Nice Topic!
I used to love this show, and its unique concept of having such a dark-shaded male lead in the character of Viraj. Right from the first epi he draw me in with his twisted mind games, and controlling nature. Originally the way Viraj's character was sketched and executed was nothing short of brilliant; the way he fooled one and all, the way he made Jhanvi constantly second-guess herself, and finally the way he meticulously planned all his schemes was genius.
The CV's were right to show how not all abusive husbands are you stereotypical un-educated and uncouth alcoholic louts. They can be suave, successful and charming men, who wear a suit of sophistication to hide their inner beast.
Also originally I liked how they showed how these men, can convince their spouses that they are guilty party, and that they are the ones who cause their husbands to beat and abuse them. Viraj's mind games were sick, but boy did they work in convincing Jhanvi, that she was the one with the problem, and that she had to change to fit into Viraj's 'perfect world'.
Yet this all so different now, Viraj has slowly been reduced into a shadow of what he used to be. His so freaking dumb and cartoonish, I'm betting even Krish could take him on now, and come up trumps! I wouldn't even mind that scenario, if the path to it was shown logically and not in a haphazard manner.
Sigh the moment Viraj left Manali the show fell to pieces, and in all fairness I quit watching it. I caught fleeting moments of it whilst channel-surfing but nothing in any of the current tracks has made me want to stay tuned in. Viraj now annoys the heck out of me, with his dumb obsession for Jhanvi/Sia, whilst the lady in question has failed utterly in being shown as a realistic DV victim.
And don't even get me started on how badly CV's have butchered Raghav's character...
Suffice to say that IMO, Raghav was ruined for me the moment he fell in love with Sia/Jhanvi. Raghav pre-falling in love was all about making Sia/Jhanvi stronger, and was determined to make her able mentally and physically to fight her own battles. However after falling in love, Raghav has done a complete 180, and has now decided that he will fight all her battles, and stand like a bulwark (regardless if Jhanvi/Sia likes it or not) in front any damn obstacle in her path. Poor guy, little does he realize that he's the biggest hurdle in his original intention of making her independent.
Also I loathe how Viraj was defeated. Ultimately this is a show about DV, and how as a society we should all be made aware of the victim's plight. But also I'm assuming that somewhere along the line CV's wanted to show some form of prevention in DV coming into anyone's life.
For me personally the best way to show that, is by making Viraj realize that he is the failure, and that despite all his attempts at creating the 'perfect' world for him to live in, he himself has destroyed his chance of a 'happily ever after'.
CV's had a golden opportunity in Viraj's character to reach out to men who commit DV, and show how being a 'man' like Viraj will never get you anywhere. Rather than show his defeat at the hands of the heroic Raghav, they need to show Viraj come to the realization that he set fire to his dreams. For me it would have more of a powerful impactful message, if it was shown that Viraj the 'greatest' Dobriyal was urging men to 'NOT TO BE LIKE ME'.
Still that was pipedream of mine gone to the dogs, I just hope this show doesn't follow now...

I agree with you! The only scenes I liked of Viraj was when he was speaking English and talking about manners etc. I found it hilarious and KVB portrayed him so good! The dress ups were a bit...creepy... for a lack of a better word...it wasn't funny as such or scary, it was just creepy.
