Also, when Shumbha set his mind on marrying Ambika, he kept sending his soldiers to get her, and they kept getting killed. Finally, he sent Nishumbha and then after Nishumbha was killed, went himself.
But in this serial, after Dhumralochan & Raktabheej were killed, he dropped the idea of marriage to Ambika, and broke his alliance w/ Tarakasura.
Granted, the latter didn't even exist, but the former just never happened. Shumbha, like Ravan, did not give up on wanting his favorite woman, even if he ultimately died trying to get her. But in this serial, he just folded and accepted that he could never defeat her.
The CVs are indeed morons to distort this famous a story, when it's well known to just about everybody who knows the stories of Durga that that didn't happen. Yeah, people get confused b'cos of the sheer #asuras involved, as well as the vibhutis of Durga, but aside from that, this distortion was so obvious that it pretty much spoiled an otherwise reasonable Mahaepisode.
Timelines - the CVs have no idea what happened when. Durga was first created for Mahishashur, w/ the various deities (not Parvati) invoking her, giving her their shaktis and astra-shastras. The story of Shumbha happened later, when Durga was a part of Parvati. Oh, and one more thing - Kartikeya was one of those who gave Durga his shaktis in both stories, but as per this serial, he's not born as yet.
The CVs could and should have done a proper job in sequencing all their events, b4 putting them together.
