Second OS

Jhanvi liked having a real family again. She was in the market today. Although in her first marriage and now her second marriage she had married well off men, she always desired to pick out things for herself . In her new life was grateful to have some freedom. However old qualms didn't fade away as quickly as she hoped. Her mother-in-law was going to be home today for dinner. She wanted to select the best vegetables to cook for the meal. She had just told the housekeeper she would be out for a few hours. Krish was at school. Komal had patients to see. Her mother-in-law had a business to oversee along with all her charitable causes. Tashu was at her office in Delhi for the day. Raghav was probably with Sundar working in the garage. When his mother was away he would go to the office otherwise he didn't bother going on the days she was there. Things had mended to an extent but he would never be able to bond with her like he did with the other family members.

She finished picking out what she needed and grabbed a firm hold on her things. She sighed with relief. She would have enough time to pick up Krish from school after dropping the vegetables at the house. She was about to cross the street when suddenly a car stopped in front of her. She jumped back.

The person behind the wheel rolled down the window. It was Sundar. Raghav smacked him.

" Never do that again you fool. What if she got hurt!," Raghav snapped at him.

Sundar grabbed his ear in apology.

"Sorry Jhanvi Bhabhi. Aap theek toh hai na?," he inquired.

She nodded not trying to recall the past.

"Jhanvi have a seat. We'll get Krish and go home. Sundar had to drop this car there anyway," her husband assured her.

She smiled brightly at him and sat down in the back.

Raghav went to get Krish as Jhanvi called for the other car to come get them. Krish and Raghav arrived to meet her. Krish hugged her tightly. He still didn't talk much but he would at times when he had something he wanted to share. She patted his shoulder and indicated for him to go into the car..

Once they reached home, Krish started his homework. Raghav started his accounts and sat with his nephew. Jhanvi and the housekeeper made snacks and chai. Tashu joined them soon after. Jhanvi started cooking.

"Bhabhi it smells good. I just love this subzi!," Tashu declared.

Jhanvi smiled.

"If you want I can teach you when you have free time," she stated.

Tashu smiled.

"I would love to learn. I should have time next week," she stated.

Thinking her sister-in-law was going to leave the room, Jhanvi was surprised to see her analyzing her instead.

"Bhabhi would you model for my traditional clothing line?," Tashu inquired as Jhanvi went over to the table.

Jhanvi exchanged glances with Raghav. She couldn't tell what he was thinking. She turned to frown at her sister-in-law.

"What are you saying? Main kaise'," she trailed off.

Tashu shook her head.

"I needed inspiration. I am sure Bhaiya would never like you to be on the ramp. He would have to beat up a lot of people so they would not stare at you," Tashu clarified.

Jhanvi blushed slightly and ran back into the kitchen.

Raghav gave his sister a stern look.

The dinner was quiet as her mother-in-law had complained of a headache and wanted quiet. Komal ate quickly but assured Jhanvi she loved the food. She had some major appointments coming up the following morning.

Jhanvi was pleased simply with the fact her mother-in-law ate a decent amount. Later when they retired to their rooms. Jhanvi sat down to remove her earrings. One fell on the floor. She reached to grab it but her fingers met his on the ground. She looked up into his eyes and looked back at her.

" Khana bauth accha tha," he stated as he dropped the earring in her hand.

She smiled slightly.

"Thanks," she stated.

She turned to grab a towel and her nightgown.

"You know it's ok if you wanted to help Tashu out," he said softly.

She turned to look at him.

" It would be fun to help her but I don't want to upset you or Maaji," she replied.

He grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to him.

" You never had a chance to care for yourself. I want you to do what you think is right. Actually I want you to think deeply and pick a place you want to see. We'll go there after Tashu's wedding.. In the meantime take a friend and go have a girls day out," he suggested.

"Aap meri itna chinta karte hain. I appreciate it," she said with tears threatening to come out.

He held her by her shoulders.

"Jhanvi I want you to have whatever you deserve and that means a good life. You deserve all the good things. I wish I could erase the past. I can't see you scared and unable to live your life," he declared.

She caressed his cheek.

"Hey because of you I am alive today. We cannot erase those bad memories but let's think about last week. Remember we took Krish out and we did all that masti. You two kept splashing me!," she said.

Raghav smiled.

" You looked like a wet cat. However going boating was a nice idea. We all enjoyed so much that day," Raghav pondered.

"Yes we should plan more outings. However tomorrow I have to go give tutions to some students. We should get some rest. I am sure you have worked hard," she said with a slight smile.

He looked at her intensely realizing she was testing him.

" Jhanvi you are so boring. There is no need to be like this when it's me and you. Maa is strict but doesn't mean you have to be a rule follower," he retorted.

He turned away from her pretending to be annoyed.

She tapped him on the shoulder but he would just shrug her off each time. Finally she sighed.

"Chalo theek hai. I am going to get changed for bed," she quipped.

Before she could get into the washroom, he had grabbed her by the waist and then pinned her down on the bed.

She looked up at him as she caught her breath. He reached down and brushed her hair off her face. Their eyes locked. She reached up and started to stroke the hair on his neck. He leaned over and kissed her forehead and cheeks. Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"What wrong timing!," he muttered as he let her get up. She straightened her dupatta and went over to the door.

"Sorry Bhaiya. I need to borrow Bhabhi for something. I swear it will only be a few minutes,"Tashu declared before pulling Jhanvi with her.

Raghav sighed.

He turned on the television.

She returned about thirty minutes later.

"Sorry woh Krish ko meri madad chaiye thi," she stammered.

Raghav pulled her to lay beside him.

"It's ok. I am just glad you made time for your husband," he retorted.

She smiled and shyly leaned over and kissed his cheek. He looked back at her stunned for a moment. She placed her head on his chest. He wrapped her up against himself.

They soon fell asleep.

new os

Again she had landed in some trouble. However this time she was not even targeted. It was more of landing herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Two goons were fighting in the street and ended up being in the area where they were fighting. Running scared she ended up twisting her ankle.

A frantic crowd was coming near her as she tried to get up. She almost got trambled but then strong arms lifted her from the ground just in time.

She looked up into concerned brown pools. She caught her breath and whispered," Aap?"

"Tum yahaan kaise? I told you so many times no need for you to come alone to these places. Tum toh sunti nahin ho. Ab chalo yahaan se," he hissed.

Her eyes turned downcast and she nodded trying not to grimace because of her pain. He started walking and took a hold of her wrist. She walked with him but had to stop after a few minutes.

He turned to her and then noticed her slight limp. He glanced down to see her ankle seemed swollen. He could not examine it now. He needed to get them both some place safe. She hobbled a few more steps before picked her up in his arms. She looked at him surprised.

He gave her an assuring glance and they headed off into the distance. At home Krish sat besides her as Raghav took off her shoe and examined her ankle.

"It's a sprain all right. Bhabhi will be home soon but I think you should elevate the leg for now. I'll grab some ice for it," he stated.

Krish dutifully grabbed a pillow and indicated for his chachi to lift her leg. He quickly placed it under her leg and she put it down. He came to sit beside her and wiped her tears . She kissed his cheek. Raghav ruffled his hair before giving his wife a considerate look.

Komal arrived to see the threesome huddled on the bed together. Jhanvi sat between them icing her ankle while the boys watched the recent match repeat

"Yeh kya hogaya Jhanvi?," she inquired.

"Bhabhi she twisted her ankle," Raghav stated.

She looked at him sternly.

"I was asking her Raghav. Did something happen to her voice along with her ankle?," she inquired.

Raghav turned red.

Jhanvi smiled slightly.

She quickly explained how Raghav had saved her from harm.

"Wow deverji aap toh bade hero nikale!,"Komal chirped.

Raghav blushed and tried to hide it.

"Bhabhi Raghav had planned a small trip for us. Now we can't go this week," Jhanvi muttered.

"Actually it is not as bad as it looks. You took care right away. You should be fine if you two wanted to go by Saturday,"Komal assured her.

Komal took Krish to go start his homework. Raghav turned to her.

"So you did this on purpose. If you don't want to go it's fine Jhanvi," he assured her.

Jhanvi shook her head.

"Trust me it's hurting me. I didn't want to ruin the trip," she said innocently.

He cupped her chin.

"Hey don't be upset. I was joking. Now you will rest so we can have a great time this weekend. Sirf tum aur main," he said softly.

She smiled slightly. He glanced down at her feet. He saw some faint scars. He had seen them briefly before but now in this moment he got to study the scars of her past. He hoped he could help her heal with his love for her.

Saturday arrived. They awakened early and set out for the farmhouse. The clouds grew heavier as they approached the location. It began to rain heavily.

They were drenched by the time they got their things in the house. Instead od changing into dry clothes she looked lost in thought outside at the heavy rain. With this storm she wanted to wash away her past and begin anew with Raghav, Before he could stop her she was outside embracing the raindrops and then twirling around in the storm.

He followed her and stopped short amazed at the scene before him. The woman he had always seen hiding her pain and running scared, was now relishing a storm.

He could sense she needed to do this for herself and their future.

She felt a tug on her arm and she turned to see Raghav there. She smiled he was her present and he would be her future.

He held her with care, no crude possessiveness nor cruelty. She could sense he loved her. Now she was more than ready to show him the same.

"Let's go inside," he whispered.

She edged closer to him and almost slipped, he caught her in time.

They shared an eyelock.

He lifted her in his arms and took her inside. He kneeled besides the fire pit and started a fire. Once it was started he turned to meet her gaze. He put her foot in his lap and examined it.

"Good you didn't hurt it more. How are you feeling now?," he asked.

"Main theek hoon," she stated.

She reached down and grabbed his collar. He looked at her eyes. She wanted him close to her.

She caressed his cheek and moved in closer. He reached behind her ears and removed her earrings. His touch made her swoon. His love was pure for her. Even the mere touch or look said how much he loved her.

Later they huddled close by the fire. She had stopped quivering. Her head was on his shoulder. He had his arm around her.

She looked up at him and whispered," I love you Raghav."

He smiled down at her and leaned in for a kiss. She met him halfway. A simple confession but it meant the world to him. It showed him she was ready to move on with him. She was starting to heal.
