I think the Ramayan track is the most inappropriately handled track in DKDM.

First of all there was no need to show Ramayan in DKDM. They could have simply shown the Hanuman part and moved on.

The rest of it could have been shown as a narrative especially when there are so many stories of Mahadev, Devi Parvati, Kartikeya, Ganesh etc. which are yet to be covered.

What went wrong with Ramayan?

1. People have already seen Ramayan and as far as i know Sagar's Ramayan has been the best of all. No one could beat it. And again Ramayan aired on NDTV Imagine which was OK successful and also on zee tv. The thing is that people have already seen Sagar's Ramayan which is so superb that they wouldnt want to see the same thing again and again. People watch DKDM because it offers something different. Something which hasnt been shown before. By that i mean Shiv-Sati and also Shiv-Parvati, Kali Maa, Durga Maa etc.

2. Unnecessary streching: The second thing that went wrong initially Ramayan was streching a bit too much. Just Ram lifting Shiv Dhanush was streched for 10 days. I mean people would surely get bored with this. And showing Shiv Ji in each and every frame and creating hypothetical non-existing scenes between ram & shiv , sita & gauri also didnt go down well. There was a bit too much streching.

Ram-Sita eyelocks in gardens, markets etc. were not needed at all. They looked so hypothetical. The essence of the show wore away because of made up stories of Trikon puran.Obviously people got bored and TRP's have been constantly falling.

3. Now completely sidelined: Now that they have relaised that Ramayan has not been working for them they have fully sidelined it and show it for 1-2 mins. Its an injustice to the actors who were roped in to play the roles of Ram and Sita. First unnecessary imaginary scenes and now complete high-handedness and ignorance.

I'm glad that DKDM is back on track and is again showing the stories of Veerbhadra, Mahakali etc. but i do hope that they give Ramayan a proper exist rather than brushing it aside like a dried up flower.

They could have ended the Raavan track and not gone to Ramayan at all after the Vaidyanaath Jyotrilng and they could have just carried on with Shiv stories. So many short stories can be shown.
Ramayan has no importance for Shivji but he was given more than undue importance there and creating too much fiction which caused the whole track to fail.

I think that they should never have brought even Ravan, since he doesn't invoke the admiration of viewers, and just kept showing Mahadev centric stories. After Jalandhar, they should have gone to Shumbha/Nishumbha, Andhak and others.

They could then have brought in the Treta Yuga & shown Ravan stories, w/ Manish playing Ravan. After the palace fiasco they could have shown the Kailash Shiva stota and then gone back to showing other Mahadev related things.

Rama should have just made a cameo appearance, maybe 2. One could have been the establishment of the Rameshwaran Jyotirlinga, and the other could have been Rama's Akal Bodan Durga Puja, which could have invoked Durga, and by implication, Parvati.

But showing Mahadev micromanaging everything happening in Mithila & Ayodhya, and erasing Vashistha's role in teaching Rama, and so on badly spoilt things. Also, in Sita's swayamvara, Rama & Lakshman went as princes, not as vanvasis, and that's well known. As a result, that one bombed badly as well.

Agree with the TM and everyone else.
Everyone knows the Sagar family are the best when it comes to Ramayan. All the versions they took have been successful in their own way, whether it be the 1986 one, 2008 one, and even the 2012 one, which did not get a superb response like the previous versions but still had a pretty good viewership.

The fact is, there is no dearth of Ramayan in television. 🤔 People can watch any of the versions that have already been done based on which they liked best. Among the three Sagar versions, I think nearly every story in the epic has been touched, so for Mahadev to show it was a really bad move. As the TM mentioned, DKDM became popular because it was an original show. After Dheeraj Kumar's Om Namah Shivaya, no show on Lord Shiva had been made, so DKDM immediately attracted viewers. It had no need to fall back on another epic to gain viewers. It lost viewership because the lead actress was replaced, not because there was a dearth in Shiva-centric stories.

I agree with the TM. Now that Ramayan has begun, they should at least give it a proper ending in respect to the actors' hard work. Piyush and Rubina were a pretty good Ram and Sita, and had they acted in a Ramayan-based show, they would have become a lot more popular in the roles. They should respect the hard work of these actors and complete the Ramayan track efficiently, possibly by fast forwarding to Ravan vadh or something, but just don't leave it hanging! That would reflect really bad on the CVs.

Not even establishment of Rameshwaran jyotirlingam? Isn't that taking it a bit far? Also, they should show Ravan's death as well, maybe as a part of an episode.

I guess they'd have to show Sita's vanvas II in order to hark back to Vrinda's curse

The Ramayana was clearly a waste. And to make the matters worse, the CV's included Mahadev and Parvati in every scene. I mean in which Ramayan versions it is written, that Mahadev comes everytime.
They were stretching it too long. And finally viewers stayed away from viewing it, myself included.

Did Vrinda's curse cover Rama during his exile - that he'd be separated from Sita, or about after his rajyabhishek, when he'd have to exile Sita?

I thought Tulsi & Vrinda gave Vishnu different & separate curses.
