In English there are 2 words - step (brother or sister) and half (brother or sister). "Step" means both children don't share a common biological parent, while "half" means one parent is biologically common to both. Rishabh and Ritvik are step brothers as they both have different parents. Reeva and Ritvik however, have the same father. Technically Ritvik is more her brother than he is Rishabh's. So it's kinda senseless that she should say he's not her real brother.
This word "sautela" is confusing because it's used to refer to both kinds of siblings - though to me it sound more like "step".Does anyone know if there's a different word?

I think Reeva is Mamta's kid from her previous marriage. So they in actual are step.
Also in Hindi for both half and step only sautela is used :p
