I don't know if the marriage is logical but it is surely dramatic. If drama is what they wanted they got that for sure! In old BW movies you go to someone's wedding and end up married to the bride, coz she got left at the alter or whatever.
Here, Om was not interested in getting involved. In fact, he had painted a picture in his mind of what happened with Gauri and Kali Thakur and his wife. He has already been conned by Ishana who he thought was genuine. Let down by Ridhimma who helped Tej get his signature on documents giving him more shares of the business than Shivaay. These women he trusted. Then Svetlana who played games for his Father's money (or so he thinks) and helped ruin his Mother's marriage. Would he honestly trust a random stranger now?
Om may hate this women and her "type", but when he saw they were going to kill her, he did the only thing he could do to stop the "mob". Those regressive losers would never have let Gauri go if he had not done that drama of marrying her. He just wanted to stop her from being murdered! To him marriage in general means nothing anymore. Just a means to an end. So if filling Gauri's Maang and taking pheras was going to stop her murder then he was OK to do it. End of the day it was just a "solution" to a problem. It was either do this marriage "act" or let her be killed. So he chose the former. I don't think he actually thought he was marrying her at all! He agreed he thinks she is wrong. But that doesn't mean she deserves to die. Let the law deal with her. But those people won't listen to that. I personally applaud what he did. Despite his disgust for what he thinks she did, he still helped save her life. I think this shows that the old Om is still very much there. Because if he really didn't have a heart, he would not have done what he did!
A very dramatic episode and it had the desired effect!
