Dear Shruti, somebody has to point it out to them. Only when we give them a strong feedback will they do something about it. If I had the contacts I wld have surely done the needful. But my problem is my knowledge of the purans is very weak most of the times I come to this forum and read the various posts to enlighten myself of the events. If there are people who are very knowledgeable about these things would look more credible if these things are pointed out by them to the concerned people who decide the spacing of the events in the show.

Kal

To answer something you mentioned in the WU thread of yesterday, I think they'll show the Arihan story, but w/o implying Buddhist or Jain influences. Only thing - they may dilute Vishnu's role, and just show Indra driving this. But honestly, it wouldn't look good on Mahadev either - that he does a massacre just b'cos people stop worshipping him? That sounds like one of the most narcissistic reasons to target them for annihilation.

It's a shame that a Mahadev serial covers up Vishnu's conspiracies - if that's what they want to do, they shouldn't show Taki's sons in the first place. Showing Veerbhadra getting tied up by Vishnu was total malarkey, and if they defame Taki's sons just to rationalize everything Vishnu did, it'll be another disgrace.

Shruti

From what I read, Taki's sons lived in 3 separate cities in the universe that were always skewed. The condition was that they could only be destroyed when they were in a straight line, which happened only once in how many kalpas or something. After all the corrupting was done, when the time came, Mahadev shot an arrow from his bow @ exactly the right moment to blow up those cities. Maya danav escaped from there just in time to get saved.

But they are unpredictable, the moment they are criticised, they suddenly start showing the Purana's version.

@Vrish: In some versions not all of the asurs in the three cities died. Those who did not leave the right path were saved. Also, the Shiva Purana says that Taraka's sons repented for going astray and begged for mercy when their cities were burning down. Because they were his devotees and had repented, Mahadev let them be reborn as his ganas.

Maybe they will show that (besides erasing Vishnu's role)? 🤔

This is what I found on Wikipedia abt the Tripur story...

Tripura (mythology)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here, the five headed Tripurantaka is seen pointing an arrow towards the Tripura (rightmost top corner) with the bow made of mount Meru, the serpent Vasuki is seen as its string. The four headed god Brahma is seen. The moon and the Sun are depicted as the wheels of the chariot.
Tripura (Tamil: Tiripuram, Thai: Triburam) meaning three cities, was constructed by the great Asura architect Mayasura. They were great cities of prosperity, power and dominance over the world, but due to their impious nature, Maya's cities were destroyed by god Tripurantaka, an aspect of Shiva. The three cities were made of iron, silver and gold and were located on earth, in the sky and in heaven, respectively.

History of Tripura

[edit]Penances of the sons of Taraka

Following the death of Tarakasura, who was killed by Kartikeya, his sons Tarakaksha, Vidyunmali and Kamalaksha undertook severe penances by which they pleased Lord Brahma. They requested that they be blessed with impregnable fortresses, which would be everlasting. However, as Brahma told them that nothing could be everlasting, they requested that the destruction of the cities could be brought about by a single arrow only, on the hope that it was impossible for anyone to shoot such an arrow, save Lord Shiva, of whom they were great devotees. Brahma then blessed them that such fortresses would be constructed by the architect Maya.

[edit]The construction of the three cities
The three cities which comprised Tripura were distributed thus:

The lowest, with walls of Iron, located on earth,
The second, with walls of silver, located in the sky, and
The third, with walls of gold, located in heaven.
The three cities were mobile and moved in such a way that they would never be in a single line, save for a few moments in around a thousand years, when the nakshatra Pushya would be in conjunction with the moon. They were thus reassured that they were quite safe, as it would be an extremely difficult task to destroy the three cities, which aligned only momentarily, by a single arrow!

Asuras from everywhere began to flock to Tripura to live. The cities were extremely luxurious and prosperous.

Forebodings of the fall of Tripura
After several years of joy, the inherent evil tendencies of the Asuras surfaced once again and they began to oppress the good and torment the noble. In the meantime, Mayasura was engaged in the worship of Shiva. The rest of the demons attacked sages and the Devas and shattered the peace of the worlds. Finally, when Indra and the rest of the Devas despondently approached Lord Brahma for respite, Lord Brahma redirected them to Shiva and also informed them of the vulnerability of Tripura to a single arrow. Lord Shiva promised to help them and the Devas returned to combat the Asuras in a mighty war. They were also assisted by Nandi, the leader of Lord Shiva's Ganas. Even though Vidyunmali was slain by Nandi, and several other Asuras were killed in the war, they were revived by water in the pool of Tripura, which had magical powers.

[edit]Vishnu descends to help
As the furious war continued between the Asuras and the Devas, even the Earth began to slip from its place. Just as Brahma and Shiva were worrying about the Earth's descent, the Protector god Vishnu, in the form of a massive boar, lifted the earth and restored it to its original place. He then entered Tripura and drank dry, the pool of magic water that rejuvenated the dead Asuras.

[edit]The destruction of Tripura
As the war raged on, Devas continued to struggle to match the Asuras, who used their magical powers to great effect in the war. One day the three cities aligned. Shiva ordered that a chariot be made from which he would battle the three demons.

The war-chariot designed for Shiva was different. Brahma was holding the reins. Vishnu was the arrow, and Agni was the tip of the arrow. Vayu was the inside the feathers on rear of the arrow. All other Devas had their own places and forms in the chariot. Just as the cities aligned, when the Pushya nakshatra positioned appropriately, Lord Shiva was about to strung the mighty bow, the Pinaka with the arrow, the Devas were overjoyed that Tripura was going to be destroyed because of them (because they were part of the war-chariot, without which Shiva cannot destroy).

Lord Shiva, knowing what the Devas were thinking, did not fire the arrow and just smiled. All the three purams were burned immediately. Shocked at this act, Brahma pleaded that Devas thought wrong and that Shiva should forgive and release the arrow, or else the Devas would have a permanent bad name and the reason behind making this chariot would become meaningless. Shiva then fired the arrow on the already burning Cities.

The Devas then understood:

1. Shiva can take the power of anyone/anything because it is his power that is already existing in first place.
2. Even though the boon granted was "one-arrow-one-shot and cities should be destroyed", Shiva has the ultimate power to rule them over.
3. Lord Shiva does not require a huge Chariot with Meru as bow, Vishnu as arrow etc. He could simply destroy/create anything even without moving his eyes.

The "smile and burn" act of Shiva in Tamil is beautifully called as "sirithu purameritha peruman" (God who laughed and burned the three purams)

[edit]Mayasura Protected
Lord Shiva immediately regretted his act, since he had forgotten to protect Maya, a great devotee of his. Realising this, Nandi raced ahead of the arrow and informed Maya of the impending doom. Instantly, Maya fled Tripura, leaving behind the great city he had constructed, which was immediately reduced to ashes, along with its inhabitants, the Asuras, by the great arrow of Shiva. This destruction of Tripura, led to the appellation Tripurantaka (????????????), for Shiva.

Tarakasura had three sons named Vidyunmali, Tarakaksha and Viryavana. These three began to perform tapasya. For a hundred years they meditated standing only on one leg. For a thousand more years they lived on air and meditated. They stood on their heads and meditated in this posture for yet another thousand years.

Brahma was pleased at this difficult tapasya. He appeared before them and said, What boon do you want?

Make us immortal, answered Tarakasura's sons.

I can't make you immortal, replied Brahma. I don't have the power. Ask for something else instead. Very well, then, said Viyunamali, Tarakaksha and Viryavana Grant us the following. Let three forts be made. The first will be of gold, the second of silver and the third of iron. We will live in these forts for a thousand years. At the end of the thousand years, the forts will become one. This combined fort will be called Tripura. And it anyone can then destroy Tripura with only a single arrow, that shall be the death destined for us.

This rather unusual boon Brahma granted. There was a danava named Maya who was very good at building work. Brahma asked him to build the forts. The golden fort was built in heaven, the silver one in the sky and the iron one on earth. Tarakaksha got the golden fort, Viryavana the silver one and Vidyunmali the iron one. Each of the forts was a big as a city and had many palaces and vimanas (spaces vehicles) inside.

The demons populated the three forts and began to flourish. The gods did not like this at all. They first went to Brahma, but Brahma said he could not help them. After all, the demons had got Tripura thanks to his boon. The gods then went to Shiva for help. But Shiva said that the demons were doing nothing wrong. As long as that was the case, he did not see why the gods wre so bothered. The gods then went to Vishnu. Vishnu's suggestion was as follows. If the problem was that the demons were doing nothing wrong, the solution was to persuade them to become sinners.

Out of his powers Vishnu created a man. This man's head was shaven, his clothes were faded and he carried a wooden water-pot in his hands. He covered his mouth with a piece of cloth and approached Vishnu.

What are my orders? he asked Vishnu.

Let me explain to you why you have been created, replied Vishnu. I will teach you a religion that is completely against the Vedas. You will then get the impression that there is no svarga (heaven) and no naraka (hell) and that both heaven and hell are on earth. You will not believe that rewards and punishments for deeds committed on earth are meted out after death. Go to Tripura and teach the demons this religion, which they are dislodged from the righteous path. Then we will do something about Tripura.

The being did as he had been asked to. He and four of his disciples went to a forest that was near Tripura and began to preach. They were trained by Vishnu himself. Therefore, their teachings were convincing and they had many converts. Even the sage Narada got confused and was converted.

In fact, it was Narada who carried news of this wonderful new religion to king Vidyunmati.

King, he said, there is a wonderful new teacher with a wonderful new religion. I have never heard before. I have got converted.

Since the great sage Narada had got converted. Vidyunmati also accepted the new religon. And in due course, so did Tarakaksha and Viryavana. The demons gave up revering the Vedas, they stopped worshipping Shiva's linga.

Vishnu and the other gods then went to Shiva and began to pray to him. When Shiva appeared, they told him that the demons had now become evil and should be destroyed. They had even stopped worshipping Shiva's linga.

Shiva agreed to destroy Tripura. Vishvakarma was the architect of the gods. Shiva called Vishvakarma and asked him to make a suitable chariot, bow and arrow. The chariot was made entirely out of gold. Brahma himself became the charioteer and the chariot was speedly driven towards Tripura. The gods accompanied Shiva with diverse weapons.

By then a thousand years had passed so that the three forts had become a single Tripura. Shiva instilled a divine weapon known as pashupata into his arrow and shot it at Tripura. The arrow burnt up Tripura into ashes in a split second.

While the celebrations were going on, the shaven-heads religious teachers arrived. What are we supposed to do now? they asked.

Brahma and Vishnu told them to go and live in the desert. The last of the four eras was kaliyuga and in kaliyuga, evil would reign supreme. When kaliyuga arrived, they were to come back and begin their teaching afresh.

If the Cvs are planning to show the story they will have to dilute it big time-or people will run towards them with daggers
because Tripur is destroyed more out of the Devtas insecurities rather than a real fault of the Asurs
in a way it projects both Vishnu and Mahadev in a bad light!
i guess maybe thats the reason why they are showing it now rather than saving it for later...(im presuming so)...so that Takki is balmed for everything🤣

on twitter someone said this story s going to lead to the story of the Rudraksha, where after destroying Tripur Mahadevs tears fall to the gorund and Rudrakahsas are formed!

The Rudraksh story - in former Imagine TV's Mahima Shani Dev ki, they showed a story in which the Rudraksha tree was formed from Mahadev's tears as a result of Shani making him cry so that someone's curse can be alleviated. But in MSDK, most of those stories artificially inserted Shani Dev into incidents that he had no part of. Other stories were fictional.

I agree. Nobody comes off looking good in this story, except the asuras. Vishnu is down & out devious, while Mahadev, being bholenath, allows himself to be taken by them for a ride. I guess Kal's account of the modifications, in which some good Vedic Asuras were saved is somewhat better, but it essentially shows religious fanaticism being the driving force. In the Dwapar Yuga, there was the existence of Yavanas - people who did not follow the Vedas. Guess that was a lot stricter in the Satya & Treta Yugas.

But I don't get the advantage of showing it now, as opposed to not at all. They could show it so that Arihan & his ilk are not depicted as Buddhists or Jains. That gets solved easily, but neither Vaishnavs nor even Shaivyas are going to be happy. Incidentally, does anyone recall what they showed years ago in ONS - did they cover this story @ all? If yes, what did they show, and how did they show it?

But if Shumbha-Nishumbha's story is anything to go by, looks like they'll either turn on their father again, or even if they don't, Mahadev will still protect them since disobeying their father would be adharm. I'd really like to see the CVs dig themselves out of the hole they've got into in this one.
