Like I pointed out, Indra killed Vritra in a direct confrontation, which wasn't a problem once he received the Vajra. Showing Vritra as fighting Kartikeya when Indra stabs him - it in a way defames Kartikeya as well, like showing that he's incapable of defeating Vritra on his own, when he had done it just the day b4. They managed to redeem Kartikeya somewhat by having him request Shiva that he not be made the tool of the devas anymore. I didn't get why Vishnu suggested Kartikeya for this role.
So Kartikeya knows that Jalandhar was born from Shiva's krodagni? In that case, why was he shocked to see him in the battlefiled - hasn't he been following the news that Jalandhar has become the asuraraj?
One final note about Vritra. In the original, he was a lone giant who traumatized the devas until Indra got the vajra and confronted and killed him. Here, in this serial, he's been a PA twice - first time, to Tarakasura, and now, to Jalandhar. Incidentally, they seem to have changed the actor who played Vritra's role then vs now. So he had a pretty eventful life here - once entering the body of Sati, and now, being backstabbed by Indra. I would have liked to see him defeat Indra at least once. Also wish they had shown Jalandhar doing his funeral.
On a different note, I think this paves the way for Indra to give Devasena in marriage to Kartikeya. Of course, since in this serial Devasena is not Indra's daughter, Kartikeya may be less averse to it, since he wouldn't be tainted by having this Indra as a sasur. I also think the stage may be set for Nahusha to replace Indra as devaraj once Jalandhar is over - Indra does have to do penance for what he had done.
