that would've been a great scene panned out.

Flashbacks seem like a necessity now - to remind us of Atul's struggle yet fun journey to his doctorship. And to have Shashank personally congratulating him, especially because we know he has never been such a great fan of his. *deep sigh*

Maybe we still can have it? After all this MJHT and DMG crossover is over?

I know. But I like keeping my glass half full.
