Another excitement-filled episode, peeps. Great episode.
Balance, power, character consistency/development, flow, mystery, humor, romance, and emotional drama -- the episode had it all without overdoing it. Fantastic job, cast and crew of SB?. There wasn't a moment to miss.
>> Pros:
1) Gayatri plays the emotional card and Raghav agrees to "re-marriage"
The entire scene had me in splits. For one thing, V cut his finger. And then I just loved the way Gayatri argued her point, leaving no room for buts, and the way that Raghav realized what his mother was up to and tried to talk her out of the re-marriage idea.
Best part was when Gayatri played the emotional card, going "please?" I cracked up. Oh, she knows how to get to her son. That hit the nail on the head and, as we all saw, he had no response that would spare her heartache.
Would like to compliment the actress who portrays Gayatri for her fabulous expressions. I swear, she and Harshad could be related in real life with the way they switch expressions from hard to soft, hot to cold. Plus their chemistry is mindblowing. Also, I noticed the very awesome hand gestures of Harshad, the pinching-the-bridge-of-his-nose, for instance. I'm loving how he's adding so much life to Raghav with small, significant details like these as they're becoming character traits now -- just like his subtle smirking/laughing.
2) Raghav agitated about the "re-marriage" while Sia is surprisingly calm
Hm. Interesting.
Raghav was worried, tensed. Because 1) he's betraying his mother, 2) he's worried about how it's going to hurt her, 3) he's agitated about the mess/trouble and lie-on-lie that's just burying him in crap up to his elbows, and 4) he's feeling bad about the situation that Sia's in, which he again blames himself for.
I also sensed that he was a bit annoyed with Komolika for initiating her genius plan only to abandon them halfway through. Understandably, though. Because now it's all up to them to make sure that they execute things well and succeed. That's a lot of pressure when the person they're dealing with is someone as unpredictable and twisted as V.
I think that they still need Komolika to predict V's moves. But it seems like they'll have to manage without her. Go Team Raghav/Sia.
3) V and his chadi [the connection?]
Okay, something that struck me in this scene was how V called his chadi "baba" as in the word for father. This had me thinking. You see, V always walks around with it as if it gains him some kind of power, control. That the skull symbolizes Death and how V always feels that he can control people's destinies, whether they should die or live.
But now I also think that the chadi connects him to his father. Perhaps it belonged to him?
I observed a certain emotion when he spoke to the chadi, calling it "baba". You see, there was no fear, no hatred. What I observed was admiration. That disturbed me. Is it possible that we've been all wrong about how V hated his father and instead he actually admired him?
It would explain why he treated his mother the same way as his father did.
4) Gayatri shares her thoughts with Komal again
I always love how Gayatri opens up and how Komal reassures her. Another great bonding moment b/w the two close friends. I like how Gayatri tried to rationalize Raghav and Sia's actions while having this deeply disturbed expression on her face.
She knows the answer, deep down. But she's hoping that she's wrong about them.
5) Raghav tries to convince Gayatri of a court marriage instead
Tension was high in this scene. V was all but committing murder with his eyes. Sia wore a dispassionate expression, so I couldn't tell what was going on inside her head. Komal was immensely delighted and excited, which was sweet. Gayatri was suspicious and watching for the "newly wed" couple's reactions, and Raghav was just tense.
It was a complicated situation for all of them.
I liked how Raghav feigned enthusiasm and then tried to sneak in the "how about a court marriage, Mom?" I think that both he and Sia realize that they've dug themselves a deep grave and the only possible way out is if they expose V before the wedding. Even then, it seems that they realize how hurt Gayatri will be.
6) V believes that Raghav/Sia want to get married for real
Nice. He's so confused right now, so frustrated and desperate and beyond control, that he can't even think straight, put things together. It's convincing for his character.
Now he thinks that they faked the marriage to get Raghav out of prison because they both actually want to get married to each other. He's not even thinking logically because every ounce of control has slipped away from him.
Maybe we finally will see his downfall.
7) "Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna" and bathroom romance
I cracked up throughout the entire scene. It was hilarious.
First thing, I loved the shot of Raghav/Sia bathing Krish. Cute. Family like. Next thing, the song confused me until I saw V peeking into the room -- then I was like "oh, NOW I get it!" That was clever, actually. Nothing frustrated V more than listening to Raghav/Sia laughing and saying things that could be taken the wrong way, especially when V had just reached the conclusion that Raghav/Sia want each other.
Fantastic performances in this scene. I was in splits. Especially Raghav's and Sia's smirk when they heard the stereo crash made me grin. Seems like V's getting some of his very own medicine. Great scene.
8) Raghav/Sia cute argument and "meri girlfriend ka phone tha"
Could he have made a stupider argument? [If "stupider" is even a word.] His poor attempt at lying had me laughing so hard that I almost missed the next dialogue. HC is seriously a pro at light humor. The perfect balance in an otherwise serious situation.
First, I loved how he turned around, stalled at seeing Sia right there, and when she asked about the call, he went "nothing". Man, he looked like he had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Hilarious. His walk-away was so Walk of Shame-ish. LOL.
Second, when Sia asked about whose phone it was and he went "my phone, duh", I was like this --> xD That was such a lame attempt at changing the subject. Then came the lie about his girlfriend -- which was so random because just the night before he'd admitted to being in love with Sia -- another unconvincing attempt that cracked me up.
Just loved this entire scene. For one thing, the chemistry between HC/SJ just charges the air, and the arguments that they have are so couple-ish that they make me smile. Enjoyed it immensely. It's this contrast, the arguments as well as the shared moments, that give their relationship spice as well as sweetness. The balance is important.
Sia's "jhoot bole kawa kaate" remark was totally awesome.
Note how Raghav always moves away from her when she glares or is upset with him. It's so funny. Like, "oh, man, she's so mad, save yourself!"
9) Raghav decides to meet up with V
Hm. That was an emotional decision, not a rational one. Raghav was all cool with V right until he threatened his family. I hope he'll be careful.
Best line V: "Mama's boy."
Best line R: "I'm not alone. I'm getting married again -- to the same woman."
10) V "preparing" for the fight and underestimating Raghav again
I'm sorry, I couldn't stop laughing when V was exercising on top of his car. That was way too funny. I loved how Unniyal made the smart comment about whether V was possibly underestimating Raghav again -- which earned him a slap.
V, again, is too sure of himself.
11) Raghav/Sia discuss Gayatri
This is one conversation that I was really grateful for. It was important. For one thing, I'm glad that Raghav mentioned how well he knew his mother, that he knew she was doing this to test them, and that she wouldn't be ashamed/humiliated, but hurt.
You could see the guilt and self-blame on Raghav's face, hear it in his voice.
>> Cons:
1) Raghav/Taashu -- where is the tension?
I'd hoped for a few quick shots of Raghav trying to smile at Taashu and her ignoring him, or something. Just anything to show that the argument between them happened and how they're both still affected by it, being so close.
2) Sia's reaction to the "re-marriage" in private -- where was it?
I seriously didn't understand her reaction. At first I wondered if she was calm because she felt really comfortable with Raghav and his family, and the thought of a real marriage was not that horrible a prospect to her. But then, she's still a victim with psychological injuries. It was a bit out of character for her to not react once she and Raghav were alone. Panic is still her knee-jerk reaction to a pressured/shocking situation that disturbs her.
What did her expression/reaction tonight actually mean?
Short feedback tonight, people. The episode was fantastic. Do watch. Hopefully I'll have much more to analyze tomorrow. What with the BIG FIGHT *excited* Finally, I think we'll get to see V have his face smashed in. I'm gonna let out my frustrations through Raghav's fists xD
