Marriages do have an expectation, yes. But like I said, he expects to say that to her, treat her like that, and expects her not to be upset? Complaining is different, yeah that has a different tone to it.

Like I said, had she not covered for him with the phone call, that's all that was needed--plus her unhappiness which Sonal picked up on.

Either way, it led to the ending scene, where Kastur stood up for herself. Good for her. And their relationship is not venturing into hate territory from Mohan, rather it turned into a cute scene and probably laid the ground works to develop their relationship further. She knows now from him that the family interfered. Other serials would probably have not have Mohan disclose that, and they would dwell on that for a ridiculous amount of time.

Here, still, things related to their relationship are out in the open between the two of them. Which is a welcome, fresh breath of air.

So whatever we may think of the happenings, imo the end result isn't too bad.

ETA: Just read about the consummation, yes I agree that consummation doesn't always happen on the first night. But when taken in with all the other facts, it would be relevant. In an ideal arranged marriage, both parties look to the marriage as a marriage and expect to get to know each other and eventually lead a good married life. We call Kastur/Mohan an arranged marriage, but from Mohan's side it's really not. I mean it is technically, but that's not the ideal arranged marriage. Here the situation is that one party really didn't want it (and the other party has no idea that he didn't want it). Not all arranged marriages are like that, and thus even if the consummation is not on the first night--the dynamics between the couple would be different.
