Hello everyone... I am Lazy😛😛... I usually write stories on Madhubala Forum. But since my laptop is not working 100% and I was in the mood to write something, I thought why not write the backstory of Om and Rudy for all the new viewers. As I started watching DBO and I was kind of shocked at the lack of recap of the story for new viewers. (Even though I was bored to death that time, now I truly appreciate the CVs of The Originals for the amount of pain they went to reestablish the backstory and the ins-and outs- of vampires from TVD once again in TO for the new viewers)
So it was very strange that the writers didn't see it necessary to show the backstory. As in how Om became Omkara or how Rumya got married. I guess the CVs took it for granted that all the viewers were aware of the story line of IB. So, here is what I remember for the new viewers.
Characters.
First Generation
Dadi - Very close to her grandchildren. Had a happy life with her late husband. Keeps telling her grandchildren that they all should have takkar ka ishq.
Second Generation
Tej - Eldest Son.
Jhanvi - Tej's wife.
Shakti - Younger Son
Pinky - Shakti's wife.
Roop - Her daughter.
Husband - Some guy in jail. Roop stole from Oberoi Mansion. her husband ended up going to jail.
Third Generation
Shivaay - Eldest Grand Son, Shakti's son. Called the great wall of Shivaay, as he protects his family from all harm.
Anika - Shivaay's wife, though except for the Oberoi-s no one knows that he married Anika.
Tia - The world thinks that Tia is married to Shivaay and is expecting their first baby. (though the baby belongs to her real husband.)
Omkara - Tej's eldest Son.
Rudra - Tej's younger son.
Priyanka - Tej's only daughter. Anika is her bestfriend.
On the first episode, a man named Ashok immolates himself accusing Tej and Shakti of some big crime. The man wasn't actually going to kill himself as he was going to use a lighter without gas, but Roop had changed the lighter.
Ashok's wife Gayatri comes to take revenge on the Oberoi family, and she joins hands with Roop not realizing that Roop is the one who killed her husband.
Omkara Back Story
Omkara is introduced as a self made billionaire who hates lies and always speaks the truth. He mostly talks in shayari about love and pain. He is more grounded than his brother, who travels by local train, autos and dresses very casually. He is an artist and has been against his father for a long time. He says that he hates his father. His issues with his father is so big that he refuses to call him "Dad" and calls him Mr. Oberoi. His father, Tej is an arrogant and ruthless businessman, who openly flaunts his mistress cum secretary Svetlana in front of his wife, family and the world. Om hates Tej for Svetlana's presence in their life. His mother, Jhanvi is an alcoholic who couldn't handle Tej's adultery and she was a successful businesswoman who was forced to give up her career after Omkara was born to look after their family. Jhanvi and Tej had a love marriage. She was about to marry Tej's best friend, and she had eloped with Tej before her marriage. Omkara is more attached to his cousin brother Shivaay and his younger brother Rudra. He is very protective of his little sister Priyanka who lacks confidence and easily gets nervous.
Om is the one who actually shows Shivaay the mirror and shows his prejudiced thinking about Naam, Khoon and Khandaan. For Omkara people matter, not their money or family.
Even though Tej is the eldest son. His younger brother Shakti's son is the eldest grandchild. Tej wants his son to succeed in business and become the next heir to Oberoi property. But Jhanvi doesn't care who become the heir as she consider Shivaay to be her son. So does Shakti while Shakti's wife Pinky wants her son to succeed. Pinky and Jhanvi have issues and fights for the power.
The brothers are more bonded than the family rivalry. They know the dynamics of their parents but ignores that and continues to sacrifice and strive for their brothers.
Om is most vocal against Tej and his mistakes. He always stands for his mother. Making Tej accuse Jhanvi for creating barrier between his sons and him.
Om is dating Ridhima, she is very socially active and works for the poor. Though she is not very genuine and wants to use Omkara's surname for publicity.
Tej's sister Roop attacks Shivaay with poison and he gets hospitalized. Shivaay is in a critical condition as he has some heart condition. Tej at this time, comes to Omkara and asks him to sign some papers so he can take over if Shivaay dies. Om accuses Tej for his cruelty and Tej justifies that even though he loves Shivaay, he wants his son to succeed. Om raises his hand to slap Tej and tells him that, "Even if he has to run in a race, he will run only to make his brother win."
Roop acts as if she saved Shivaay's life when Gayatri tries to kill him. She gets into the good books of Om.
During Raksha Bandan, Roop comes to Om and requests him that she wants to tie Rakhi for her brothers. Om falling for her sob story and thinking she saved Shivaay's life allows her into the house.
At this time, a con girl, Ishana enters his life. At first she (wearing a burkha) cons Rudra while Om is with him, into buying an already stolen car. Rudra and Om ends up getting arrested.
Roop and Svetlana, leaks a post coital MMS of Tej and hers, where he tells her that he is going to divorce Jhanvi and will marry her.
This causes a big clash in the family. A fight between Tej and Pinky reveal that Om used to take drugs and it was Shivaay who had brought him back from that. All this again disturbs Om. Seeing this Shivaay checks up Om's cupboards for drugs but Om still ends up taking drugs leading to an over dose/suicide attempt.
Shivaay and Rudra saves him, and Om promises never to do anything stupid and admits that he wasn't trying to kill himself.
When Shivaay accuses Anika for the MMS leaking, Om refuses to believe him, and Omru investigates and prove to Shivaay that it was not Anika who had leaked it. Though they fail to identify the real culprit (roop).
Pinky saves Jhanvi from Roop's trap, and they become friendly. Roop gets thrown out of OM. Pinky helps Jhanvi in mending her relation with Tej. Harmony returns to the family.
Ishana plans to marry Om for his wealth. Om becomes friends with Ishana and believes all her lies about her troubled life. Ishana starts to have genuine feelings for Om but the financial mess her family is in, forces her to continue conning him. Ishana realizes that Om has a girlfriend, and she appears in front of Ridhima as Bella and create misunderstandings between Om and Ridhima.
The problems get more bigger, and Om shares his problems with Shivaay and Rudra. Who point out that neither has Om seen Bella and Ridhima seen Ishana, and Om has never seen Bella and Ishana at the same time. They grow suspicious, and Rudra becomes Agent Rudy and follows Ishana and finds out that she is the same girl who had conned them earlier.
Omkara confronts Ishana, and they fight and argue. Ishana calls Om a hypocrite and that he is exactly like his father. That Ridhima is all show and not genuine. And Shivaay is a ruthless businessman who would do anything for profit, and Rudra a playboy who breaks girl's heart left, right and center. Om is furious at her and asks her to never come in front of him again.
This drives Omkara towards Ridhima more but it quickly evaporates when Ridhima starts to make changes in his life. He starts to feel suffocated. Shivaay explains to him it is because Om and Ridhima had a long distance relation and now they are together, they need to get used to having the other around. Om can't bring himself into having an open discussion with Ridhima about it which causes problems with Ridhima who thinks Om is not sure about what he wants from her. Ridhima has a fight with him and leave.
At this time, ACP Randhawa enters their life. Gayatri is found dead and ACP comes to arrest Shivaay. But he has an ulterior motive. He tries to uncover the truth behind the accident of his sister. Though it is hinted that Om was the one who committed the accident, it is revealed later that it was Priyanka who had driven the car then before her 18th birthday. Om takes the blame to protect her. He makes her promise that she will never tell the truth to anyone. This causes her to be nervous around people. After dropping Priyanka home and he goes back to the accident spot to save the girl only to find her missing. Randhawa lies to Om that the girl he killed has a child. The guilt of this causes Om to take drugs again.
Shivaay and Rudra misunderstands this is because of Ridhima breaking up with Om. Om patches up with Ridhima and asks her to move in with him. He had been living with Ridhima when they were in UK. Though at first the family is against it, when Shivaay supports Om, they become helpless.
Then ACP tells Priyanka that his sister is fine and he had lied. This relieves Om from his guilt.
But the truth is, ACP Randhawa is forcing Priyanka to marrying him, as his sister is still in coma and he wants to torture her after marrying him.
On the day of Shivaay's wedding. Tia runs away and Shivaay to save izzat, has Anika cover her face and blackmails her into marrying him as Tia. When Omkara at night is looking through the photos, in one photo he notices Anika's bracelet on the bride, he realizes that Shivaay married Anika and not Tia. He reveals to the whole family that Shivaay married Anika.
Om and Rudra are angry with Shivaay when he announces to the world that Tia is his wife.
Om and Rudra understands Shivaay's reason for marrying Anika but they are confused why Anika married Shivaay. When Anika doesn't give any valid reason they investigate and find out that Shivaay had forced Anika and had threatened to kill her brother Sahil. They reveal to the whole family and stops talking to Shivaay and supports Anika. Till Anika intervenes and sorts out the issue between the brothers. It ends up with Anika getting initiated to the Obro Hug.
When Shivaay's marriage with Tia causes his stock to rise, Tej tries to transfer stock in Om's name. But Om refuses to sign the papers as he wants Shivaay to go ahead of him. Tej teams up with Ridhima. When Tej brings another set of papers to Om saying it is for charity, Om asks Ridhima to read it. She gets Om to sign the papers saying she has read the papers. When Om finds out that he had signed the business papers, he burns it and breaks up with Ridhima.
Shivaay becomes the businessman of the year award. Though Shivaay is upset as Tej was the one who used to always get it, Om is happy for Shivaay. Tej gets insecure regarding this. He tries to pressurize Om into getting into business which causes clash between Tej and Jhanvi. They start having issues again.
Svetlana is revealed to be Tia's sister and Mrs. Kapoor's daughter. Mrs. Kapoor is out to avenge her husband's death which she holds the Oberoi's responsible.
Svetlana reenters Tej's life. She causes his accident and saves him risking her life. Tej brings her to his house to recover much to the displeasure of his family. Om, Jhanvi fights with Tej. He threatens to leave the house with Svetlana. Realizing that Svetlana is faking her injury Om, Shivaay, Rudra and Anika plot to find out her truth. Om allows Svetlana to stay in their house to uncover her truth. Svetlana, Tia and Mrs Kapoor, try to kill Anika and Shivaay multiple times but fails as they keep saving each other.
Svetlana continues to create misunderstandings between Tej and Jhanvi. She makes Tej think that Jhanvi had tried to kill her. Tej declares that he is going to divorce Jhanvi.
Svetlana, Tia and Romi has some guys take a MMS of Priyanka while she is changing. To blackmail Rudra, Romi sends it to Rudra's phone but Om ends up seeing it instead of Rudra. They start blackmailing him.
Svetlana manipulates Tej into fixing Om's wedding with a businessman's daughter. Tej fixes the wedding without consulting Om. Om refuses to marry a girl he doesn't know.
An upset Om is consoled by Anika. And Om finally calls her "Bhabhi".
Jhanvi and Tej have a huge show down. Tej tells Jhanvi that he wants divorce.
Om follows Svetlana to a strange place. They argue and Om ends up fainting.
Next day Om comes back home, followed by Svetlana who accuses Om of raping her. Though the brothers believe Om, Tej believes Svetlana.
Tej asks Om to marry the girl he chose after all his misdeeds (rape) for his father. Om refuses but when Shivaay asks him to meet the girl first and then decide, Om agrees for Shivaay. Which again drives a wedge between Tej and Om, as Om quickly agreed to Shivaay's wish and not to Tej.
When the girl's parents come, Tej fixes the wedding in front of Om and Om quickly objects saying he hasn't given his consent yet. The girl's father insults Tej. As it was Tej who had called with the proposal. Seeing the insults and accusations flying around. Rudra quickly agrees to marry the girl saying Tej gave his word that Tej's son will marry her. And Tej Oberoi's younger son will marry her.
But during the engagement, Rudra and Soumya's marriage gets revealed to the family and media and the engagement breaks. Another fight breaks out and in middle of all that, Jhanvi attempts to suicide by immolating herself.
It gets revealed that she tried to kill herself cause Tej has decided to divorce her. Om has enough, and he tells Shivaay and Rudra that he is not going to be an emotional fool now and not turn weak like before. He is going to be like Shivaay and face everything in coldness.
Next day, Tej is about to propose Svetlana for marriage, but she walks past him to Om and they get engaged shocking everyone.
It is revealed that Om has promised to give Svetlana 100 crore for dumping Tej. Svetlana threatens him that if Om fails to pay her, then she would go back to Tej. Shivaay overhears their conversation.
Even though Shivaay offers to give Om the money, Om tells him that it is his new life and he wants to earn the money. Shivaay tells him about this land that he was trying to buy from Kali Takur. Om leaves to buy the land at any cost.
Rumya Back Story
Rudra is introduced as a playboy who stills behaves as the baby of the family, very attached to his brothers. He is considered dumb. But as time goes by, he is revealed to be pretty intelligent and sharpest among his brother and he hides his intelligence and insecurity under his jokes and masculinity. He is the first one to notice something not right with Robin, Tia's brother.(and it is revealed to the viewers that Robin is actually Dushyant, and he is Tia's husband). He is majorly into body building. He is also called dumbell Oberoi. Any time he gets caught for some mischief he quickly puts the blame on Om. He is the most emotional among the three, always needing a group hug from his brothers. He was very possessive about Shivaay that he hated the idea of Shivaay marrying Tia. He hates anyone getting in their O Bro Moment, the only one he has allowed is Anika. He gets very close to Anika very quickly. After meeting Anika's little brother Sahil (6 yrs old), he becomes friendly to him. Unknown to him, Sahil is in love with Soumya😆.
Rudra and Soumya met for the first time, when Shivaay was attacked and he was hospitalized. His condition was critical and Soumya bumps into a crying Rudra. She consoles him and they talk about her dead brother and Shivaay.
After Shivaay was out of danger, Soumya visits Shivaay in his room and meets him and Omkara and performs a song for Shivaay with her friend. At this time, Rudra is a little uncomfortable as Soumya has seen him at his most vulnerable state and has seen him cry, while Omkara and Shivaay are amused. Soumya starts calling Shivaay "Bade Bhaiyya" and Omkara "Bade Baalwale Bhaiyya".
They next meet in college. Soumya excitedly goes to talk to Rudra as his friend, while Rudra doesn't acknowledge their meeting as he is the college stud and she is "fat". Rudra falls for Romi, a college beauty and wants to date her while she ignores him. Rudra and Soumya starts clashing in college and she makes him a joker in college by posting his morphed photos. Rudra starts calling Soumya 'Sumo' in an insulting way.
Meanwhile Rudra starts listening to a RJ called "Love Angel". And Soumya turns out to be Dadi's best friend's granddaughter and she moves into Oberoi Mansion. Dadi gives Soumya, Rudra's room. Rudra moves into Om's room, (at times he sleeps with Shivaay). Rudra likes to keep his room messy while Soumya keeps tidying up the room, irritating Rudra. Rudra and Soumya clash again.
Soumya turns out to be Love Angel and Rudra calls her to get tips for wooing Romi. Soumya quickly recognizes him and gives him twisted ideas which makes him out to be clown rather than help him.
Rudra finds out that Soumya and Romi are childhood friends and tries to befriend Soumya to get to Romi by offering to help her in losing weight. Which pisses off Soumya even more. Om and Shivaay try to help him but it backfries. Finally, Anika's plan works out, and Rudra and Soumya becomes friends for a minute till Rudra blurts out that he had ignored Soumya in college because she was fat and he wants to befriend her because she is Romi's bestfriend and he wants to get close to Romi. They again fight.
Rudra is the first one to accept Anika and realize that she is perfect for Shivaay. And he quickly accepts her to the core group.
During Raksha Bandan, seeing how Soumya misses her brtoher, Omkara accepts Soumya as his sister and asks her to tie Rakhi for him.
Oberoi brothers, Anika, Soumya, Tia and Malika (Shivaay's ex-girlfriend) have a party night at OM, and everyone gets drunk. Rudra overhears Soumya's conversation with her mother (on phone) where she talks about her dead brother and dead father. Rudra starts melting towards Soumya. He genuinely starts to care for Soumya. Soumya understanding his genuineness, forgives him and they become good friend (almost on the likes of best friends for Rudra.) He continues to call her 'Sumo' but this time more in friendly manner.
Meanwhile Soumya tries to tell Rudra a secret about Romi but either he stops her midway or something else comes up. Priyanka gets a proposal and that guy's stepbrother turns out to be Soumya's ex-boyfriend, Rehaan. He had dumped her without any explanation and Soumya is still upset about it.
When Rudra finds out, he tries to sort out the difference between Soumya and Rehaan. On Rudra's urging Soumya starts dating Rehaan while Romi starts dating Rudra. Rudra starts noticing weird behavior of Romi while Soumya unsuccessfully tries to tell him Romi's reality.
Finally, Rudra discovers that Romi thinks of herself as a Goddess, and has a cult following and Rudra to be her God husband. She has her bakt almost give Rudra a bath for some felicitation and Rudra escapes. He is very disturbed and scared with what had happened to him. Soumya finds him in his room in that state. Rudra blasts Soumya for not telling him Romi's truth earlier and is pissed with her.
Rudra tries to break up with Romi but she scares him by telling him that she would curse him and turn him into a housefly and has him taking Karvachaut wrat for her. While Soumya is also taking KC fast for her diet. During KC, Rudra calls Love Angel and sees Soumya with her headphones and realizes that she is Love Angel. He fights with her for this betrayal of hers. She scolds him for being a "Bacha" and he angrily tells her not to call him a Bachcha. In between the fight, Soumya starts coughing, and Rudra breaks her fast by giving her water.
When Anika finds out that Tia is cheating on Shivaay, Rudra and Om quickly believe her and tries to help her in finding proof. Though, Tia outsmarts them.
Rudra continues to be angry with Soumya. To break up with Romi, he tells her that he is moving to another place. At this time, due to Rehaan, Rudra is forced to drop Soumya home and Romi stops him midway at this time asking him where he is going. Rudra tells her he is going to airport and Soumya is with hin to drop him off. Romi insists on accompanying him to the airport and follows Rudra and Soumya behind their car.
Rudra and Soumya tries to escape her and ends up at a community wedding. They end up drinking and getting high, and gets married thinking they are shooting for a film. Romi finds them and they escape from there and finally passes out in the middle of the road. They wake up and realize they are married. They argue and ends up deciding that this marriage means nothing to either of them and they will never mention it.
Rudra and Soumya get back home but are disturbed with their marriage. As much as Rudra tries to ignore it, when Rehaan comes to meet Soumya, he gets jealous and attacks Rehaan with his ball. Soumya realizes the attack was intentional while Rehaan doesn't. Soumya and Rudra argue, while Rudra tells her that he is her husband but then they again decide that this marriage means nothing to them.
During Shivaay's wedding festivities, Rudra goes for a day for a match. Romi kidnaps Rudra and has him chained to the bed. Soumya realizes that Rudra is missing. She informs Omkara. Omkara and Soumya together save Rudra from Romi.
Meanwhile, Rehaan proposes Soumya, Rudra again interferes and ends up putting the ring on Soumya's finger. Again they argue, decide the marriage means nothing to them. Soumya is disturbed when her mother gives her consent for Rehaan's and Soumya's wedding, and tells her that she would be coming soon. Rudra also gets disturbed hearing this. But refuse to accept openly that the marriage means something to them.
Rudra is the first to accept Anika as his bhabhi. When Soumya calls her "Di" he scolds her and tells her to learn to accept new relation, causing an awkward moment between them.
When Anika tells Rudra and Om that Tia is going to meet her boyfriend. Omru believes her and helps her. Rudra, Soumya and Omkara help Anika in trying to find out Tia's truth.
During an Obro moment, Rudra calls for a Obro hug. Shivaay, Anika, Om, Rudra and Soumya go in for a hug. Seeing Soumya getting in for the hug, Rudra stops her saying she is not an Oberoi. Soumya is upset hearing this but Omkara reminds her that he has accepted her as his sister, and so she is a part of Oberoi and initiates her into the hug.
Romi turns out to be in cohorts with Mrs. Kapoor. Though at first it is hinted that Mrs. Kapoor has three daughter, Svetlana, Tia and Romi. Later, it is revealed that Romi is not their daughter. Her third daughter's identity is still hidden.
Tej fixes Omkara's wedding with an unknown girl for business merger. Om refuses to marry her. A huge fight breaks out at their place, to save his father's respect, Rudra agrees to marry the girl. Soumya is heartbroken hearing this.
Anika sees Soumya with her mangal sutr but Soumya makes up a story. But a little later, Anika gets a mms of Rudra and Soumya's wedding. Shivaay, Omkara and Anika confronts Rumya. Rudra tells them that this marriage means nothing to him and Soumya. Soumya is hurt by this but tells them that if this marriage means nothing to Rudra, then it means nothing to her. Rudra is angry at her wordings. Anika understands her hidden meaning and tries to speak for their wedding, while Shivaay and Om accept Rumya's words and accepts that neither care for the wedding. Later Rudra fights with Soumya reminding her that it was both their decision to ignore the marriage and move on, and she is acting as if it was his decision alone.
During Rudra's engagement, the mms reaches the media, and his engagement gets broken. Arguments and accusations breaks out and in the middle of that Jhanvi tries to commit suicide.
Rudra holds Soumya responsible for all this and accuses her of keeping the mangal sutra. And tells her that she is the reason for all the problems in their life. Soumya is hurt by this. Without telling anyone, Soumya leaves OM leaving behind a letter. Shivaay accuses Rudra for Soumya leaving, and Rudra is even more upset at this behavior of Soumya.
They meet again in flight.
I might have made some mistakes in the retelling, as I am writing from memory. Hope this helps those who are new to the story. Sorry for any mistakes.

Tej's sister Roop attacks Shivaay with poison and he gets hospitalized. Shivaay is in a critical condition as he has some heart condition. Tej at this time, comes to Omkara and asks him to sign some papers so he can take over if Shivaay dies. Om accuses Tej for his cruelty and Tej justifies that even though he loves Shivaay, he wants his son to succeed. Om raises his hand to slap Tej and tells him that, "Even if he has to run in a race, he will run only to make his brother win."
Roop acts as if she saved Shivaay's life when Gayatri tries to kill him. She gets into the good books of Om.
During Raksha Bandan, Roop comes to Om and requests him that she wants to tie Rakhi for her brothers. Om falling for her sob story and thinking she saved Shivaay's life allows her into the house.
At this time, a con girl, Ishana enters his life. At first she (wearing a burkha) cons Rudra while Om is with him, into buying an already stolen car. Rudra and Om ends up getting arrested.
Roop and Svetlana, leaks a post coital MMS of Tej and hers, where he tells her that he is going to divorce Jhanvi and will marry her.
This causes a big clash in the family. A fight between Tej and Pinky reveal that Om used to take drugs and it was Shivaay who had brought him back from that. All this again disturbs Om. Seeing this Shivaay checks up Om's cupboards for drugs but Om still ends up taking drugs leading to an over dose/suicide attempt.
Shivaay and Rudra saves him, and Om promises never to do anything stupid and admits that he wasn't trying to kill himself.
When Shivaay accuses Anika for the MMS leaking, Om refuses to believe him, and Omru investigates and prove to Shivaay that it was not Anika who had leaked it. Though they fail to identify the real culprit (roop).
Pinky saves Jhanvi from Roop's trap, and they become friendly. Roop gets thrown out of OM. Pinky helps Jhanvi in mending her relation with Tej. Harmony returns to the family.
Ishana plans to marry Om for his wealth. Om becomes friends with Ishana and believes all her lies about her troubled life. Ishana starts to have genuine feelings for Om but the financial mess her family is in, forces her to continue conning him. Ishana realizes that Om has a girlfriend, and she appears in front of Ridhima as Bella and create misunderstandings between Om and Ridhima.
The problems get more bigger, and Om shares his problems with Shivaay and Rudra. Who point out that neither has Om seen Bella and Ridhima seen Ishana, and Om has never seen Bella and Ishana at the same time. They grow suspicious, and Rudra becomes Agent Rudy and follows Ishana and finds out that she is the same girl who had conned them earlier.
Omkara confronts Ishana, and they fight and argue. Ishana calls Om a hypocrite and that he is exactly like his father. That Ridhima is all show and not genuine. And Shivaay is a ruthless businessman who would do anything for profit, and Rudra a playboy who breaks girl's heart left, right and center. Om is furious at her and asks her to never come in front of him again.
This drives Omkara towards Ridhima more but it quickly evaporates when Ridhima starts to make changes in his life. He starts to feel suffocated. Shivaay explains to him it is because Om and Ridhima had a long distance relation and now they are together, they need to get used to having the other around. Om can't bring himself into having an open discussion with Ridhima about it which causes problems with Ridhima who thinks Om is not sure about what he wants from her. Ridhima has a fight with him and leave.
At this time, ACP Randhawa enters their life. Gayatri is found dead and ACP comes to arrest Shivaay. But he has an ulterior motive. He tries to uncover the truth behind the accident of his sister. Though it is hinted that Om was the one who committed the accident, it is revealed later that it was Priyanka who had driven the car then before her 18th birthday. Om takes the blame to protect her. He makes her promise that she will never tell the truth to anyone. This causes her to be nervous around people. After dropping Priyanka home and he goes back to the accident spot to save the girl only to find her missing. Randhawa lies to Om that the girl he killed has a child. The guilt of this causes Om to take drugs again.
Shivaay and Rudra misunderstands this is because of Ridhima breaking up with Om. Om patches up with Ridhima and asks her to move in with him. He had been living with Ridhima when they were in UK. Though at first the family is against it, when Shivaay supports Om, they become helpless.
Then ACP tells Priyanka that his sister is fine and he had lied. This relieves Om from his guilt.
But the truth is, ACP Randhawa is forcing Priyanka to marrying him, as his sister is still in coma and he wants to torture her after marrying him.
On the day of Shivaay's wedding. Tia runs away and Shivaay to save izzat, has Anika cover her face and blackmails her into marrying him as Tia. When Omkara at night is looking through the photos, in one photo he notices Anika's bracelet on the bride, he realizes that Shivaay married Anika and not Tia. He reveals to the whole family that Shivaay married Anika.
Om and Rudra are angry with Shivaay when he announces to the world that Tia is his wife.
Om and Rudra understands Shivaay's reason for marrying Anika but they are confused why Anika married Shivaay. When Anika doesn't give any valid reason they investigate and find out that Shivaay had forced Anika and had threatened to kill her brother Sahil. They reveal to the whole family and stops talking to Shivaay and supports Anika. Till Anika intervenes and sorts out the issue between the brothers. It ends up with Anika getting initiated to the Obro Hug.
When Shivaay's marriage with Tia causes his stock to rise, Tej tries to transfer stock in Om's name. But Om refuses to sign the papers as he wants Shivaay to go ahead of him. Tej teams up with Ridhima. When Tej brings another set of papers to Om saying it is for charity, Om asks Ridhima to read it. She gets Om to sign the papers saying she has read the papers. When Om finds out that he had signed the business papers, he burns it and breaks up with Ridhima.
Shivaay becomes the businessman of the year award. Though Shivaay is upset as Tej was the one who used to always get it, Om is happy for Shivaay. Tej gets insecure regarding this. He tries to pressurize Om into getting into business which causes clash between Tej and Jhanvi. They start having issues again.
Svetlana is revealed to be Tia's sister and Mrs. Kapoor's daughter. Mrs. Kapoor is out to avenge her husband's death which she holds the Oberoi's responsible.
Svetlana reenters Tej's life. She causes his accident and saves him risking her life. Tej brings her to his house to recover much to the displeasure of his family. Om, Jhanvi fights with Tej. He threatens to leave the house with Svetlana. Realizing that Svetlana is faking her injury Om, Shivaay, Rudra and Anika plot to find out her truth. Om allows Svetlana to stay in their house to uncover her truth. Svetlana, Tia and Mrs Kapoor, try to kill Anika and Shivaay multiple times but fails as they keep saving each other.
Svetlana continues to create misunderstandings between Tej and Jhanvi. She makes Tej think that Jhanvi had tried to kill her. Tej declares that he is going to divorce Jhanvi.
Svetlana, Tia and Romi has some guys take a MMS of Priyanka while she is changing. To blackmail Rudra, Romi sends it to Rudra's phone but Om ends up seeing it instead of Rudra. They start blackmailing him.
Svetlana manipulates Tej into fixing Om's wedding with a businessman's daughter. Tej fixes the wedding without consulting Om. Om refuses to marry a girl he doesn't know.
An upset Om is consoled by Anika. And Om finally calls her "Bhabhi".
Jhanvi and Tej have a huge show down. Tej tells Jhanvi that he wants divorce.
Om follows Svetlana to a strange place. They argue and Om ends up fainting.
Next day Om comes back home, followed by Svetlana who accuses Om of raping her. Though the brothers believe Om, Tej believes Svetlana.
Tej asks Om to marry the girl he chose after all his misdeeds (rape) for his father. Om refuses but when Shivaay asks him to meet the girl first and then decide, Om agrees for Shivaay. Which again drives a wedge between Tej and Om, as Om quickly agreed to Shivaay's wish and not to Tej.
When the girl's parents come, Tej fixes the wedding in front of Om and Om quickly objects saying he hasn't given his consent yet. The girl's father insults Tej. As it was Tej who had called with the proposal. Seeing the insults and accusations flying around. Rudra quickly agrees to marry the girl saying Tej gave his word that Tej's son will marry her. And Tej Oberoi's younger son will marry her.
But during the engagement, Rudra and Soumya's marriage gets revealed to the family and media and the engagement breaks. Another fight breaks out and in middle of all that, Jhanvi attempts to suicide by immolating herself.
It gets revealed that she tried to kill herself cause Tej has decided to divorce her. Om has enough, and he tells Shivaay and Rudra that he is not going to be an emotional fool now and not turn weak like before. He is going to be like Shivaay and face everything in coldness.
Next day, Tej is about to propose Svetlana for marriage, but she walks past him to Om and they get engaged shocking everyone.
It is revealed that Om has promised to give Svetlana 100 crore for dumping Tej. Svetlana threatens him that if Om fails to pay her, then she would go back to Tej. Shivaay overhears their conversation.
Even though Shivaay offers to give Om the money, Om tells him that it is his new life and he wants to earn the money. Shivaay tells him about this land that he was trying to buy from Kali Takur. Om leaves to buy the land at any cost.
Rumya Back Story
Rudra is introduced as a playboy who stills behaves as the baby of the family, very attached to his brothers. He is considered dumb. But as time goes by, he is revealed to be pretty intelligent and sharpest among his brother and he hides his intelligence and insecurity under his jokes and masculinity. He is the first one to notice something not right with Robin, Tia's brother.(and it is revealed to the viewers that Robin is actually Dushyant, and he is Tia's husband). He is majorly into body building. He is also called dumbell Oberoi. Any time he gets caught for some mischief he quickly puts the blame on Om. He is the most emotional among the three, always needing a group hug from his brothers. He was very possessive about Shivaay that he hated the idea of Shivaay marrying Tia. He hates anyone getting in their O Bro Moment, the only one he has allowed is Anika. He gets very close to Anika very quickly. After meeting Anika's little brother Sahil (6 yrs old), he becomes friendly to him. Unknown to him, Sahil is in love with Soumya😆.
Rudra and Soumya met for the first time, when Shivaay was attacked and he was hospitalized. His condition was critical and Soumya bumps into a crying Rudra. She consoles him and they talk about her dead brother and Shivaay.
After Shivaay was out of danger, Soumya visits Shivaay in his room and meets him and Omkara and performs a song for Shivaay with her friend. At this time, Rudra is a little uncomfortable as Soumya has seen him at his most vulnerable state and has seen him cry, while Omkara and Shivaay are amused. Soumya starts calling Shivaay "Bade Bhaiyya" and Omkara "Bade Baalwale Bhaiyya".
They next meet in college. Soumya excitedly goes to talk to Rudra as his friend, while Rudra doesn't acknowledge their meeting as he is the college stud and she is "fat". Rudra falls for Romi, a college beauty and wants to date her while she ignores him. Rudra and Soumya starts clashing in college and she makes him a joker in college by posting his morphed photos. Rudra starts calling Soumya 'Sumo' in an insulting way.
Meanwhile Rudra starts listening to a RJ called "Love Angel". And Soumya turns out to be Dadi's best friend's granddaughter and she moves into Oberoi Mansion. Dadi gives Soumya, Rudra's room. Rudra moves into Om's room, (at times he sleeps with Shivaay). Rudra likes to keep his room messy while Soumya keeps tidying up the room, irritating Rudra. Rudra and Soumya clash again.
Soumya turns out to be Love Angel and Rudra calls her to get tips for wooing Romi. Soumya quickly recognizes him and gives him twisted ideas which makes him out to be clown rather than help him.
Rudra finds out that Soumya and Romi are childhood friends and tries to befriend Soumya to get to Romi by offering to help her in losing weight. Which pisses off Soumya even more. Om and Shivaay try to help him but it backfries. Finally, Anika's plan works out, and Rudra and Soumya becomes friends for a minute till Rudra blurts out that he had ignored Soumya in college because she was fat and he wants to befriend her because she is Romi's bestfriend and he wants to get close to Romi. They again fight.
Rudra is the first one to accept Anika and realize that she is perfect for Shivaay. And he quickly accepts her to the core group.
During Raksha Bandan, seeing how Soumya misses her brtoher, Omkara accepts Soumya as his sister and asks her to tie Rakhi for him.
Oberoi brothers, Anika, Soumya, Tia and Malika (Shivaay's ex-girlfriend) have a party night at OM, and everyone gets drunk. Rudra overhears Soumya's conversation with her mother (on phone) where she talks about her dead brother and dead father. Rudra starts melting towards Soumya. He genuinely starts to care for Soumya. Soumya understanding his genuineness, forgives him and they become good friend (almost on the likes of best friends for Rudra.) He continues to call her 'Sumo' but this time more in friendly manner.
Meanwhile Soumya tries to tell Rudra a secret about Romi but either he stops her midway or something else comes up. Priyanka gets a proposal and that guy's stepbrother turns out to be Soumya's ex-boyfriend, Rehaan. He had dumped her without any explanation and Soumya is still upset about it.
When Rudra finds out, he tries to sort out the difference between Soumya and Rehaan. On Rudra's urging Soumya starts dating Rehaan while Romi starts dating Rudra. Rudra starts noticing weird behavior of Romi while Soumya unsuccessfully tries to tell him Romi's reality.
Finally, Rudra discovers that Romi thinks of herself as a Goddess, and has a cult following and Rudra to be her God husband. She has her bakt almost give Rudra a bath for some felicitation and Rudra escapes. He is very disturbed and scared with what had happened to him. Soumya finds him in his room in that state. Rudra blasts Soumya for not telling him Romi's truth earlier and is pissed with her.
Rudra tries to break up with Romi but she scares him by telling him that she would curse him and turn him into a housefly and has him taking Karvachaut wrat for her. While Soumya is also taking KC fast for her diet. During KC, Rudra calls Love Angel and sees Soumya with her headphones and realizes that she is Love Angel. He fights with her for this betrayal of hers. She scolds him for being a "Bacha" and he angrily tells her not to call him a Bachcha. In between the fight, Soumya starts coughing, and Rudra breaks her fast by giving her water.
When Anika finds out that Tia is cheating on Shivaay, Rudra and Om quickly believe her and tries to help her in finding proof. Though, Tia outsmarts them.
Rudra continues to be angry with Soumya. To break up with Romi, he tells her that he is moving to another place. At this time, due to Rehaan, Rudra is forced to drop Soumya home and Romi stops him midway at this time asking him where he is going. Rudra tells her he is going to airport and Soumya is with hin to drop him off. Romi insists on accompanying him to the airport and follows Rudra and Soumya behind their car.
Rudra and Soumya tries to escape her and ends up at a community wedding. They end up drinking and getting high, and gets married thinking they are shooting for a film. Romi finds them and they escape from there and finally passes out in the middle of the road. They wake up and realize they are married. They argue and ends up deciding that this marriage means nothing to either of them and they will never mention it.
Rudra and Soumya get back home but are disturbed with their marriage. As much as Rudra tries to ignore it, when Rehaan comes to meet Soumya, he gets jealous and attacks Rehaan with his ball. Soumya realizes the attack was intentional while Rehaan doesn't. Soumya and Rudra argue, while Rudra tells her that he is her husband but then they again decide that this marriage means nothing to them.
During Shivaay's wedding festivities, Rudra goes for a day for a match. Romi kidnaps Rudra and has him chained to the bed. Soumya realizes that Rudra is missing. She informs Omkara. Omkara and Soumya together save Rudra from Romi.
Meanwhile, Rehaan proposes Soumya, Rudra again interferes and ends up putting the ring on Soumya's finger. Again they argue, decide the marriage means nothing to them. Soumya is disturbed when her mother gives her consent for Rehaan's and Soumya's wedding, and tells her that she would be coming soon. Rudra also gets disturbed hearing this. But refuse to accept openly that the marriage means something to them.
Rudra is the first to accept Anika as his bhabhi. When Soumya calls her "Di" he scolds her and tells her to learn to accept new relation, causing an awkward moment between them.
When Anika tells Rudra and Om that Tia is going to meet her boyfriend. Omru believes her and helps her. Rudra, Soumya and Omkara help Anika in trying to find out Tia's truth.
During an Obro moment, Rudra calls for a Obro hug. Shivaay, Anika, Om, Rudra and Soumya go in for a hug. Seeing Soumya getting in for the hug, Rudra stops her saying she is not an Oberoi. Soumya is upset hearing this but Omkara reminds her that he has accepted her as his sister, and so she is a part of Oberoi and initiates her into the hug.
Romi turns out to be in cohorts with Mrs. Kapoor. Though at first it is hinted that Mrs. Kapoor has three daughter, Svetlana, Tia and Romi. Later, it is revealed that Romi is not their daughter. Her third daughter's identity is still hidden.
Tej fixes Omkara's wedding with an unknown girl for business merger. Om refuses to marry her. A huge fight breaks out at their place, to save his father's respect, Rudra agrees to marry the girl. Soumya is heartbroken hearing this.
Anika sees Soumya with her mangal sutr but Soumya makes up a story. But a little later, Anika gets a mms of Rudra and Soumya's wedding. Shivaay, Omkara and Anika confronts Rumya. Rudra tells them that this marriage means nothing to him and Soumya. Soumya is hurt by this but tells them that if this marriage means nothing to Rudra, then it means nothing to her. Rudra is angry at her wordings. Anika understands her hidden meaning and tries to speak for their wedding, while Shivaay and Om accept Rumya's words and accepts that neither care for the wedding. Later Rudra fights with Soumya reminding her that it was both their decision to ignore the marriage and move on, and she is acting as if it was his decision alone.
During Rudra's engagement, the mms reaches the media, and his engagement gets broken. Arguments and accusations breaks out and in the middle of that Jhanvi tries to commit suicide.
Rudra holds Soumya responsible for all this and accuses her of keeping the mangal sutra. And tells her that she is the reason for all the problems in their life. Soumya is hurt by this. Without telling anyone, Soumya leaves OM leaving behind a letter. Shivaay accuses Rudra for Soumya leaving, and Rudra is even more upset at this behavior of Soumya.
They meet again in flight.
I might have made some mistakes in the retelling, as I am writing from memory. Hope this helps those who are new to the story. Sorry for any mistakes.
