Here's a vid of someone singing it and people dancing to it. Very catchy and it's easy to sing along to as well.

I used to listen to my music on the ipod and when a dance number came, I used go to my room and dance in front of the mirror and then made a decision that I wont dance ever again but I still dance except not in the front of the mirror😆
Simi, yaar you surprised me with your singing and now dancing😲...now all of a sudden I feel good for nothing

Aww it takes a bit of practice but once you're used to it then it's a lot of fun :)
Basic dandiya is a lot simpler then the dance they're doing in the vid.

I hate it when people bring those really skinny dandiya sticks because every time you hit them you feel like their sticks are about to snap in half lol. Same goes for the dandiya sticks with lights on them-I'd always be afraid I'll whack their stick and the lights on the stick would stop working😆

🤣What did you do for the rest of the night? Luckily the place I go to has a section where you can buy dandiya sticks that are quite cheap.

Were they one of the really skinny dandiyas like these ones?

lmao... well unfortunately i don't have too many indian friends... and the few i do are south indian and punjabi (like me)... so if we ever do indian dance, it is usually bhangra! so not too much dandiya around here (or atleast i don't know about it)... therefore no practice for me 😭
oh well, maybe i can go to grad school somewhere where there are many indian people... 😳

Recently a couple of people in my family have got married so I've been to a couple of sanji na geet functions lately and I love every minute of it! :)
I always look forward to Navratri and Dandia because it is soo much fun..I completely lose myself while playing Dandia and all of a sudden the blisters on my feet don't matter.😛

Yeah they have lot of navratri stuff here in New York in different school gyms etc.....but you know I still remember when I was about 8 years old and we had gone to India specifically for Navratri, and the building in Mumbai where we live is part of a society and every navratri they cover the open grounds with sand and put maata ji's murti in middle, build a mandap and every night during navratri starting at 8 PM many people from the society do garba to live music till 10 and dandia till 11 and then do aarti.......I still remember that as the best navratri thingy that I've been to....and it wasn't just our society that did this, many societies at that time did that....but now I think sadly with all the new rules about noise control and stuff it doesn't happen as often in mumbai anymore.......Tongue
