Ganga is only one...there are no different forms of Ganga...is Varanasi Ganga different from Kolkata Ganga ??...changing places dosent change a person...its like saying elephant's tail and trunk are two different animals.
Its written in Mahabharta tht Ganga married Shantanu.
Bhishm was also called Ganga putra.

I dont know if u have seen BR chopra Mahabharata serial...it was shown in tht Shantanu married Ganga thinking she was an ordinary mortal...she married him on a condition tht he would never question her actions.
After she had her baby she went and drowned tht baby in river ganga...she did same with her 6 babies at last Shantanu asked her why was she killing her babies.
She replied I am not killing them I am releasing them...
These babies are cursed saptrishies(or Maruts I am not sure)...their release was to be born from river ganga and get release by her own hands...
Since he had questioned her she gave the last baby to him and went back in her river form.
This baby was Bhishm also known as ganga putra.
I have a copy of mahabharta at my home...it has same story...its river ganga not some other woman.

That urja has still not taken form of a baby, so a mother is needed, as Shivji had told Paravti, the Nature will act as a womb for our son, may be that's why Ganga called that urja her son, when she took it under her protection.

Mina Ganga is the water element . now it will have to carried to the vegetation element the Weeds or SARA in dense growth VANA the earth element I am assuming.
He takes the name SARAVANAN
Karthikeya will be shown as a baby first.. I dont think they will show a grown up immediately [ someone mentioned this]

Oh yes the forests burnt because the water element has to come first.. through ganga the urja will be carried to the weeds. It is also mentioned that amongst these weeds was the place parvati used to bathe. or she used to weeds to bathe .. :P
