Dreams, Emotions, Care...
Standing beside the window and staring outside, Kastur was silently shedding tears. She was blankly looking at a point and seemed in deep thoughts. Some bitter memories struck her mind. Her husband didn't love her but he cared. Her mother-in-law only hated her. These two facts were creating storms of pain inside her.
Her dreams of a happy marital life didn't get fulfilled. Yet she stayed strong. Months passed but she kept tolerating her mother-in-law's taunts and didn't utter a word. All these she did was just because she hoped for her dream to be real. But how long? How long would her hope stay alive? Can she live her life with friendship of her husband and taunts of her mother-in-law? She asked herself but found no answers.
"Kastur", she said Mohan calling her name and entering the room. Quickly she wiped off her tears, brought a smile on her face and turned around to face him.
"Kastur, bohot thak gaya hoon. Aaj bohot jyada kaam tha." Mohan said, exhausted, threw himself on bed and closed his eyes.
"Main aap ke liye paani lekar aati hoon.", Kastur sweetly said. Mohan only muttered "Hmm!"
Kastur went outside and brought a glass of water for Mohan. "Yeh lijiye", she said.
Mohan adjusted herself in a sitting position and took the glass from Kastur, just then; he noticed her eyes, and found something unusual.
"Kastur", he said after drinking water and placing the glass on the side-table.
"Haan!", Kastur replied plainly.
"Yaha baitho.", Mohan said softly pointing to his side.
Kastur sat down and looked at Mohan. She was trying her best to be normal, to smile but seemed like Mohan recognized the fakeness of her smile.
"Tum ro rahi thi?", Mohan asked concernedly.
Kastur nervously lowered her eyes. "Nahi toh.", she said.
"Tum jhoot bol rahi ho. You know you can't do that, right!"
"Nahi, sach mein! Main nahi ro rahi thi."
"Maa ne kuch kaha kya?"
Kastur raised her eyes looking at Mohan and said, "Arey nahi! Maa ne kuch nahi kaha. Woh bas aise hi."
"Theek hai. Tum mujhe bataana nahi chahti toh theek hai." Mohan irritatedly said, stood up and went to the washroom.
As Mohan left, Kastur went near the window and cried her heart out. "Sapne kabhi sach nahi hote.", she sobbingly said. "Chahe main jitna bhi koshish karlu, maa ke dil mein kabhi apne liye jagaah nahi banaa sakti aur Mohan ji kabhi mujhe pyaar nahi karenge. Adhura hi rehega mera sapna."
Just then; someone tapped on her shoulder and in jerk, she turned back and found Mohan.
"Aap so jaaiye. Kal subha kaam par jana hai naa.", Kastur instantly smiled and said, trying to be normal and was walking towards the couch.
"Sapne sach hone mein thoda waqt do.", Mohan intensely said and Kastur froze her steps.
Kastur turned back to face Mohan and smilingly said, "Matlab?"
Mohan went close to her and held her hand. "Matlab.. rone dhone se sapne pure nahi hone waale. Be patient and you'll surely get a positive result. Don't worry.", he said.
Kastur couldn't control her emotions anymore. Tears unknowingly flowed from her eyes, and Mohan, immediately wiped them off.
"Tum hasti huyi jyada acchi lagti ho.", he said looking friendly at Kastur. This brought a little cute smile on her face.
"That's better!", Mohan genuinely smiled with her and suddenly Kastur hugged him. "Thank you.", she said.
Mohan hugged her back and said, "Your welcome."
They broke their hug and went to sleep; Mohan on bed and Kastur on couch.
"Kastur, tumhe udaas dekhna mujhe accha nahi lagta. Pata nahi kyun par jab bhi tumhe udaas dekhta hoon, lagta hai ki mere andar kuch mar sa gaya hai. Pata nahi yeh kaisi feeling hai... khair jo bhi ho, I hope ki tumhe woh mil jaaye jo tum chahti ho aur tumhara sapna puraa ho jaye." Mohan thought looking at a sleeping Kastur and closed his eyes.
Kastur opened her eyes and looked lovingly at her Mohan. "Mohan ji, pata nahi, mera sapna kabhi sach bhi hoga ya nahi. Par humesha yehi dua karungi ki aapka har ek sapna pura ho aur aap humesha khush rahe." She thought looking at sleeping Mohan with so much love and care.
