Fourth Os- Scars
She was lounging on couch flipping through Tanisha's designs. Her feet were bare. Her ankle was bothering her so she had elevated her leg on a pillow as she browsed. He must have not noticed her at first. She smiled slightly. His shirt was soaked from sweat. He had been working in the scorching summer heat. He threw his shirt on the couch and it landed at her feet. He turned finally to see her laying there. He frowned.
He looked apologetic for just throwing his things here and there. He grabbed the shirt from there but stopped short seeing something on the back of her feet. He looked at her. She looked back at him puzzled.
"Go freshen up, I'll just go get you something cool to drink," she stammered.
He grabbed her arm.
"Ruko," he stated firmly.
She looked at him apprehensively wondering if she had done something wrong.
"Yeh sab use ne kiya?," he asked upset.
Had he noticed an unfaded scar of her past?
"Kya?," she asked softly.
He had her sit down facing him.
He caressed the back of her feet and looked at her softly. She realized what he had noticed.
"When I tried to run away, I hurt my feet then he burned me there with..," she trailed off.
He cupped her chin and turned her to look at him directly.
"I want to help all your wounds heal. I want you to become strong enough that even the scabs cannot bleed out," he declared.
A few tears escaped her eyes this time. She didn't care that he was sweaty, she simply embraced him with all her might. He held her before he stepped back.
"Guess someone else needs to freshen up along with me," he teased before pulling her along with him. Before she knew it he had pulled her under the shower and both of them were drenched. She regained her composure and nudged him, he simply pulled her back. He ran a hand from her shoulder down to her hand again. She blushed as he give her quick peck on her neck. She found some soap and flung it at him. He squirted some body wash on her.
The couple enjoyed their soap fight. Later they rinsed themselves off. She ran off first to go change and get dry.
Later she was attempting to wear one of Tanisha's creations to see if it would fit one of the models for the fashion show. She was having trouble with the doris. Raghav arrived in the room. He smiled softly. She saw him in the mirror.
He raised his eyebrows as if to ask if she needed help. She merely nodded. He came closer and moved her hair aside. She felt the good kind of goosebumps as she felt his fingers on her skin and his warm breath on her neck.
He looked carefully at her skin. He noticed some marks that were faded, some older than others. He wished he could erase all the bad things that had happened to her. All he wanted was her to be happy. He wished he could erase the scars and fears just like one could rip up thorns and throw them away for good. He helped her finish getting ready.
She smiled at him.
"I'll be back soon. Just going to show Tanisha how the fitting looks," she stated.
He looked her up and down.
"Kya hua?," she inquired.
"It must look strange on me. Don't worry, I'll change soon," she stammered.
He shook his head.
"You look very nice. Just wish I could help you more," he stammered.
She shook her head.
"What are you saying? Everything you do and have done has helped me heal more each day," she assured him.
She kissed his cheek quickly before walking out of the room.
He gazed after her his eyes moistened.
Much later they lay together, side by side on their bed. He would notice a scar and she would tell him how it happened and so forth. In return he would hold her and assure her that someday she would sleep through the night without any nightmares.
He was right. That night Jhanvi Singhania slept without any nightmares. She slept peacefully with her loving husband Raghav Singhania right beside her.
